I remember i would always use the ship to travel because i didnt know there was a fast travel, there was one mission where i had to go to the assassins island and i was on the opposite side of the world. I sailed for like 1-2 hours. I was so in love with sailing it so i never cared to find out there was a fast travel, such a good fucking game. Wish i could go back to those days

I could be wrong but the meaning I infer from that statement is that gold is the reason they are criminals/pirates and, because of its very existence in the world, they cannot possibly be good men (“heroes”). Gold was indeed what they were after, as were most pirates of the time.

As a mariner myself, Leave Her Johnny is the most fitting shanty out of the bunch. Each verse describes the trials, hardships, and joys of being on the water.
