Great video thanks, so many ls swap how-tos will say “now wire up your swap”. This made it a lot less intimidating especially thinking of it as two separate vehicles.
A nice option is a four or five terminal bus bar that you could mount to the firewall, and then connect all those power wires there and a single wire down to the starter, rather than so many terminals connected to the starter lug.
Awesome video. I got one huge tip. Flat ground straps love to corrode and make huge headaches. Easy quick fix is to put shrink wrap over them to block the environment that loves to corrode them. I seen that problem way to many times to count. Some chevys have a factory strap that is on the driver side rear of block and connects to bottom firewall area. 9x out of 10 when they have a electric problem you go under and look you will see it is nice and green and crumbling apart. That is do to not being covered.
Look at me I am the bendy man now😂 just came to see how to wire up my starter after hooking up my wiring harness yesterday and had to plug in the crank sensor with the starter already on it
I just bridged ignition in the on position and cranking 12v together from back of the keyed ignition for ecu power up. Saves having a switch that you have to find every time.
Yep, 55 has a post on the ign switch for cranking position for thos that do mot know. Its also how to wire a msd as well. Luke you said just junction the purple and green wires from.switch and its good to go.
I see your still running the factory chassis fuse box you have any issues now your running a modern electronic fuel injection engine I have a 56 bel air im about to swap
That issue with wiring up the ECU power is the biggest reason we see for no starts on LS swaps. I threw up a video about how to solve this issue if anyone wants to see the fix.
EXCELLENT, well-detailed video, but I have a little constructive criticism: All those colored plastic crimp connectors are unsightly. A much better option asthetically is to use "naked" butt connectors and ring terminals with heat shrink tubing. I know it's more labor intensive, but makes your engine and engine compartment look MUCH better (more professional)... With so much effort to do your wiring "right," a little extra work to use naked connectors with heatshrink would be WELL worth it.. :-)
For ECM hot when cranking, hot when starting.. Can't you just use ignition power from ign switch/ Maybe add a relay if you are concerned about power draw?
If your ign switch works that way. This one doesn't work that way. It turns all power off to the car except the starter. Then when released it cuts power to the starter and powers the rest of the car. Thanks for watching Ryan!
I don't want to say yes and there be some small connector that is different and waste your time. My guess is yes but I have never done it and not a 100 percent that you could. Thanks for watching!
Just some feedback on that ground from the engine mount to the frame, that's not a very good ground--most of those connections from that mount to the frame have paint, but otherwise good job! Good explanations!
I have a ls swap 5.3. I’m ecu isn’t getting constant 12v power. It ranges from 10/9/11. Any ideas of why it would lose power? Can’t find any bad grounds or bad wires. Pulling my hair out.
Talk about thoroughly explaining what you need to know & not talking about why your video took 3 months since the last one, since your puppy rex died … street sweeper. Thank you, Liked & Subscribed.
There is so many people that don’t understand it, including me. I’d rather him explain it to me than assume I know what’s going on. It’s a big yikes little bro that you don’t get that. Praying for you my man.
You act like only people who know motors watch this video. Step off and go know your motors somewhere else. I gotta start somewhere and this dude is a great help for me.
An hour long?! Let’s go!!!
Best explanation of ls wiring I've seen, hands down. Much appreciated
Wow, thanks!
Great video thanks, so many ls swap how-tos will say “now wire up your swap”. This made it a lot less intimidating especially thinking of it as two separate vehicles.
Right! That's why I wanted to show the fine details. I'm so glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
Best vide I’ve seen yet
Thanks!

Very good point!
You did a good job explaining the whole wiring. Thanks

Good video. Thanks for posting.
Have saved, bookmarked and watched this as I am planning a 5.3 swap for my baby(see my ava). Thanks for the video, it will certainly come in handy
Very educational! So glad you did this.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Great video, you made look easy. Thanks

Great video ,I feel more comfortable attempting my 1st ls swap , my question is do I still need to use or have original fuse box.
Nice! You can use that or you can fuse the circuits individually like I did. There isn't that many so it's not so bad. Thanks for watching!
Love this video that's a lot
Thank you for the informative video!
Glad it was helpful!
I love the stealing vin part 😂
Hey don't do that! *wags finger* lol Thanks for watching!

How much do you think the 0-60 gon be with just the stock ls3? On 2nd gen camaro

It really is. Thanks for watching!

Cut off wheel works great for cutting heavy cables
Yes it does!

Great tip! I use connectors with heat shrink built right in now. They look very nice. Thanks so much for watching Scott!
I'm trying a project build with this info, gen 5 mustang and 2018 bmw diesel engine rwd car, making a fuel efficient diesel lol
what episode # shows how to wire SAFETY NEUTRAL SWITCH FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 4L60E?
I think that was in 10. Thanks for watching!
Other is a 58 tooth reluctor wheel. 24 or 58
You should do turbo mounting scenarios on ls swap
All in due time! Thanks for watching!

Where did you get that transmission cross member?

Did you have any issues with the O2 sensors with this harness?
No not at all, everything fit together and works great. Thanks for watching!
You guys know, if I can I put a 2011 5.3 Silverado harness in a 2008 tahoe 5.3 block and transmission with a 4L60E?
I don't want to say yes and there be some small connector that is different and waste your time. My guess is yes but I have never done it and not a 100 percent that you could. Thanks for watching!
Wow!
I googled it!
How to find description!!!
Man?
Click "see more" under the video. Thanks for watching!
I am STRUGGLING with wiring up my 82 GMC. It used to be a diesel now it has a 6.0 LS. I have no hot power wire when the key is in “Accessory” position
So just do exactly what I did and have a switch for the ECM. Thanks for watching!
@2carpros how do you know which pink wire it is in the bunch? Is it specifically labeled?
wanna sonvert 2008 chevrolet captiva z24 from dbw to dbc what do i need
How do i find the Link in the Description?
Click "more" on the textbox under the video. Thanks for watching!

Technically correct. But I did a continuity test and it read fine. Thanks for watching Jared!
@@2carpros awesome! That's all that matters!

Hmmmm that's super strange. I would try a different battery. Seems like a cell inside the battery is not happy. Thanks for watching!
Id have to invent a splice/termination else where with one red wire to the starter
good👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Can anyone tell me about how much will this ket cost me?
I think that harness was 580. Link in the description! Thanks for watching!
Ok so about 1000 for everything? And thanks for the video it made it simple like a kid could do job great video the best I have seen

You could've connected it to the radio power source

Left /right,

I've already taken it off and on a few times now. Not bad at all. Thanks for watching!
I guess your next reply ought to be "thanks for pressing don't recommend channel"... poser.
Do not panic! It’s a video over an hour long about wiring. Why panic?
True! Nothing to worry about. Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros oh no! I can’t handle the passive aggressiveness.
@@keeper0523 I'm not at all.
As if wires aren't cool and need to be hidden. Are you embarrassed to have something better than a carb?
Because that's the way I wanted it. It's just a personal preference. Thanks for watching!
hard to watch a millennial talk mods......
How old do you think I am?
This guy acts like someone that walks through the mall is doing this. We know motors dude. No need to sugar coat it

Hmmm if only you can scrub through the timeline to find the info you want. Alas such tech is beyond our reach! Thanks for watching!
