- On NBA Twitter, Celtics Shaq is the go to meme when describing something as being washed. Now even though its an all time great meme and obviously Shaq wasn't close to the player he was in his prime its worth asking, was Shaq on the Boston Celtics really that bad?

Shaq was basically ring chasing at that point because he just witnessed Kobe win his 5th ring, which is more than Shaq's 4 rings.
Shaq paved the road for David west in the future of ring chasing
Shaq was the best player on 3 championship teams and Kobe only 2 that’s game
If you weren’t the best player on the team it means nothing!! If you want to celebrate robins go take it down the road
@@ImUseless88 Do you happen to realize that basketball is a collective sport, right? Being the best player on the team is kinda irrelevant, because without the rest of the team, you're not gonna win shit. Ask Allen Iverson how it feels. If only the best player on the team can celebrate, by your logic, he should be playing 1v5
@ Like I said if you aren’t the best player on the team I don’t give a damn about what ur talking about! All teams have co stars or role players that’s irrelevant but number 1 is the big dawg and that’s the bottom line. I celebrate the 1 and you celebrate the 2 nothing wrong with that
As a lifelong Lakers fan, seeing Shaq injure himself while running up and down the court in a Celtics jersey was depressing.
I’ll feel the same way when Tatum leaves us for the lakers in a few years
@@LILTJ008Do you know how bad things would have to get in the Celtics organization for Tatum to leave?
@@urbaindelva7869lmao right, the celtics just built a championship level team consistently since he was a rookie, and they’d expect He’d go a dumpster fire that is the lakers organization
@@LILTJ008 you guys can have him
@@sebastianramones2722 At least we aren't the cowboys 💀
Shaq wasn't so bad in a Celtics jersey as much as it was wrong to see him in a Celtics jersey. That's how I would put it. Cavs, whatever. Miami Heat, sure. The Lakers' fiercest rivals? That's how you know the plot has officially been lost. Several great players have played for both over their long histories, but nowhere was it more *wrong* than here.
As a Celtics fan I was like "Why are we doing this?" and little to do with the rivalry as much as it was with how washed he looked. It was hard to watch.
@gerimayawhyte154 Exactly. Odd take: Why do I think that it would have benefited every party involved for Shaq to sign for the Magic instead? He brings his career full-circle, he gets to play for a contender, and both Dwight and Shaq get to attempt to quash their beef that would last for the majority of the Diesel's post-playing career.
@@nicholastricarico2957 Yeah, that could have been nice but Shaq has too much pride for that. For as much as Shaq likes to dish out criticism he seems pretty ticky tack about how much he takes and from who as in evidence with his beef with Bill Walton.
@@gerimayawhyte154 Yeah, I was admittedly setting aside his Metropolis-sized ego for the sake of this argument. 😅
@nicholastricarico2957 😂
Shaq was ALWAYS productive…when he played. Later on in the ring chasing part of his career he was just always injured
Yup my favorite center of all time for sure. Underrated footwork too, as youngins think he only dunked on mofos back in the day
bingo. He was playing well for the celtics but he simply broke down at the end.
Lmao Celtics shaq was ass 😂 stop it
He’s fault he was so injury prone.. lazy
Washed Shaq meme is entering its Washed Shaq era 😭
9:21 love that double

My favorite NBA channel. Shoutouts from the Philippines.
Shoutout to the Philippines from the US
The move Shaq did after the alley oop is called “high stepping” and it used to be popular amongst football players in the early 2000s, Deion Sanders made it popular by doing it while defenders were still trying to tackle him lol, but his (Shaq) was a unique version of it, I can’t remember who it was, but their was an elite pass rusher that used to do it slowly after sacks similar to how Shaq did . It just looks weird because Shaq was so big and out of shape when he did it 😂 usually there’s more emphasis on bringing your knees up and taking higher steps as you walk off. But you can tell that’s what he was going for by the way he was trying to swing his arms in sync with his steps.
i appreciate how when you guys show clips of Shaq's games, you include the dates in the corner vhs style. it's a nice touch i've never seen before
Shaq actually wasn’t bad in Boston lol. He was a decent center even at 40. It was just nasty to see him in a green jersey after being a Laker god.
9 ppg 5 rebounds is TRASH stop it
@@Rickle_Pick23 9 ppg on 66% from the field isnt trash i think ur jus slow
@@dotio3 that’s basically 4-6 every game with a ft 😂 😂
Cody Zeller numbers 🔥 🔥
@@Rickle_Pick23that’s average numbers for a role player bro. It’s only bad because shaq was shaq.

So, back when I was in high school, I got to see Shaq in Boston against the Nets and I still have the video posted on my RUclips channel where he hit two clutch free throws in the 4th quarter, which blew my mind in the moment because you know... Shaq shoots with Steph Curry's precision from the free throw line... 🤣 BUT it was a memory for me and on top of that, he was surprisingly the leading scorer from that game with 25 points and even added 11 rebounds for a double-double like y'all mentioned in the video! And yeah... He scored more than KG, Pierce and Ray Ray that night... Now he was definitely washed at this point in his career BUT I got to see him play really well in person one last time before he officially retired. So in my mind, his Celtics' tenure wasn't a waste just cause I got an amazing memory from it! 😂😄
ALSO! I always thought Shaq chose number 36 because his birthday is 3/6 but apparently he chose 36 for some other reason that I don’t recall.
BTW!
Link to the video if y'all wanna watch back when I used to record videos with potatoes instead of our amazing 4K camera smartphones we have today LOL.

