I love what you have done. Wish I had done this with my place before it was sold. I built an apartment onto my parents house in 2020 so I could be there to take care of them better yet have my own area. It use to be Dads work shop but he had gotten to sick to use it so converted it into an apartment. After Dad passed and Mom put herself into a nursing home she sold the house. The people that bought it loved it because they put their Mother in law in the apartment to better care for her. ♥️❤️🥰♥️❤️

I would put that micro on top of your fridge to give a luttle extra counter space. I love the drop down counter top extension! Really cool idea. All that shelving in such a small space. I can't imagine you needing anything else. Great job you two!

Buddy reminds me of Thor but w kids w his hair down 😂. I think you should swap the fridge doors around to open the opposite way of what it does currently. You can install a 45° on drain pipe coming out of wall to eliminate the according drain pipe and not have it take up so much room in cabinet. You guys did a great job! It looks amazing!
FYI: To maximize space you could put both microwave & coffee pot on top of fridge & use it there leaving more counter space. You're both tall enough to use easily & no bending over.😊❤

I mean yea it's a lot of work , but it's rewarding. When I was younger and without back problems, I would do my own work. I am handy like you, Stephanie. I always said that I don't like having to pay an enormous amount of money to someone to do the work when I can do the work myself. But like you guys, I did hate doing drywall and mudding, but I did it. Fantastic job, you guys. I love it. Love you two. ❤😊
If you haven't done so yet, I would round the corners of the counter extension. I see it as landing in a spot where it will get bumped into frequently. Rounding the corner by the shelving will not just help reduce pain and cut potential but it will help avoid damage as the rounded corner is harder to chip than a sharp one. This is a BEAUTIFUL space you both have done an excellent job especially Steph!
Wow, that was so awesome. You guys make such a great team and as Steph was cutting out the sink, I was seeing a great cutting board handmade a little hole in it and you can hang it right on the wall drill a hole in it that looks like an apple for me, it was kind of spot though where Sam was so we have to make it thick if you do that or you can make it duck or chicken or whatever work you’re doing and whatever kind of craft you make your cutting board look like your craft❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤😂😂❤ I’m from California and I watch the Merle Hill all the time everybody on Morrow Hill. Utilizing the butcher-block end cut for a collapsible table/work surface was brilliant. And the shelving is awesome. Non intrusive, practical and stunning. Upper cabinets in the kitchen would have been heavy/bulky. This was definitely customized with forethought and intent. It reminds me of some efficiency apartments in old buildings in NYC - only better. It's cleaner, fresher and definitely better designed. Well done indeed!

The little basket that little handle. When you flip it back and forth it either plugs the drain or it opens the drain. I have one just like that in my very old sink that my plumber put new parts in. So I thought that was really cool. You can plug your sink so you can feel it full of water and then you flip the little wire thing over and it drains it out

The distance from the edge will depend on how big your faucets are.
I bought and installed a Krause farm sink this year. It too had grate to protect at bottom. Didn’t have nice second drainer basket to put in at drain. I like that.
I had to use one of those for my kitchen sink too. I redid under my sink but I needed to adjust how the angles all worked and ended up with one accordion piece too. And I had to fix how the dishwasher drained into that area too.

It is easy to change the direction of the fridge door. You need to do it while it is empty. I did it in about 10min.

That flex pipe looks like it will cause problems with blockage in the future. Things can get stuck in the grooves and then build up.
