Love these lessons!! I have 2 little ones and I don't really have the time to try and transcribe it by ear. This helps a lot. I love singing and playing Elvis songs for them. Thanks!
Thx for teaching how to play his songs!! I'm a huge Elvis fan and I love to listen, sing and play his music! I think you' re doing a great job with all your tutorials! :)
u make guitar lessons so easy sir . thanks for the patience and techs you demonstrate and never stop because thanks to you i went from beginner to expert in not even a month . thanks again Mr. Andreas
many cheers from Guayaquil, Ecuador.... Great song... remember my parents,,, I´m 60 !!! this song was a hit in 1956.... three years before I born... hahaha... Tku bro'
Nice lesson, but it sounded so good when you played it in drop D, I went ahead and figured out how to play it that way. Just as easy, maybe even easier and sounds much better to my ears. Thanks, though, and keep up the good work!
I love your Elvis Presley music lessons could you do one for trying to get to you, baby what do you want me to do, lawdy miss Clawdy, in the ghetto and hound dog :)
Hey man. Just want to say i really like you as person thanks a lot for the videos their a great help and you make the teaching very easy and enjoyable. Hope you realise the gift you are giving so many people, the gift of music and making their own. Thanks again and may the gift you bestow on us be returned a thousandfold to yourself. Thanks again.
I know you must get this a lot but I really love the lessons and the tone of all your guitars and it would be really great if you could make a list or a video explaining what guitars you have the pros and cons or even give some tips to buying a guitar!:)
I suck on guitar, so I stick to singing. But you my friend are incredible. In fact I picked up a few pointers from you. With thanks! - Guy Kent, "Jersey Guy"
Hey Eric... great lesson as always ... the reason I came here today is to ask you if you have ever heard the wonderful Ultra-Slow Billy Swan version ( here on youtube if you have not ) ... and if you have ... do you have any advice as to the best way to cover it in his style. Same chords .. same key .. transposed to some other lower pattern ?? Appreciate it man !
Hey Eric ... ya ever notice how similar this song is to “Teddy Bear” and really so many other Elvis hits !? It is actually hard not to cross over from one to another when playing ... or I sometimes do it on purpose.
Would you consider doing a video on an ancient rock n' roll song .. but a Classic … the Everly Brothers " Bird Dog " ? I think you might be there first to do it here on the ol' Utube. I picked you to ask as I love your lessons and you are a fab teacher, and I feel you have a respect for the oldie goodies, as this ol' Elvis song tutorial attests.
I would funguy but it will have to go on "the list" and it is a long one ...getting longer every day! I appreciate your very kind comment. Please, stay in touch. e :)
yourguitarsage I really appreciate what you are doing on youtube. Compared to you, my teacher here in the netherlands sucks BIG TIME. keep doing what youre doing and i will watch all your videos and i hope i`ll be a great teacher like you someday XD greetings Michael.
Michael Van IJzendoorn Well, I look forward to watching you progress over the coming years. And I have no doubt that if you are diligent and practice daily, you will reach your goal and be an excellent teacher. Stay in touch and let me know how you are doing. Thank you again for your very kind comment. Keep rockin' my friend! e :)
yourguitarsage Thank you Erich I`ll keep on Rockin, Thanks for all the advices you gave me, by the way i bought a new guitar today and i will be practicing 24/7 from now on and thanks again. XD
Michael Van IJzendoorn Congrats on the new guitar. And you know how I know you will be great? Your last sentence!!!!!! Practice is what makes the average guitarist a GREAT guitarist. So great to hear your enthusiasm. Please, stay in touch!!!!!!! e :)
Erich, I'm sorry if I'm wrong but I think that the D chord was incorrect when you were teaching the boogie woogie. Your finger 2 was on B but he should have on E. Is it a part of the boogie woogie? Thanks of Brazil!
Hey there guitar sage ... love your stuff ! Two things, 1) On the ( ultra-slow ) BillySwan version ( have you heard it ? it is here on youtube if you have not ) .. can you tell me what chords he uses please ? 2) Next is a comment I have about something I notice with the Elvis songs when I play them, they all follow a pretty close pattern .. and I find myself for example, unexpectedly going from let's say a start with "Don't Be Cruel" and all of a sudden I am crossing over and playing "Teddy Bear" or any of several Elvis songs. I feel they are kind of variations on a pattern, have you noticed this too ?
For sure! If you check out my materials teaching the Nashville number system, this'll make a lot of sense. That's why I have a video teaching the 9 chords that every guitar player should know. With a capo you end up playing the same patterns which makes learning very easy. If you can post the link I'll check that video out.
Hey There Eric - love your great lessons for years. I am liking the singer Billy Swan's ultra slow version of "Don't Be Cruel" ... I am thinking his version is more of a E, A7, B7 kind of arrangement - am I on the money ? Any tips on how to accomplish his version his way ?

I love the fact that you dont come out with this "down, up down up up" crap. It puts beginners. It certainly did with me.
Nice lesson, but it sounded so good when you played it in drop D, I went ahead and figured out how to play it that way. Just as easy, maybe even easier and sounds much better to my ears. Thanks, though, and keep up the good work!
