I just ordered these on clearance. I plan to use indoors for the winter season about 1 day a week. I was using the Prince T22 and they caused so much pinching. I am happy for the soft uppers. I do not move that aggressivly, so I am hoping these will be ok. Thank you for the great review.
Hi! I am trying out for varsity tennis at my highschool, I have about 3 summers of experience. Would you reccomend this shoe? The price tag is really good, and i love this colorway.
Good luck on with try outs- i remember those like it was yesterday- these wouldn't be my first choice for the price, id personally want the nike vapor lites or the adidas court jam bounce for similar money
I've been dealing with ankle pain when I wear my ubersonic 4s for a long period of time, I like a fast and mobile shoe. What suggestions would you have. I play an aggressive game and before wearing the ubersonic 4s I wore nike vapor x and pros but I found my foot was over-pronating. What shoe would you recommend, I've got narrow feet.
Yeah the Ubersonic just doesn’t absorb shock well- I’m not sure because I’ve never examined you but my favorite shoe for narrow feet is the yonex eclipsion 3
Hey Dr. Zack, great vid. (Esp. The end). I’m considering these for pickleball. Currently in the ubersonic 4’s, wondering if I can get away with the more minimal construction. Will it be a night and day downgrade? Thx for your advice!
Thank you for the review! I literally just ordered some of these yesterday & now you got me rethinking my purchase. Maybe I will just keep them in the box (since I also ordered the Limited Edition ones) and order the Ubersonics for match play.
@@FootDoctorZach ok, thank you for always answering!! Also, were you planning on releasing a video about tsitsipas and FAA switching from the barricade to the SCB?
I sprained my ankle the second day I played in these shoes. First time in my life, never had ankle issues. I found them pretty good to wear and I thought the ankle was well proctected. As I don't want to repeat the mistakes, do you think it most likely had to do with the shoes and should go with something else?
@@FootDoctorZach thanks Zach! Which tennis shoe have you found to have the widest toe box? I wear Altras mainly and am used to a zero drop shoe with a wide toe box.
A very accurate review. I felt the same way on lateral movements. My feet slide forward which causes pain on my big toe. I totally regret purchasing this shoe. Ill check out reviews on my next purchase from this channel. Thank you so much for the information.
Great video! The colorway you reviewed looks great but good to know the shoe has shortcomings too. Could you do a review on the Asics Gel Challenger 13? I'm wondering if it might be a good shoe for folks who want the higher-end Asics but also want to save a few bucks. Thanks!
Doc, how about just on clay defiant vs uber? many of shortcomings you mention seem less important on clay only, which is really why I'm considering either of these.
@@FootDoctorZach “sliding like on an ice rink”, thanks, didn’t hear you say “clay” at the beginning of that sentence (you talk so fast - which is a good thing for all the shoes you review). Saved me $70+, thanks. Keep up the good, fast work.
I bought a pair before seeing this review. Silly me for not checking your channel first. Luckily, I bought 'em from Tennis Point so exchanging them (unworn) for a pair of K-Swiss Ultra Shot Teams was easy-peasy. BTW, without you I'd a' never known about the existence of, let alone the importance of a shank in real tennis shoes.
I ordered these shoes last week and your review was posted when I opened them. Damn it if you'd posted sooner I wouldn't have bought them. Tested them on synthetix clay today and they worked quite well, no slippage. The upper didn't bother me so far. Thanks to the outsole I could slide when I wanted. But you're spot on with the lack of a shank, they feel weird when walking and I don't feel any bounciness...
Yeah zero bounce for me after a little bit on them- I was pretty disappointed to be honest since the vapor lites, their main competitor, were so good relatively
@@FootDoctorZach really ? i can't find it. by the way, the trae young 1 is out. it looks abit like a tennis shoes i think. at least, it seems way better to fit tennis game than freak3.
Again got to reapeat uberzonic 4 worst shoe ever with a knawing plate pushing down on the foot only breaking in after two month, very slow and clunky and tearing at the sides after total three month. Thrown out and replaced by the superior babolat march 3
Trash shoe for competitive players. All problems described here I encountered personally. Hurt my toes and had sore knees playing in them. Good for just walking around though..
That ending was hilarious. Thanks for the morning laugh. I'm officially wide awake now.
Haha thank you - I’m constantly stopping our playing to do clips and stuff - the dude has the patience of a saint
Damn almost bought this shoe glad I saw this vid before hitting buy saved me 80$
5:17 oh man! I thought it was b/c i got a larger size.
Great video doc! I want to order the ssff2 , do you think the clay version is more durable and better for sliding on a hard court?🤔
No, clay soles wont slide on a hard court easily- alot of people end up injuring their knee that way

The big 5 similar Adidas tennis shoe upper part has a hold but the bottom rubber was still good from my playing experience.

Let me know how it goes with them if you end up trying them
Hey zack, about the toe jamming, I always have purple big toes due to it, and i was wondering if you knew how to help with that issue. Thank you!
That could be due to several things - best to have it checked by a local doc to get to the bottom
@@FootDoctorZach ok, thank you for always answering!! Also, were you planning on releasing a video about tsitsipas and FAA switching from the barricade to the SCB?
Yep
Would you recommend ubersonic 4 or Defiant speed for hard court?
I definitely hurt my 5th metatarsal wearing these. I wish I would have known about your channel before.
I play tennis. How do I know if the pain in my one heel after a match is due to a bruised heel, or heel spurs?🤔😒
You would have to see a local doctor and get examined
Isn't the defiant bounce supposed to be a comfort shoe? I think the court control (previously the adizero club) were the takedowns of the ubersonic.
I think it’s just supposed to be a budget option take down if the U4

I wouldn’t use them

So whats the most cushioned lightweight tennis shoes nowadays
Probably the solution speed ff2
Are these non marking shoes? Can I use them on synthetic courts for badminton?
Yup nonmarking -probably not the best for badminton but not the worst either
Great post match shoe 😃. Great video. Keep up the great work
Thanks! Glad you liked it

Id personally rather have the vapor lite
