I love how he is not ashamed or in denial for his rom-com roles. This man is so iconic. And takes those interviews really serious. No goofing around with Matthew.
There is two stories he tells of it. One has to do with a live doors album where I think it's jim morrison or someone on the album says "alright, alright, alright, alright" like a few times... Who knows at this point which one is actually the story behind it. And I don't think matt remembers at this point either haha.
The only thing I can come up with is maybe there was a certain amount of time allotted for this interview and there wasn't enough time... however I agree, if they are going to do something like this, give the man plenty of time!!
You would think based off Dazed and Confused role, he would ONLY be able to play that type of character. Or only be remembered as that character in every he’s in. He was able to play any role! Great guy and actor!
Currently watching True Detective for the first time and oh my gosh this man is great! I don’t think I’ve ever truly paid attention to him as a serious actor, but I have a new respect for him.
The first time I saw Matthew was in the video for "Walkaway Joe" by Trisha Yearwood featuring Don Henley. The first time I saw him in a movie, I fell in love with his voice. That's my "Rhett" sound!! Be still my heart!!
Mud is hands down his best role and performance ever, because it is both completely up his alley as this kinda charming southern outlaw, but also not up his alley, because the outlaw is not just charming, but just kind of an odd man.
Sahara! Tropic Thunder! Interstellar! Seriously? They think we can’t handle more than a few minutes of MM? Is there an extended Director’s Cut of this?
I was here for Lincoln Lawyer, interstellar... And I know I'll catch **** for it... Reign of Fire tbh. For some reason I love Reign of Fire. I don't even like Dragons. But I love that movie.
Hes the only person i know who was losing his hair at a pretty toung age as you can see in the wedding planner and i heard he shaved his head bald and would put this special treatment and rub it all over his head every night and eventually it grew back a lot fuller
I'm bummed Interstellar got a Magic Mike Dallas "no, no, no, no, no" for this video. It would've been cool to hear McConaughey's insight into some of the most emotional scenes of his entire career. As for Buster Moon, I've only seen Sing 2, but it's odd to me that an actor like McConaughey who has such an iconic voice would not just do his own voice when cast in a voice role. That's like if Morgan Freeman had chosen to do some other voice for his role in The Lego Movie.
I came here to see if anyone else noticed lol I mean vanity fair does something similar but at least their segment name is different from GQ's. (Also VF gets a pass cuz that segment has been around for a longtime where as this feels like hitching to GQ's success)
I read all the Dirk Pitt novels because of Sahara. People tool on it because it didn't make back it's production. That's just bad planning or execution. He was a great Dirk Pitt, and William H. Macy was a perfect Sandecker. Steve Zahn is a good actor but not Al (sorry - Steve = not your fault). The "Panama" scene ? They sailed an airplane!

This is why Ut Austin made him a professor.
Loved hearing the back story of “alright alright alright”

Dang, they skipped a bucket load of great movies. Mud, Lincoln Lawyer, Wolf of Wall Street, Tropic Thunder, freaking Interstellar.
Whaaaat! How can they skip those!
The only thing I can come up with is maybe there was a certain amount of time allotted for this interview and there wasn't enough time... however I agree, if they are going to do something like this, give the man plenty of time!!
Interstellar aswell
Although U-571 is historically BS it's still one my favorites of his and wished he talked abt it
To have your first lines on film be that iconic is such a compliment
Incredible actor! So many amazing roles! And I could listen to that sexy drawl alllllll day
The ultimate cool guy. My fave was True Detective!!
Should've covered more of his career , especially "Mud", "Contact" or "Interstellar"
You would think based off Dazed and Confused role, he would ONLY be able to play that type of character. Or only be remembered as that character in every he’s in. He was able to play any role! Great guy and actor!
How dare you skip Interstellar!!
Killer Joe, Mud, and The Gentlemen

The Wedding Planner is my favorite RomCom of his. JLo and him were great!
The lamest of his movies
It’s definitely a corny movie but I’ve always loved it too. 😊
Haven’t seen half of these films, but I watched the full video because I like the sound of his voice
This man kinda growing on me lmao. I'm late to the game but I find something special about how he tell a story.

The Sea of Trees is without a doubt his most underrated movie, IMO. 10/10
One of the best Actors We ever had.

9:55 Buster: for the last time, Miss Crawly, i'm not gonna to fire you.
Good but should have added Reign of Fire - even Entertainment Weekly gave his performance an A+.
Dallas Buyers Club was one of his movies that surprised me at how good it was and how great he was in it!
Always dazed and confused when I think about the man in this role
Get high 😂❤
A+ video!
Great to hear him talk about the process of his roles!
I really enjoy it. He's awesome. 🌹💫👑💚💋😍🔥
08.07 is True Detective.
Season One of True Detective is one of, if not the best, T.V shows I have ever seen.
Mud is hands down his best role and performance ever, because it is both completely up his alley as this kinda charming southern outlaw, but also not up his alley, because the outlaw is not just charming, but just kind of an odd man.
Thats sweet to do a kids movie for the kids
He's such a cool cat!!!
0:24 Jay Lenos long lost son
Excellent.
Should have put his debut into acting - his Unsolved Mysteries role
Love you ❤❤❤
Ultra carisma
What a way to get your SAG card. Improvising an iconic 3 word line.
This is a good dude, and now a good family dude.
Sahara! Tropic Thunder! Interstellar! Seriously? They think we can’t handle more than a few minutes of MM? Is there an extended Director’s Cut of this?
Alright alright alright
Him and JLo should do another movie together ❤
the fact that Interstellar wasn't included is a CRIME. A CRIME!!
I like you and hope you produce more cognitiv good for those how capitulate, avoid or overcompensate their fail aut their in society.
I was here for Lincoln Lawyer, interstellar... And I know I'll catch **** for it... Reign of Fire tbh. For some reason I love Reign of Fire. I don't even like Dragons. But I love that movie.
How do u skip so many great films! The ones they skipped are some of my favorites
Omg!!! Interstellar!!!

How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days is his best movie!

Please please do another True Detective with Woody.
Have you ever seen him in the Texas Chainsaw movie with Renee Zellweger?! Terrible movie, but he makes it so worth the time!
where is contact?!
Why would you skip interstellar???
Hes the only person i know who was losing his hair at a pretty toung age as you can see in the wedding planner and i heard he shaved his head bald and would put this special treatment and rub it all over his head every night and eventually it grew back a lot fuller
what is the line?
Boys on the Side 🩷

Imagine if he was a part of the Invincible cast

Did you steal GQs video series
Alright, alright, alright
The shirt .. i think. Libran got same ..taste.. blue or white❤
Doesn’t GQ do the exact same thing?
I came here to see if anyone else noticed lol I mean vanity fair does something similar but at least their segment name is different from GQ's. (Also VF gets a pass cuz that segment has been around for a longtime where as this feels like hitching to GQ's success)
What about Fools Gold ! Hahaha
Interstellar!!!! 🤯
erm... you skipped his best movie. Y'all know which one.
