    Great example of DIY from a modern Jack of Many Trades. For those new to this sort of creation note a couple of things though: The much higer RPM results in more friction, on the belt, the belt sprockets and on the motor bearings which are designed for intermittent model flying, not long duration runs. I am impresed with the small bill of materials but note that the lever arm holding the motor is subjected to a lot of stress, petter to print this in PETg+ or another plastic that is both rigid and very sturdy.

    One Phrase: Carbon Fiber Slipper Clutch. These motors don't like heavy loads, so running them at high RPM and allowing a clutch to slip instead of providing direct torque will aid in efficiency. My RC car from the 1980's has this type of clutch.

    Great video, As always! some points i would like to add. The motor heats up very fast, If u Further drive the bicycle with load the windings will get damage due to heat. To Drive the Ebikes (Without pillion/Double seat) using the small Drone Motor is Not recommended. If you still wants to give it a try then choose the motor above the 70mm stator dia +50mm Width (less than 100Kv). Design the appropriate Gearing to increase output torque (Timing belt Pulley or Planetary Gear System Pref.). Also, take care of the Motor Cooling Design. Use the close loop Speed controller (Based on Hall, encoder based) so it can generate max. torque on diff angle. Don't forget to use safety gears 😀.

      ESCs drive motor coils above 20kHz so we don't hear them, but dogs sure can haha

    Love these quick-hit vids sometimes. Well done on the reduction. Did I hear belt slip at the end though? That means the belt is a bit loose (as you know), or there is more power to be had with that motor. Were you topped out with that set up in terms of speed?

      Yes, you heard the belt slip noise, I think it is happening because the motor is generating enough power but that 20 teeth pully is not capable of transferring that power to the 300 teeth pully and I think, It can be solved by replacing the 20 teeth pully with the pully which has higher no of teeth.

    really nicely engineered project components! very impressive set of skills!
    Did you measure the power consumed by the ESC? I would find that very interesting. I suppose the motor is not putting out 480W of power.
    I'm curious to see a follow up video.

      definitely putting out a tiny fraction of 480W lol. It's called a power meter. Many ways to implement. Measure the magnetic field. Put a precise shunt resistor in series with one of the power input leads and measure the voltage across the shunt. If homie pedaled a bit and got the motor deeper into the powerband I bet it would put out more torque, and even if not, it would be spinning faster, thus more powerful.

    If it can't reach 220 RPM, measure how much it can reach and make it spin at that RPM. It'll decrease the current drawing.

    Actually you can't run drone motor for long time because heat dissipation is very less... Like power tools motor can't replace induction motor. Power input doesn't make sense... Power output should be same...

    I think motors should be rated using a different format. KV already means Kilovolts...
    Why this already-taken format is also used for the irrelevant speed/voltage rating for a motor, snd become standard, is beyond me...
    Why not KRPM/V ? Its not like that's cumbersome in any way. 🤷‍♂️

      Why not? Ideas have to be tested by several people. Of course you should credit to the people you got your idea from but it is possible that two or more people have the same idea. This realization looks different from Tom Stanton's.

      I just wanted to clarify that I never mentioned a million-volt electric motor. It seems that you may not be familiar with Brushless Motors, which is why you asked that question. What I actually mentioned was a 1000kv Brushless Motor. The term Kv refers to the motor velocity constant, which is a measure of the relationship between the speed of a Brushless DC Motor (BLDC) and the voltage applied to it. This constant is usually expressed in units of revolutions per minute per volt (RPM/V). I hope this explanation makes it clear. Thank you for watching!

      Not kilovolt, AFAIK. It's how many rpm per volt applied the motor will spin unloaded.