As a Celtics fan, I still don't understand what Ainge was thinking when he traded Perk. Like, Perk wasn't a star, but he was important to the team. Trading him was one of the most nonsensical moves that the Celtics made.
Celtics' front office learned from this experience and traded away KG, Paul Pierce, and Rondo before they started to declind for 1st round picks that later then became jason tatum and jaylen brown
So hey, at least you guys have a good front office
Celtics had the 1 seed before that trade and had the best defensive rating in the league. That trade closed a championship window
Yeah they needed wing depth and they didn't want to extend Perkins but obviously it blew up in their face in a major way
It wasn't so much that Shaq was terrible (Putting up decent role player numbers at 38 is a win), just that it was kinda embarrassing that the Cavs and Celtics would try to hype the signing as though he was still MVP Shaq.
Shaq as a Celtic was one of my dreams come true. I don’t care what point in his career. In fact him closing out as a Celtic is an honor. Also I am going on record where if did not get hurt we would have won that 2010 title. He was good enough to handle that laker center who faded off into sunset. Celtic Shaq. I look back at it fondly.
You guys need to make this a series. If you need a suggestion, try T-Mac on the Knicks or Ewing on the Sonics.
Shaq should’ve humbled himself and went back to Miami during the big 3 days. The 5 position was a major issue.
That alleyoop is the only highlight from Celtics Shaq
Great throwback video! You guys only missed the 'Who the hell is Danny Ferry?" bit.
LeShaq on Cavs was tuff asl
Found you guys recently and you guys made me wanna tune in into the NBA again, started watching it more than ever, love your content!!!
Can you guys talk about some NBA journeyman like I didn’t know that Isaih Hertensein was on so many teams
4+ rebounds
if you watched the Celtics with Shaq that year, he was actually really good in his role and a massive upgrade over Kendrick Perkins (which says a lot since Perk was 12 years younger) but he sustained an achilles injury that ended any effective, winning basketball he had left
I love superstars that are past their prime and joining a team that straight up makes you wince at how wrong they look wearing that jersey.
Hornets Tony Parker
Warriors/Spurs CP3
Cavs Dwade
Cavs Drose
And Melo literally every team after his time with the Knicks
The way this guy talks to himself like it's a conversation between two people frightens me for some reason...
pray this channel never goes into a celtics shaq phase
0:54 David Luiz is a crazy pull
Thankyou for making this guys! Great work
That he was just 1 year removed from making an All-NBA team is definitely the most uncanny bit about celtics shaq
He actually played well for them and when he was on the court + fully healthy they were the team to beat in the east. The problem was that ainge traded away perkins and therefore the team was gonna be relying heavily on shaq for the remainder of that year which simply wasn't practical given his age. Once he suffered the Achilles injury it was over for both him and that particular celtics team for that season.
At this point in his career he was more occupying space and playing some meaningful minutes but his dominant days were far behind him. But you still had to deal with him.
D-Did you just Shrektus our Shaqtus by making him green man?
Chuck would definitely agree with the photo. 🤣
As a Celtics fan, I never expected a video about this 😂
Ive never been this early before. Feels like being at school when there are only 6 kids around in the morning
Dominique Wilkins on the Celtics is the best washed meme
He kept playing. His final year was the lockout year. I cant say you're wrong. Meme is meme. But why not San Antonio or the aforementioned Magic?
" if that shaq was superman then that one was clark kent" - synthetic sports
shaq was what the 2010-11 miami heat were missing in their first year together, he couldve been the glue and physical enforcer they truly needed to swing momentum and going to the celtics potentially cost the heat the championship that year....
Not going to lie, I thought today's video was going to be "NBA players we're most thankful for." I didn't expect this.
What’s crazy is how they talk about how shaq wasn’t all bad considering his age, but lebron is the same still balling tf out
1:19 someone needs to make a Celtics Shaq edit with All of the Lights🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Jokic best center all time
Great vid guys love your content❤
its kinda wild to think he ended up playing 19 seasons in the end. i wonder how long he could have been an all-star caliber player if he gave a shit about conditioning
He definitely wasn't good 😅 I vividly remember thinking that Shaq and J Oneal coming off the bench behind the Big 3 was a guaranteed championship
Wow I didnt remember Suns won that many games when Shaq was there. Such a forgotten tidbit
That was a fun Celtics team with Shaq, Nate Robinson and Jermaine O’Neill
Main reason he wore #36 is because that’s how many points he in like a month
Celtics Shaq has definitely been overblown. Not many NBA players can say they started every game they played, in their final season.
It would’ve been cool to see Kobe and Shaq one last time if Shaq returned to the Lakers in 2010
5:46 Shaq is my favorite player so hearing these are his good numbers hurts my heart
That’s the video guys. That’s the video guys.
Shaq was good??? Till he got hurt…?
Hard disagree with shaq being the best tv show hiring. Shaq has always been extremely petty and doesn't know when not to cross lines. He acts like a child a lot and it's incredibly obnoxious.
I'm a Celtics fan and I was watching my championship team disintegrate in front of my very eyes. Watching Shaq who was more like Shanty Shaq at that point was kinda hard to watch. I hated it ever time he hit the court.
I'm just impressed Shaq lasted that long not gonna lie
shaq was the right fit to play vs duncan
Well, he was definitely so far past his prime at this point. He was still decent though and there were a few individual games where he absolutely dominated. It was still a good signing on the Celtics part because it was a low money deal and the Celtics starting center, Kendrick Perkins was out for the first half of the season. The issue was that the Celtics then traded away Perkins for Jeff Green and were then relying on Shaq to be their starting center through the playoffs. Shaq got injured and then the Celtics got beat by the Heat in the playoffs.
Love that Nets KG meme. 😭😭😭
Yes, Shaq himself admitted he hates the way his career ended.
A+ video simply for the wholesome Kwame Brown moment
now we need a nets paul pierce and kg video
Love y’all please make a video on the Magic this season
To me the saddest is Hakeem on the Raptors.
“Google me Chuck!”
Bad? No. A true WTF moment? Yes. It's like being a 90s Bull then going to the Knicks or Pacers, some things you just don't do
Greatest notification of all time
Perk still hasn’t forgiven the Celtics for trading him.
Phoenix do have something about their training staff. Shaq obviously, but also old post injury kd are playing Thibodeau minutes and being just fine.
When 15 pts 8 boards and a block a night, is you at your worst?
That says a lot
its crazy around 2008-2012 shaq was the most clowned nba player, especially his brand oh my😂
You mentions KG nets at the end. Can we get that next?
Alright I was not expecting this vid lol
Fuck it, I’d buy a Shaq Celtics jersey.
i think the KG Nets-Meme isn‘t even his final Form! KG came back the Wolves for one year!
Shaq embarrassed himself in the last couple years it was sad, the worst was I’ve seen him do that dance with the Phoenix Suns at the all star game
He wasn’t no Miami Shaq but he was good on the suns
@@nvm9040No he wasn't. Shaq was overweight and terrible on the Suns. Sun were dumb for letting Shawn Marion go for Shaq.
@hitek9too255 shaq was "washed up" yet averaged 17p 9r which was the same as Pau Gasol who was "top 5 big man in the league".... Shawn Marion was trash in the playoffs dude was overrated
If the Celtics would’ve gotten him around when they won the championship and he was part of that championship team that beat Kobe. I also think they would defeated the Lakers and Kobe in 2010 well here’s the thing the Celtics probably would have given up a lot of future draft picks or something to get shack but if we could’ve gotten him, we probably would’ve been set to win one or two championships. The Celtics and I think Shaquille would have retired in 2011.
Short answer: Yes. He was unmotivated, easy ring chasing & plagued by injuries🤣
Celtics Shaq was good in 8-10 minute clips that season.
I dont think he didnt played that many min when he was at Boston
I gotta say I agree with most of the video but Shaq was terrible on Inside the NBA for years before he finally settled in. He was not the missing piece at all, the show was already of the best shows in sports TV history with just Ernie, Kenny, and Chuck. The show went from great to fine with Shaq then back to great again, but it took a few years
celtics shaq nickname shoulda been the hulk
gotta talk about Magic in Sweden next

