An older Batman we need. An older Batman we got in Ben Affleck. He is also a comic book fan, and I think Batman in particular. He would have done the character and the movie justice.
A weird thing for me is how he accepted the character mostly because a couple of movies later he was gonna be killed, and in his second full appearance he already looked exhausted.
I would've loved to see him in a good batman movie though. That was very convoluted and busy and the race to get a universe built for DC movies seems to have affected just how good a story or movie could be per character. Jesse eisenberg as Luthor was just terrible.
He seems like such a down to earth kind of guy, really humble and loves what hes does or a living. He keeps saying how lucky he is. Throwing flowers to the tech crew, coworkers and talent involved in his movies. Really cool to hear!
theplourde Kevin never held it against Ben but Kevin also knows how serious marriage is and would never want to be the reason that people split. Now that they are though they are trying to fix that relationship. Especially with little cameos like in the jay and bob reboot and speaking about eachother it’s always done with the upmost respect.
Love this guy to death. Started following his career right after BvS and became a fan. I loved 'The Town', 'Gone Girl' and obviously his role of Batman in BvS. I wish Warner restores the Snyderverse and also let Ben direct his own solo Batman movie.

The sad thing is, that even though Ben says, that he lost the drive to direct and star in The Batman, you can clearly see how much he loves the character and how much passion he put in playing him. It`s unfair, that we won`t get to see his full potential as Batman. Even so I`m glad, that Ben`s getting better. He is a good actor and a director and he didn`t deserve a lot of stuff he got in a last couple of years...

I think he does. Even people that absolutely hate BvS seem to love Batfleck. His disinterest in Justice League is understandable and most seem to get it.

At least if Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League comes out people would be able to see his Batman again in full BvS glory.

