  • This series covers the construction of my settlement at Vault 88. Apart from Place Everywhere no settlement object mods were used, and only uses vanilla and DLC objects.
    In this part I finish off the main vault area by creating a set of utility corridors linking the vault to the ruined train tunnels leading to the east sector. In the east sector itself I create a large structure that provides power to the water pump, along with what will be a control room, and a break room and bathroom for the settlers working there.

    Wow, the building area is HUGE. I know I'm repeating myself but I can't wait to see it decorated since decorating is my favorite part. By the way, what's your favorite settlement?

      Vault 88 does give you a lot a space to play with although I am not planning on using it all, and this is the last sector I am building in. I am also looking forward to getting this place all finished up, been add some decoration and furnishing as I go but still expect it to take a while to get it all finished 😔.
      Not sure I really have a favourite settlement… I guess it would either be Kingsport Lighthouse or Tenpines Bluff as I like the views they provide.

      Glad you liked it, thanks! Have just got the final building part done so can finally start getting this place decorated and finished up (although I expect it’s going to take me a while 😅).

    Can we see more videos with you decorating things? Also a run-through after each area has been decorated before going to the next one would be cool. Just to see a 'before' and 'after' as well would be nice. Maybe we get a few decorating vids, with the run-through after each, then one big 'completed build+finished decor' video.
    Love your work, btw. I know you don't do a lot of mods, but I was wondering if you could maybe do a few modded Player homes. Namely the ones that are empty and have settlement builder enabled for them, just so we can see you take what to most would be the daunting task of furnishing a blank-slate Modded Player Home and show what can be done with minimal mods, a bit of elbow grease, and a keen eye for decor.
    Also maybe we can get a vid of you taking the Home Plate Player Home already in the game and seeing you transform it into something actually decent. Home Plate was a letdown for many because of how it was done, but I would love to see you tackle it.
    Anyway, thanks for the good stuff. Here's hoping for more.
    If you do eventually get the 'Build Anywhere' Mod, I would love to see a few freeform, no restrictions builds in random places. Personally love seeing people build bunkers or either military outposts or forts with various different designs. Would honestly love a Raider Themed build for something.

      I generally don’t show furnishing and decorating during my build vids, as its something I prefer to take my time over and hopefully gives people an incentive to watch the finished tours. I made an exception for the vault as there’s not really that much you can do with its pieces and did not want to have a series of just plain empty similar looking rooms.
      As they take far longer to make I unfortunately don’t plan to regularly add furnishing and decorating vids, but will most likely do the odd one for certain builds like I did at Starlight (which you might enjoy if you have not already seen it):
      Building at Starlight - Part 12
      ruclips.net/video/miIUpEcttwQ/видео.html
      I have already done a build at Home Plate (it was the first vid I uploaded to this channel 😊), and recently did a player home build for the Gun for Hire mod:
      Home Plate
      ruclips.net/video/v3GEf2TD3x4/видео.html
      Gun for Hire Office
      ruclips.net/video/HZYvXRxULB4/видео.html
      I had a lot of fun making the Gun for Hire Office (it’s also a great mod) so will be on the lookout for similar locations when I want to take a break from regular settlement building. If I ever achieve my goal of completing a build at each of the games standard locations (including the DLC’s ) I’ll certainly be looking into modded locations or mods that let you build anywhere 😁.
      Great to hear you are enjoying the vids 👍

      @@FiddleflapsVids Yeah, I watched your Starlight playlist. Really, really good.
      If you wouldn't mind showing decorating, I wouldn't mind seeing that vid at, maybe, 1.5 or 2.5 times speed. Maybe a bit of free music in the background?
      Can't wait for more.

      Most settlements take me around 20-40 hours to plan out, and is not really something I could show in normal vids. I typically have no idea what something is going to look like until I start building it, and so just start throwing pieces together until I end up with something I am happy with 😅.
      Sometimes this works out and I get lots done, but quite often end up tearing down and rebuilding most structures multiple times until I feel they look right. It’s also not uncommon for me to get halfway through a build and then just start over from scratch - which I ended doing twice for this vault 😓.

      Great to hear you and enjoying the vids, thanks! I plan to do a vanilla style build at each of the locations including the DLC’s, plus I loved Far Harbor so will definitely be heading over there at some point 😁

    How do you get the corners a d stuff to snap through the walls. I have place anywhere and it won't snap at certain points. Mostly when part of the wall is going into the rock

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  Год назад

      I use Place Everywhere which has the option to disable surface snapping (F2 by default) which I find allows me to place objects more easily. I have never used it but believe Place Anywhere has options to disable object collision within its setting holotape that might replicate the option I use.

    So how many times have you built in vault 88 ? Lol you're a pro on it. I have always just left the wings to the critters because building with a console sucks the fun out of a fart

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  Год назад

      This is the first time I have tried to seriously build here. Was never a fan of the limited vault pieces and their lacklustre lighting options, but seeing as the Vault is one of the most commonly requested locations thought it was time to give it a try 😅.

      @@FiddleflapsVids I use the vault stuff to build futuristic apartment complexes mostly lol. I did discover that you can make corner windows without glitching or using place anywhere if you don't mind a bit of shimmer that can be covered with rugs. Looks great when decorated though
