    As an academic physician and someone who has interviewed prospective medical students, there is no mystery why she was admitted to medical school. Organic chemistry is the major academic obstacle. A great academic record and test results do not guarantee admission. This young woman has an appealing personality, superior communication skills, and candid about her life experience. I would expect her to be an effective and caring physician.

      Seth Acup volunteering won’t set you apart from the rest....What’s so hard to understand. Everyone volunteers, or has good grads, or went for a masters degree like myself. Get published if you want to stick out from the applicant pool.

    • @Silentstorm174
      @Silentstorm174 5 лет назад +25

      @@anthonyromano6921 And I'm not disputing any of that, but volunteering is still a critical part of the process. If you were somehow lucky enough to get an interview without any experience, one would have an awfully difficult time explaining why you weren't able to take a second out of your day, yet want to help people in the future. Setting yourself apart by doing something unique is great advice, but for someone just starting out, I just wouldn't want that to be interpreted as "volunteering is pointless." That's all. I agree with your point.

    Thanks for sharing your story, Rachel! Going to community college was such smart financial move. I thought I was interested in PT, too...but during my shadowing experience, I was bored to tears! I quickly realized I would rather do surgery on a wonky shoulder rather than rehab/exercise:) And so began my path towards medicine!

    Dang your resume is amazing... I'll never get into medical school lol the only extracurricular I can have is my son. I have him 100%of the time, on my own, without much outside help, besides the time he goes to daycare while I'm in class during the week 😓😅

    I have been watching your videos for quite some time now (not creepy or anything), and you have really quelled a lot of qualms I have had prior to watching your videos. I was especially confused about if the medical profession was right for me because I am particularly SKILLED at everything I set my mind to, including my science courses, with half my siblings in the medical field. Nevertheless, as a rising junior in college with ~5 minimal volunteer experience (non-clinical or health related), with a part-time ~20 hours a week job and on 2 E-board on two clubs, I was worried that I didn't have enough clinical experience. However, hearing that you completed 50 (+) shadowing hours really cleared up a lot of heavy worries on my chest. I know that I am writing a whole essay here, but I just wanted to say thank you for making your videos and sharing your experiences. you’re really changing lives out here!!!!

    Truly inspiring, I am freshman at my local community college. I'm in stuck between going to med school or nursing school. I've always wanted wanted to go into medical field but after hearing what people say about med school just discourage me. Right now my GPA aint that great and I feel like it will stay like that, I feel like I'm not smart at all. I've been watching videos on youtube and it just scares me more. I was thinking of just doing nursing right now and if I really like what I'm doing I will just go into med school but at the same time I think I will be losing time and money. I am losing my mind at the moment, I am stressed because I can't seem to find the right major for myself. I'm so close at giving up. I need advices on what to do.
