Just a reminder: XXI Century Blood was released seven years ago, in 2017, but the songs were written two years before that. DPA often said this in their interviews. 🤟😎🤟
@@JohnnyFoxtrotshow They started working on XXICB after they returned from Berklee in August 2015. They started out with some of the unfinished songs left over from their "Escape the Mind" iTunes EP that was published April 2015. Ale's bass teacher Pablo González Sarre suggested they start writing their own music so they started holding classes in 2013-14 and their "homework" is what ended up on the EP and the leftovers formed the starting point for the XXICB album.
“When I’m Alone” at the Pepsi Center is both very emotional and ultimately very positive, but translated subtitles are a must if you don’t speak Spanish to understand Dany’s remarks to the audience. 🧸
You spotted it ; there, is the essence of The Warning. For me it's kind of their ground zero, musically, visually, creatively. Ted-X 17 being the fallout, and then, the infection reached the whole world. There's no cure, we are doomed under The Warning.
🧸This is off their first full-length album. Interesting to hear The Warning chops with "girl" voices, eh? This was released in 2017, so they were probably 16, 14, and 11 or so when they composed, arranged, and recorded this. If you want to go further back, pick something off their first EP, Escape The Mind, from 2015 and experience them with "little girl" voices. They hadn't really settled into their "signature" sound yet at that point. It was their first attempt at original music. Most of those tunes are very different than their later stuff, but extremely impressive especially since they were 14, 12, and 9. They don't like to be called "prodigies" so I won't. 🤘😎⚡
@@JohnnyFoxtrotshow "Eternal Love" EP version. They performed this at one of the TedX presentations, but for the purpose I stated (vocals), the studio version would be better.
These girls have such a knack for catchy music. They makes songs that you hear for the first time and feel like you've heard them before, like long lost memories.
Not "the first video", but the first that was genuinely crafted by a professional video production company - and, of course, it's the first track off their "second" album ("first", if you don't count _Escape the Mind_ ). Sponsored and carefully created, it captures the essence of the song perfectly, probably better than the ladies ever expected it to. An "award-winning" vid in every sense of the term..
The only previous video that could have been professionally done (as opposed to their basement videos and the Liceo concert footage) was their Foo Fighters cover of The Pretender shot on a hillside. They could have pulled that one off on their own. Then there's what could be considered an OMV for When I'm Alone. But then nothing until Choke in 2021. The rest are all concert footage videos, some professionally done.
This is far and away my favorite of their original music videos. Six Feet Deep comes close for me, but this one still reigns. The song itself absolutely *RIPS* :)
Dude I so wish you were a DJ back in the late 60s and early 70s when radio stations actually took requests. You have the voice and the attitude and The Warning would be the most popular band on earth. 🤘🤘🤘❤❤❤
One of the most meaningful videos ever made...serious social commentary with a rocking song behind it...Girls are simply brilliant!!! Thanks Johnny....great reaction.
I've noticed an "Oh yeah" effect with The Warning, where you see or hear a song from them that you haven't heard in a while, and go, "Oh yeah, I forgot how much I like that one." This was one of those moments for me this morning, and a great way to start the day. The live version of Breathe, especially if you watch Black Holes first, is difficult to get through if you have any empathy for Pau at all, especially if it triggers memories of a time when someone you love was in pain and you couldn't help them. It'll just hit you like a sledgehammer to the chest. I don't know what headspace to be in to watch it, but I've found that focusing on the love that the crowd shows Pau, instead of the meaning of the songs, helps a bit, and that's probably what keeps me coming back to those songs. Be sure to have a fresh box of tissues with you, and also turn on Spanish to English subtitles. 🧸💙
Absolutely will do my friend. I always enjoy reading your comments. This one has been on repeat since the first listen for me. I'll do Black holes and Breathe when the time is right for sure. Its what's best for me and TWA 🙏⚡🧸⚡
Their first OMV, first track on first album, features GREAT allegorical/metaphorical storytelling. This won a few awards and was nominated for others. They really got their message across! Ironically, no band I'm aware of uses social media better, to addict their fans to their music and their story. Seeing a "first timer" watch this video always tells you a LOT about the person's ability to think metaphorically, especially when the guy takes that blind fold off - and a leap of faith! They stare dare us to join them. Wow.
Such an epic song and mv! Won awards at film festivals worldwide including LA, NYC, Glasgow, and Barcelona (and at their age!) Their cover of The Pretender by Foo Fighters is their first "professional" mv imo but yeah with the statement this makes on culture, society, and humanity and the incredible song, it's probably the first mv truly representative of TW. Another great reaction Johnny!🤘
I know I'll be the only one to suggest it, but the live video "1st night opening for The Killers in Arena Monterrey" is from the "XXI Century Blood" era (April 2nd, 2018), and is an outstanding performance of The Warning's earlier material. They were absolutely on FIRE that night. They had been recording in L.A., and returned, between sessions, to Monterrey, MX, to open two shows forThe KIllers. From what they had to say about their time in L.A., it was apparent they were not having a good time. They were running smack into the "the machine"; the music industry, formulaic, money centered, overproduced, pop culture mess which The Warning have always been very careful to avoid. Things were said to and about them by some folks during that L.A. trip which would make any TWA member rise to fight. With the angst of having been told they should do things which violated their artistic integritty, they flew home for the shows with a hearty, "We'll show them how it's done!" attitude. This particular video, although much earlier in The Warning's careers, is my favorite video of theirs. It's about 32 minutes of no frills, in your face, get the job done rock and roll. Here's the link, if you might want to see what I'm talking about. ruclips.net/video/0LVNfh22FXk/видео.html
While I will always appreciate their material from Escape the Mind, XXI Century Blood and Queen of the Murder Scene in which they established their overall sound and musical attitude, I don't a all mind that Error and now Keep Me Fed have them pushing forward. They have a solid base in which they proved themselves, but aren't complacent and unafraid of reaching down newer avenues. I will admit, the first time I heard "More" it gave me pause, but the song grew on me not unlike the way "Kool Aid Kids" did from Error. They probably won't ever have the same rawness that XXI Century Blood offers, then again, that's when Dany was only 15. Their experiences and maturity will become even more polished over time, but some of the tracks on KMF bring us a different kind of rawness as in a couple of months, they will all be in their 20's.