An older Batman we need. An older Batman we got in Ben Affleck. He is also a comic book fan, and I think Batman in particular. He would have done the character and the movie justice.
How do I dislike a comment till it’s deleted
A weird thing for me is how he accepted the character mostly because a couple of movies later he was gonna be killed, and in his second full appearance he already looked exhausted.
19:36 boy did Zack really shine with his true vision finally coming to materialize into a fantastic 4 hour long DC film that we all hoped for.
I first read a "fantastic 4 long DC film" lol
Fantastic 4 is marvel film or am I reading this wrong
Yep I did
It was kinda..eh. Mediocre at best.
Agreed
I was hoping The Accountant would be on here...sigh
Underrated
Nicholas Loduca it definitely should’ve been
scrolled down while the episode was going and now i don't wanna finish.. lol
I was thinking the same thing... Such an amazing movie.
God I love that film, watched it like 5 times
Till this day, Ben Affleck is still my favorite Batman and Bruce Wayne. Thank you Mr. Affleck for being such a great talented actor and director.
"The Accountant" was a great movie... I've watched it more than Armageddon... at least 6 times.
It was ok
same
Yeah it’s one of those movies that I loved but I haven’t rewatched since I saw it
Good movie but i watch armageddon every few months
Hearing Ben speak with all the same love and admiration for Kevin Smith is just SO good to hear again. Glad they mended that gap.
What caused it? Was it the wife?
@@fe5018 Jennifer was the reason she called kevin crude and rude and just didnt like him and she put that mentality into ben
THE NOISE really. I am surprised by that. I mean he is but to hold that against him and put that into bens head is...cruel?
theplourde Kevin never held it against Ben but Kevin also knows how serious marriage is and would never want to be the reason that people split.
If you only started following him after BvS then you missed his entire career…
I'll always be in Affleck's corner. I love that guy,
Not more than me lol
Same.
Ben was a great Batman; I will shout it front the rooftops until I die and I will fight anyone who says otherwise
Also where's Gone Girl and The Accountant?
"Martha"
More like he could have been.
He is Batman!
Jet he is Batman did you read the dark Knight returns that his version of the character mcu fanboy I bet you never read comic in your life
@@chillpillz6793 Lol wtf. Im apparently an MCU fanboy and I have never read a comic in my life? Wrong on both of those as I have always preferred DC.
Would have been great to hear him speak on The Accountant. That’s one of my favorite movies with Ben
I loved bvs and Ben was one of the biggest reasons. He played that role fantastically. Favorite Batman.
Agreed!
Bless your heart child.
George Clooneys nipples were my favorite Batman
Loved him on The Accountant! Would've loved to hear his take on that. Waiting with bells on for the sequel! I love seeing him look so happy and healthy. He is an icon
much love is given back to you guys
Wait what?? A sequel... heading to Google now to search.... thx
ARGO was flipping amazing!
Not better than Chasing Amy.
That last airport scene was so intense. When i watched it, i had no clue that movie was directed by him
The Town and The Way Back is awesome....
Baqari Mindadze I miss BatFleck, I know he said he lost interest in the character but I hope he could come back one day.
Ben: Michael has a clear distinct directing style that everyone can recognize.
*Shows 50 explosions at once*
But everybody recognize it haha
Yea they got some comedy into that one, well done GQ :)
Im guessing this is about the movie pearl harbor. just watched team America world police and recognized Ben Affleck and Michael bay so...
I know everyone wanted him to talk about Gone Girl but I’m just happy he talked about Chasing Amy 😭✨
really wish he did his own batman movie. best scene was that warhouse scene.
You can see the love for movies in Ben. I love that.
I've always loved the Frank Miller version of Batman and thought Affleck really did a great job. It's a shame that Snyder couldn't finish it.. Especially now we know how good it could have been. Ben really wanted great things for his version of Batman but he got screwed over big time.
Yeah, it's absolutely a shame that all the production issues and studio interference killed his Passion. He did such a good job with what he was given as Batman and to this day is the best looking and DEFINITELY had the best choreography of a movie Batman thus far
BRUNT!!!
The town is the best ben Affleck movie.
Agreed
Gone girl doode
Screwface Capital 💯
It's up there. But nr 1 has to be between Gigli and Daredevil. 😂
Debatable. I think Good Will Hunting is Ben Affleck's Best film he ever worked on.
I really wish he knows how the entire comic fans loved him as Batman in BvS.
I think he does. Even people that absolutely hate BvS seem to love Batfleck. His disinterest in Justice League is understandable and most seem to get it.
So cool to hear him shout out his brother and how much he believed in him. I slept on Casey until Manchester by the Sea and now I’ll never doubt his talent as an actor.
Man I love hearing Ben talk about how much he loved doing Batman v Superman.
I love the film and he was great in it but I feel like his Batman will constantly be tanked now by Josstice League.
Same here. I'm glad he looks back on it fondly, especially because of how much I love the movie. It's good to know that he didn't regret doing it or anything like that.
It aint Joss’s fault... chill. The script was crap to begin with
@@Luke101 You never read it. We know enough about it now thanks to ZACK SNYDER that it would've been a completely different film. IS a completely different film. Joss Whedon raped it either way. Sit down.
Dan Y It still wasn’t Joss’s fault though. He was just obviously doing what Warner Bros. wanted him to do. He was doing his job. They hired him and brought him in. It’s WB’s fault.
Dan Y Zack is a hack. Always will be
Seeing him talking about BvS and Zack Snyder with passion and praise is very saddening. We could've had so much more of his awesome Batman if WB did not ruin Justice League. As a matter of fact I really liked his idea of solo Batman movie with Deathstroke as villain. At least if Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League comes out people would be able to see his Batman again in full BvS glory.
Nacitav Osimac 🙏
The Batman - Agreed!
Snyder should have never been given the keys to the whole DC movie universe. He has no substance. He’s much better as a Visionary
Nacitav. Y'all have nothing but yourselves to blame for that. All of that complaining about dc being too dark and brought josh whedom in to help with the movie and messed it up smfh
He’s ruined his opportunity himself when he literally drowned himself in booze while being at the helm of The Batman and got really out of shape for the reshoots.
I'm an Affleck fan. Dude seems genuine. I appreciate his talents and enjoy his characters.
I dont know why, but I always had a negative skew toward Ben Affleck, but this definitely changed that. What an insightful guy.