He was on a green colored themed team and no one came up with Shrek as a nickname?
There was another player on the team who was already jokingly called Shrek. Glen Davis and Nate Robinson were jokingly called Shrek and Donkey.
shaq going to the celtics was an abomination
He was actually decent from what i remember til the injuries crippled him for good
Damn so if the Celtics didn’t bet on shaq, Perkins would’ve stayed a Celtic and not been traded to okc. Without Perkins contract on their payroll they would’ve been able to sign James harden to the max he wanted. Shaq killed a dynasty by signing a minimum
Shaq in Suns downfall started. I've been a fan of suns and when they got him. Things got worst. I hate that shaq tbh
That’s the end of the video. That’s the end of the video.
Traysold bought me here😂😂😂
Was shaq at his time from the celtics bad ?
No debate .
Yes .
He was overweight and almost amassed 400 Pounds .
Injury Prone and his legs are so bent up like he was wobbling from the court trying his best to stay on the floor alive .
Shaq would've made more productive years if he was healthy , he could've taken kobe's advice .
Now do Garnett on the nets
Your editing on the last cpl videos at least has had one or two repeated lines. In this one you said “that’s the video guys” twice in a row
I guess you could say that Shaq's time on the Celtics wasn't "outstanding."
messi is way more washed than ronaldo, same for lbj compared to mj
4:32 I mean when you have 18 rings there´s a lot of players to give credits
I like to use Celtics shaq as a benchmark for how fat chuck is getting lmao
Celtics shaq was bad man. Even cleveland shaw was bad. He was decent in phoenix’s but even there it was downhill
