Fallout 4 - Building at Vault 88 (10 - Guards Quarters, Classroom and Player Apartment)

  • This series covers the construction of my settlement at Vault 88. Apart from Place Everywhere no settlement object mods were used, and only uses vanilla and DLC objects.
    In this part I create sleeping quarters and small bathroom for the overseer’s guards, along with a storage room and corridors linking the Atrium and Overseers Office areas. I also create a Classroom area and a room that will function as a research lab, and a small apartment overlooking the Atrium that can be used for the player.
    The lighting in most of these rooms is temporary and will likely change once they are decorated.

    At this point in the build, every time you add a hallway & doorway piece, I'm thinking, "ANOTHER ROOM?!" lol

      lol, the vault at this point is still not done as there are still two more parts after this 😉🤣. Must admit it did come back to bite me when it came time to get this place furnished and decorated... Felt like a never-ending task as each time I thought I was done I found new rooms and sections I forgot I had built 😅.

    I like that the Player apartment is on the same level across from the Overseer. Like a two consuls type of situation.

    Not much more to add to what others have said, so I'll just say, that vault is freakin' INSANE! Right from 'go' you went off and holy freak, the level you went to is manic genius. I get the sense that the whole thing evolved organically as you made your way through. Nicely done, and just wow! And I do mean WOW! Decorations..., I don't think my mind could handle it...,

      Lol, I dread to think how long that would take me! 😱 I don’t normally show the decorating stages of my builds, but have added a few for this series to try and help break up the monotony of building some many empty vault rooms and corridors. Great to hear you enjoyed the vid, thanks! 😁

    I like to use the wireless mod for my settlements especially for Vault 88

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  Год назад

      Never used any of the wireless power mods, certainly would have made powering up certain sections a little easier. For normal settlements I have to admit to liking the look of having power cables visibly running between buildings, although I do normally go for a slightly scrappy look and probably would not work for cleaner style builds.

    At 9:59 when you’re adding the corner and hallway pieces, they come into contact with the edge of the cavern. You manage to snap them on still but for whatever reason this isn’t working for me. I would have to manually place them each time which wouldn’t work for everything. Was wondering what you do to get them snap even when they’re colliding with other parts of the map besides place everywhere (i’m also using this mod). Thanks!

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  Год назад +1

      If you are using Place Everywhere then you might have Surface Snapping enabled (pressing F2 will toggle this on or off). I almost always build with this turned off, if its on it could be preventing those pieces snapping for you.

    Yo, regarding the lights that you're putting up, I know you've already done a ton using the method you have by this point so it'd be tedious to go back and change it all, but, if you feel like doing so, I recommend downloading the Vault 88 Essentials by sethnorris23! It basically gives you a ton more rooms and also allows you to snap the lights to the roof and walls in the places they were supposed to be snapped to. It takes a ton of drama away from placing all the lights by hand in very few places that work due to the weird collisions on the roof regarding where lights can be placed! Give it a look if you have the time, it's got a ton of really good additions!

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  2 года назад +2

      For all the builds currently on my channel I purposely restrict myself to only using vanilla and DLC assets, partly as a challenge and also it makes life so much easier for anyone wanting to use my blueprints and not have to download a bunch of additional mods.
      Must admit I was sorely tempted to use a lighting mod for this build and to expand the limited number of vault pieces, but wanted to keep to my existing vanilla styled building theme. If I do move on to fully modded builds I’ll certainly look into that V88 Essentials mod, and thanks for the suggestion!

    How much more of the vault is left to complete?

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  2 года назад

      Thankfully not too much more! I need to create a small set of utility corridors that exit out to the east sector and build up around the water pump area, so one or two more building vids at most. Will then just need to get the place fully decorated ready for the finished tour 😁.

      @@FiddleflapsVidsAre you going to have tunnels connecting to the water pump area?

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  2 года назад +2

      I’ll be using the existing train tunnels with entrances back into the vault sections at either end, rather than trying to use vault pieces all the way. There's also the steep slope near the water pump that links back to where I have already built the northeast entrance, and will be building a series of stairs and a small security office to link those areas together.

    id love to build this but he doesn't show you how he powered his vault so its impossible to make this

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  2 года назад +1

      This build is powered using the reactor that comes as part of the settlement. As long as you have vault pieces connected to the entrance power will flow through them. To get lights and other powered objects to work you then need to place Vault Power Conduits on to the walls, which radiate power to around 5 vault pieces (might be a little more).
      Hopefully that explains how my vault is getting its power, if not this should - ruclips.net/video/Kegj5AjucWc/видео.html
