@@muntyal-bazaz2663 Zack Snyder was the original director of the movie, then he left in mid production because his daughter passed away. The WB hired Joss Whedon to finish it but he ended up changing Zack's story....long story short, the result was...horrible and fans had to call for Zack's version to be released, which was the case this year, and it was a hundered times better than the movie theater version. There you go !

It wasn't the most showy role but it definitely was very nuanced & showed how much Ben Affleck had improved as an actor & his movie choices & the stories he wanted to tell & the performances he wanted to give. I'd say Gone Girl led him on that path.

I'll never get why people mug off Affleck. The guy won an Oscar for co-writing a screenplay. He directed The Town which was critically acclaimed and Argo which won best picture. He proved all the doubters wrong when he played Batman and is in fact one of the best realisations of that character. I've always liked the guy since Mallrats so I am always happy when he is doing well and really hope to see Batfleck on screen again.

Yeah I think some of it is everything that happened to the movie but also how he was mentally (and physically) at the time, it might be hard to look back on that time

Yeah joss whedon blew it but even though I thought the Snyder cut was decent I really think his DCEU would still suck bc of his objectivist thinking and his fundamental misunderstanding of Superman as a character
Funny you mention that, because I was thinking the same thing about him and Kevin Smith. I know they'd patched things up by this point, but he still seemed a bit hesitant to talk about his relationship with Smith.

Good Will Hunting is a great movie but now go watch Ordinary People, it's really similar. It was obviously an inspiration for them.
GWH but Ben Affleck and Matt Damon on the map in Hollywood. It’s incredible to me how maybe the best movie of their careers was one of the first ones they ever did.
you can see his passion talking about Batman vs Superman to the point that 90% of the conversation of BvS/JL is about BvS.
My heart breaks for him at 19:35 when he clears his throat & can't look up. He's my batman because of the approach they took with the character. He did a great job showing so much complexities within Bruce & his Batman was so aggressive. Very underrated & underappreciated adaptation of the character imo.
I love how they skipped over a whole decade of his career, also not including Gone Girl is criminal I think that is one of his best performances.

While this is true, I hate "based on a true story" movies because they are full of inaccuracies. Including Argo. Its a shame.

Yeah, you can see how much he loves the character and Zack, and how much fun he had doing BvS. But when he's speaking about the Josstice League, you can see he's carefully thinking what to say, chosing words, he really is sad that it happened and he had to give up that role so he can still have a career. He knows how much the studio and Whedon butchered the movie and Batman trying to be a Marvel movie.

@@zauxst comedians have claimed he steals jokes. But its the product of his style, he was one of those types of comics that riff and just follow the crowds flow, didnt really have a set, so hed sometimes tell jokes that hed heard before as a transition. But since he passed nobody brings it up.

Love this guy to death. Started following his career right after BvS and became a fan. I loved 'The Town', 'Gone Girl' and obviously his role of Batman in BvS. I wish Warner restores the Snyderverse and also let Ben direct his own solo Batman movie.

Ben Affleck may have a lot of misses movie wise-but Gone Girl, The Accountant,The Town and his portrayal as Ben Affleck/Batman is one of my favourites EVER!

Kinda heartbreaking how everyone shitted on BvS yet he still has fond memories of it. I thought he was great as Batman (on BvS) and you could really see him sweat for the role - it‘s cool to hear him talk so positively about it despite its failures with connecting with the audience

BvS wasn't a good movie, but it wasn't Affleck's fault. It was ruined in post-production by studio heads instead of allowing the original directors vision (like most of the Fox, Universal, WB, w/e Superhero movies of pre-Marvel), the set-up was rushed, and there was way too much Martha. Most people praised Affleck and liked the fact that it was a different, more grizzled version of Batman than we'd seen before.
I love BvS. I own the directors cut. It’s worth the 3 hours for a clearer narrative.
He seems like such a down to earth kind of guy, really humble and loves what hes does or a living. He keeps saying how lucky he is. Throwing flowers to the tech crew, coworkers and talent involved in his movies. Really cool to hear!

I write this even as a largely unsuccessful actor: when working on even small films it becomes quickly clear to anyone paying attention to the production dimensions that MANY things have to be executed well by other people in order for the actors to succeed, and even more things have to be done for the film to succeed. Affleck talks at several points here about his early interest in making (and not just acting in) films, which means he would rightfully downplay the focus on any individual actor's role (including himself).

I've always loved the Frank Miller version of Batman and thought Affleck really did a great job. It's a shame that Snyder couldn't finish it.. Especially now we know how good it could have been. Ben really wanted great things for his version of Batman but he got screwed over big time.
Yeah, it's absolutely a shame that all the production issues and studio interference killed his Passion. He did such a good job with what he was given as Batman and to this day is the best looking and DEFINITELY had the best choreography of a movie Batman thus far

An older Batman we need. An older Batman we got in Ben Affleck. He is also a comic book fan, and I think Batman in particular. He would have done the character and the movie justice.

A weird thing for me is how he accepted the character mostly because a couple of movies later he was gonna be killed, and in his second full appearance he already looked exhausted.
So cool to hear him shout out his brother and how much he believed in him. I slept on Casey until Manchester by the Sea and now I’ll never doubt his talent as an actor.
"The Town" freaking rules, IMAO it's Ben's best film. The acting and the action is super intense. Jeremy Renner is great in it as well.
"The Accountant" was a great movie... I've watched it more than Armageddon... at least 6 times.

I don’t care what anyone says - his Batman and Bruce Wayne have been the most comic book accurate look in live action so far.
He’s one of my top 5 actors I enjoy watching his films! He’s a great director as well so I hate that he receives so much dislike. It makes me extremely happy to see all the love for him in the comments section!

Man...I can't help but think that Ben's solo Batman movie would've been something truly special. I don't think Christopher Nolan was chomping at the bit to make a Batman film and look what he did.

I would've loved to see him in a good batman movie though. That was very convoluted and busy and the race to get a universe built for DC movies seems to have affected just how good a story or movie could be per character. Jesse eisenberg as Luthor was just terrible.

theplourde Kevin never held it against Ben but Kevin also knows how serious marriage is and would never want to be the reason that people split. Now that they are though they are trying to fix that relationship. Especially with little cameos like in the jay and bob reboot and speaking about eachother it’s always done with the upmost respect.

I loved bvs and Ben was one of the biggest reasons. He played that role fantastically. Favorite Batman.

The way he explains why he gave up the batman role makes so much sense and I totally understand it now. I hated seeing him go knowing the potential that he could’ve brought to the role, but I get his decision.

Seeing him talking about BvS and Zack Snyder with passion and praise is very saddening. We could've had so much more of his awesome Batman if WB did not ruin Justice League. As a matter of fact I really liked his idea of solo Batman movie with Deathstroke as villain. At least if Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League comes out people would be able to see his Batman again in full BvS glory.

The real Ben is the one that has been through the good and the bad. The "real" Ben is not one or the other, or the one we as an audience want to particularly see, but the sum of all the Bens that have faced good and bad days and have created a really cool and mature person.

I grew up watching Pearl Harbor and became passionate about the real historical event and fell in love with it. The movie was amazing and I wished he'd talked more about it! I had no idea it quote bombed; I wonder why.
I still think Ben Affleck’s Dogma performance is so underrated. He really killed that role especially at the end when God ends him.
