I'm glad that he and Turner became friends, because this series is a good example of character development.
Turner initially wants the bounty on Jack's head, but comes to realize that he did so for selfish reasons and decided to save him from being hung at the yardarn.
When I look back on this my first impression is that Jack is like Robin Hood, if Robin Hood was a pirate captain. Is he drunk? Almost always. Is he a hit with the ladies? Probably not. Does he have a heart of gold? Definitely, even though gold is really all he cares about.
Anyway, enough puns for now. The point is, I think he's misunderstood by some people. He views his crew as family, even if they have a tendency to squabble every now and then. Most pirate captains would view their crew as expendable pawns in a much bigger game, especially because they have a reputation of being greedy and that greed eventually manifests into paranoia, all so that the captain can live like a king while his crew is forced to grovel at his feet.
Jack isn't like that. That's honestly one of the reasons that he's a fan favorite, even though he's a fictional character.
It would be cool if there was Jack Sparrow in Assassin's Creed 4 just as an easter egg

because as clumsy and cowardly as Jack Sparrow is, you can tell he's a pirate. As good as One Piece is, I've never seen them as pirates and more like guys with superpowers fighting in a pirate themed world.
