England's Lockdown Easing - Third Time Lucky ?

- Yes it's Monday the 12th of April 2021 and this means that for England, we can now make a further major step towards some form of normality.
Non-essential shops can reopen, including pubs and charity shops and more importantly for me, it's now possible (for the third time), to travel along England's canal network by narrowboat.
In this video, I take Aslan on a short trip to the moorings at the Tithe Barn in Garstang, Lancashire.
Then I walk into Garstang and see for myself how the town compares now, to how it looked back in the first lockdown of March 2020.
On the way I visit a couple of charity shops and later show you the fruits of my shopping expedition.
Finally, I take the plunge and actually enjoy a pint of Guinness outside an 'actual' pub, the Tithe Barn.

I agree! I was thinking the same thing. Asian has a distinctive sound to her. When I first started watching, when my husband came through the room he would ask are you watching the narrow boat again. He began to watch it also. 😉

Good to see you out and about on the canals again, Kevin . Bars here in Maryland are open about 50%. I’m a senior citizen, but have shopped in second hand shops for 45 years and l still enjoy the bargains on clothes as you do. And no one is the wiser . I always get complements on my wardrobe! I envy you cruising the canals in Great Britain. What a lovely life. Keep sending us your vlogs. 😊💕
I've been following your trials and tribulations in UK ever since you started with Aslan, Kevin, vicariously watching from Covid-free New Zealand. I have many fond memories from my time in UK, walking alongside canals and sitting outside (in summer) at a canal side pub. You have brought back those memories for me in glorious reality and I guess there are many others all over the world living this life with you. One of the very best YT channels for satisfying watching and reminiscing. I tip my hat to you.

Great to see you sinking that first pint, mate. Mine will happen at the weekend. It's just Sod's Law that this release from lockdown has coincided with one of the coldest Aprils on record in the UK. I love seeing your everyday life- your trip/purchases from the charity shop followed by going to the pub for a beer was awesome! Perhaps you can find an extreme weather 100% down coat at the charity shop and also get some fleece lined leather gloves and a knitted wool cap so you can enjoy life? Here in Michigan-we just had our Opening Day for baseball-only 8k were allowed into the stadium for the game-but it was sold-out and it snowed!! Glad to hear you’re getting out & about! It can only get warmer! Cheers!

Lovely to see you out on the cut..... you looked as cold as my hubby felt when he slipped and fell in the canal last week when we got the key to our boat and went on our first cruise on her!! The engine room temp helped dry out his clothes!! X

Great to see you out and about Kevin! Sorry for the chill, but I'm guessing you're glad you did it after all. I completely relate to your comment about finally being able to get out and travel but can't due to lockdowns. I retired in October.... I have to watch myself not to get to pissy about it. The day will come hopefully when I can get to Ireland and Scotland for a nice long visit.
Anyway, enjoy the freedom while you can, never know what comes eh!?

HI Kevin,like you i went to the pub monday night,i went to the swan at fradley junction. i only managed one pint,it was so cold....you had to let them know you were there then they came out for your order....lovely pint and as you say much better at the pub.

Glad your back on the water. Here in the USA, specifically South Carolina, things are moving to normalcy, and we are a bit warmer here so eating outside isn’t too bad.
Hi Kevin, great channel that I will enjoy watching. Subscribed today though based on what you have said here in this video. I share the same exact thoughts as you on politics, future travel, life under this so called "new normal". Im in my mid 40's, single and looking to move onto the canals as a continuous cruiser. I worked on cruise ships for ten years and despite the frustrations knowing I will not leave the country again or conform to health passports, I'd be more than happy to explore the country I was born in. Hospitality establishments are being forced to be inhospitable . They were a relaxing and welcoming environment, and until that returns , many people will stay away I suspect.

It amazes me, your first visit to a pub and your faced with the rude general public in all its self righteousness and asked to sit elsewhere. Hope your next venture out is a peaceful, pleasant experience.
Damn, Kevin! I was really scared at the end, there. The look on your face was making me wonder if you'd run into some hooligans again. Glad it was just the cold that had you looking like that. You need to come see us here in Arizona. We hit 99F about 3 weeks ago, though the past week as been just wonderful with highs in the mid-80sF, some high cloud cover and breezes. You talk about seeing the wonders of the world, the Grand Canyon's only about 4 hours' drive from Phoenix.
I began watching CHG due to the worldwide situation. So enjoyable yet sad when we ran out of episodes on Amazon. Glad you have yr motorcycle and now canals to chg yr view!