Probably because he’s constantly being bashed in tabloid magazines as someone who is addicted to pills, drinks all the time and cheats on his wife
The Kids Nice I really think it’s impossible to imagine what’s it’s like to become famous at 20 and having the world watch everything you do, especially now in the internet age. It must be so much on your psyche
This is such a good interview and how hes back to normal this is the real ben !!! Ben is back
He deserves one more shot of Batman it's a shame he didnt make his Batman trilogy
Elliot Perkins it’s a relief he didn’t make a Batman trilogy
We've got a new Batman now, let it go already
The real Ben is the one that has been through the good and the bad. The "real" Ben is not one or the other, or the one we as an audience want to particularly see, but the sum of all the Bens that have faced good and bad days and have created a really cool and mature person.
He was always normal Ben. Every one has good days and bad days. That’s normal.
@@df4196 I highly disagree. He wasn't in the right place or normal when he did all that. Wake up and see the truth
Best character break down video I’ve watched. What a humble, passionate guy.
Ben Affleck has become one of my favorite actors and I plan on watching all of his movies
“Ben Affleck could play the shark in jaws”
-Kevin Smith
wondering what he meant by that
i think he is high in this interview , i actually thought my speed on the video was plus 2 on the speed
His old teeth
@@Aceinthehole318 so what if he is?
@@edgarallanpoe8917 he's supposed to be in recovery. Seems like he's on coke here or some kind of upper
"The Town" freaking rules, IMAO it's Ben's best film. The acting and the action is super intense. Jeremy Renner is great in it as well.
Ben Affleck: "And sometimes, you have to go back to the well.
Matt Damon: And sometimes, you do Reindeer Games.
Ben Affleck: See, that's just mean".
Ah, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Such a funny movie. So MANY memorable quotes.
He still looks like Bruce Wayne
H he is
Yeah...ben affleck still looks like ben affleck
As he gets older he looks more and more like dark knight returns Batman imo
FunkyNectar Bird I agree bro. Christian bale was my favorite but Ben Affleck definitely had the perfect look for Bruce Wayne in my opinion. Reminiscent of the animated series along with frank miller iterations
I don’t care what anyone says - his Batman and Bruce Wayne have been the most comic book accurate look in live action so far.
Affleck is so multitalented yet still gets overlooked. hes amazing
I really enjoyed him as Batman. Wish he’d stayed in the role
Agree!
prediction: people will love the snyder cut and want batfleck back to fight darkseid
Man...I can't help but think that Ben's solo Batman movie would've been something truly special. I don't think Christopher Nolan was chomping at the bit to make a Batman film and look what he did.
Affleck should give himself more credit. I know it's extremely unlikely but I hope it still gets made.
@@joshualeon3223 Indeed, it's a shame it didn't pan out. Heck, Joe Manganiello was also pretty pumped to play Deathstroke in it. Too bad we'll never see it. :/
Apparently he might be a Batman again in a hbo series
You can tell that justice league really hurt him with joss whedon and how he was fully committed to Zacks vision
Love how politic he was with the contrast on BvS and Justice League. Would love to get his views on making the Snyder Cut Justice League..... especially with the additional shoots he did over the last year. WB really screwed the pooch with the Theatrical Release of Justice League.
Robin Williams did his masterpiece Goodwill Hunting performance in just three weeks? That's incredible.
Hearing him talk about JL is tough, WB screwed up a lot of plans by being hasty and listening to the blue check marks. We could've had 4-5 more movies by now and been done with Zack's saga already but now nobody is happy
Zacks movies were garbage so Im glad it didnt happen.
@@anirudhmenon4234 you're garbage
Sorry dude. But Ben Affleck was cut off the project coz of alcoholism, he was in rehab twice that year. It was all on him leaving the project, period
@@yopeepthestyle8308 lol ok
carrottoponcrak Im just saying affleck wouldnt have been part of it either way due to his personal issues unfortunately
I honestly think Ben is a great actor. He plays a great older Batman. It’s unfair that he gets knocked for being in a not so great storyline
Was all in until the save Martha bit. Alas
I wish I could’ve heard his insight on Boiler Room. Definitely one of my favorite Affleck performances.
"He obviously has a very iconic style..that you can recognize"
Hard cut to: Boom, Blam, KABOOM!
Love it.
I'm surprised The Accountant didn't make this list.
Superbly crafted and acted film.
same and im surprised dogma didn't either since he was talking about Kevin smith helping him with his indi films
Such an underrated movie. I’ve seen autistic people say it’s the best portrayal of autism they’ve seen in film.
right its one of his best films
He looks younger in this segment than in anything in the past couple years
Ben Affleck is like a fine wine. He's only gotten better with age.
I wouldn't mention alcohol around him though...
I agree! I never did think he was cute until he got older.
I cant agree with this. I loved himmmmmmm in the late 90's and early 2000's. So good looking!!
Hes only gotten more drunk with age...
Hugely disagree. You must have vision problems.
He’s one of my top 5 actors I enjoy watching his films! He’s a great director as well so I hate that he receives so much dislike. It makes me extremely happy to see all the love for him in the comments section!
After watching this I have a newfound respect for Ben Affleck.
Good Will Hunting is one of my top 3 favourite movies, Each actor played their part perfectly.
Very fun to see that this guy is a humbleman. I will watch his films with a different sense of vigor. Love The Town!!! One of my go to faves!
Really wanted to hear him talk about The Accountant. He’s never played a role like that before. A character so internalized; an adult with high-functional autism. His scenes at the end with Jon Bernthal were layered and beautiful.
The best. #BenAffleckIsOurBatman #ReleaseTheSnyderCut
Ben is brilliant. So genuine. Love listening to his view.
I absolutely love that him and Kevin Smith are back on good terms. Love them both so much. And to see Ben in such good health is great. Awesome video and great insights into his career. Only wish he had talked a little bit about Gone Baby Gone and Gone Girl.
When were they not? Just curious about the timeline.
Byron Z people.com/movies/kevin-smith-takes-the-blame-for-no-longer-being-on-speaking-terms-with-ben-affleck/

Oliver Smith that was definitely the right call for his directorial debut. Just direct. Don’t pull double duty with acting too on your first time.
Seeing them reconnect was awesome. I really loved Ben's performance on Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.
Why no Gone Girl?
They also forgot Gigli!
it's an incredible movie... but there's nothing iconic about his character.
