Since you are in Paris... Noticed that many fencers, especially epeeists, were wearing tennis shoes. Sabre silver medalist Ferjani was wearing Wilson (Rush Pro 4.5?). Also saw several fencers with Gel Res 9's and Mizuno Wave Exceed Tours on the piste. It's not surprising b/c good amount of overlap in the design remit for both sports: Good lateral and torsional stability, balanced cushion, toe guard durability for lunges and slides, solid traction. Would be interesting to see you do a shoe breakdown for fencing shoes (Adidas D'Artagnan V, Nike Ballestra 2 & Air Zoom Fencer, Kempa, Anta) and see how they compare to tennis or other court shoes.
Zach ya gotta do the new Wave Enforce Court that Mizuno just released that is slightly more affordable and apparently supposed to hit the pickleball market more so as well!
I have 3 of these top 5 plus the eclipsikon 4’s. The Lacoste Ultras are hands down my favorite. I do like the yonex 4’s for some of the same qualities as the Lacoste Ultra. The Mizuno is the shoe I wear when my feet are feeling tired but if I need something that feels faster (not saying they are or are not) I go Lacoste.
Just happened to find your channel looking for Pickleball shoes! Love the Slippery Rock gear. I'm a Rock Alum. looking forward to seeing more vids on court shoes for flat feet and good cushioning.
Grab the Lacoste shoes while you can. According to Tennis Warehouse: “According to our records, the Lacoste AG-LT23 Ultra Tennis shoe is selling out and is not expected to be restocked. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause. We do expect to be getting the Lacoste AG-LT25 in the future, probably next year.”
Gotta agree with you on #1, the Lacoste are THAT good. Legit made me smile the first time I wore them. That is how good they are. Bought two pairs of hardcourt and one pair of clay. Really happy with the Mizuno as well, the anti heel slippage tech must be the best in the business. Bit surprised with the #2 pick, maybe the PC Eclipsion 5 is that much better than the 4. I bought the Eclipsion 4 Clay version, and I did not like them at all. Maybe it's just my foot that does not suit Yonex shoes, while they suit Asics/Mizuno/Lacoste. To me they did not feel anything special, very regular sneaker vibe compared to the performance shoe that the Lacoste AG-LT23/Asics Gel Res/Mizuno WET is.
Interested to see your review on the new Yonex PC Ad Accel Men's Shoe. On the surface it looks like Yonex's attempt to make a Lacoste AG-LT 23. Have you tried them?
So what makes these great "summer shoes"? You didn't give the specific criteria or reason why they are. It's just like any other top list out there/random list. Is "comfort" and "forgiveness" what makes a shoe great for summer?
I believe the title is less about these shoes being good for summer as a season, but more that these are Zach's current top shoes at this halfway point of the year.
Ahh yes, have good experiences with every shoe on this list besides the Eclipsion due to width. I am sure I would have turned into a fossil before Yonex comes out with a wide version of the Eclipsion. Either that or start making them in 12.5US. **sigh**
I have the 21 ultras, hc and clay. wore them only once. the fit is weird. pity how I couldn't feel it before I play in them, may be I was blinded due to marque and sale price. anyway, watched a few videos saying all the issues are ironed out with the new one. NOPE! if it was 3/10 shoe, now 5/10 at max!

Where does the new Mizuno Wave Enforce Court AC figure in to all this? When might we see a review?
Zach how does the ultrashot 3 compare to the supreme 2 as far as cushion comfort?

What they said👆
I see. Now that makes more sense. Thank you for the clarification.

Surprised that New Balance didn't make the cut 😭
