    Very good restoration, but I would have done two things different: I would have added a third pin and grounded it. And I would have encapsuled the two wires inside with those small ceramic rings. That would make it more safe to use, I think.

    I often go camping too, and always bring my electric hotplate just in case there happens to be a power supply in the woods.

    Nice job. Being a restorer and electrical engineer myself and if I was going to use it regularly, I would have added two things for safety. 1, High temperature insulating sleeving for the wires under the ceramic plate and 2, Electrical safety earth (ground) connection to the body of the unit.

    • @ForgottenShineRestoration
      @ForgottenShineRestoration  3 года назад +4

      Stuart Russell thank you :) there is also a isolation missing at the corners to the ceramic, its in general risky to use this hot plate. as mentioned before - I had a Arthur Spooner moment 😄

    Hi, ich glaube es handelt sich hier um eine alte Robusta- Herdplatte (die Firma heißt heute Rommelsbacher) man erkennt es am stilisierten „r“ auf der Bodenplatte. Die Firma gibt es schon über 90 Jahre, dieses Modell ist locker 60 Jahre alt wenn nicht sogar noch älter. Schöne Restauration, freut mich immer wenn solche Schätze nicht verloren gehen.

    Also for the metal parts it's just sandblasting and repaint, no restoration at all, anyway, keep improve

    "camping hotplate"? When did camp sites get electric power? Do you pack in and out a generator? Looks more like an old 1930's ~ 1940's apartment hotplate, which are/were a known fire hazzard. I hope you upgraded it.
    EDIT: Based on other comments you didn't upgrade it, so it is just as dangerous and unsafe after the restoration as it was before.