I'm excited for their future music as well. I think they will continue to grow and evolve with each new project. More doesn't come across as an "Traditional" song from the Warning but it grew on me a bit. I got over it and appreciate it for what it is ⚡🧸⚡
@@JohnnyFoxtrotshow There are two "back in the day" concert series to look for. First is the Liceo concert, Liceo being the name of their school where the concert was held, late spring 2015, before they went to Berklee. It featured songs from their first EP plus some covers. The other is the Dakota Bar concert in 2017 which featured songs from the XXI Century Blood album.
This song is still one of my top favs from them. It has everything what we know from The Warning, as you said. It also represents the start of this nice journey that neither of us want to end. Recommendation for Breathe, if you haven’t already and since it’s a short song, it’d be great for you to watch the combo Black Holes + Breathe. Both by Pau alone with a piano live at Pepsi Center.
I love this song and the video! I've watched this many times and still get choked up at the end when they're staring at each other and silently saying; "do you get it?"
Considering their ages when they wrote this song and then made the video it probably puts them at genius level!!! Though it should also be a reminder that they have a team around them who can make things like this happen. Considering how early in their career this was done that team is pretty top class as well!!! With Black Holes and Breath definitely don’t do it unless you feel ready (a bit like Pau with Breath at the Pepsi Centre). You have a double edged sword in that you know the backstory to these songs, as well as When I’m Alone. When I first heard them I didn’t know any of those stories, and yet they totally blindsided me, dredging up events from my past which I thought I had dealt with. With BH it was the fact that Pau was so young when she wrote it and yet she paints such a true picture for me despite not being a personal experience for her. Breath is in some ways the same with the lyrics and yet different because it was an event in her life that triggered those emotions, hence her reluctance to perform it in front of an audience. You, despite not being that old, have events in your past that stir your emotions, so don’t feel pressured to do those reactions until you are ready, if ever!!!
I really enjoyed reading your comment today that I waited to respond to it later so I could read it again 😂 Thank you for sharing. I will do them both cause I want to, just want to make sure I'm going in properly. I've made that mistake before and I won't do it for this one. But that doesn't mean the tears won't flow! 😂
@@JohnnyFoxtrotshow It doesn’t mean that they will flow either. As you’ve said before, if you haven’t got a relatable experience it won’t affect you as deeply as if you do. Pau has done BH many times without any issues, for the Pepsi Centre show it’s the crowd that affects her by singing along so passionately. Breath comes from inside her and it shows. For me they’re both relevant, along with When I’m alone and, sometimes show me the light. They are a bit like the Covid jab I had Tuesday, it hurts like f**k, but I keep touching it to see if it hurts any less!!! Of course, the fact that Pau sings both songs so beautifully and with such intensity and feeling, not to mention they’re filmed and edited so stunningly could be reason enough for the eyes to become blurred!!! For me that’s reason enough sometimes, the Ode to Joy flash mob with the little girl putting a coin in a hat, Pentatonix with Hallelujah and CCR’s video for Have you ever seen the rain spring to mind. It’s difficult to believe that so many people in the world have no real interest in music, but each to their own, I’m not remotely interested in reality television or fashion!!!
I love the way Pau is playing her drums here. The exaggerated arm movements make her look like she is trying to beat her drums to death! It reminds me of the videos of her when she was 10 and needed to really reach up and out to hit a cymbal. And what a guitar solo! No need to play 10,000,000 notes a second, just a great classic sound with a bluesy feeling. And lots of Dany face. And Ale looks like she's embracing the Thunder Queen attitude that started appearing in the video for their cover of "The Pretender". The shots of DPA silhouetted in the sunset (solo and together) are some of my favourite TW video images.
Appreciate you my friend! I enjoy reading the things I can't say in my videos or else some will think I hate Pau 😂⚡🧸⚡Not allowed to say that I like her going crazy on the kit anymore 😂
My vacation prep and last-minute work emergencies HAD to be put on hold to see your reaction to this video. Not only is the official music video a really cool short movie, the song is an absolute banger on top of being more prescient than anyone could have guessed ("Internet demands us to worship it like a god"--holy hell that's WAY too on point). It's hard to pin just one song as a favorite, but when you consider how young they were (17, 15, and 12) when this album came out, you could see that Dany, Pau, and Ale were not going to be stopped and would become the force to reckon with that we now know and love. The guitar solo before the jump reminds me a bit of Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson (effects-wise at least), and it likely makes sense because it was featured on the original Guitar Hero video game, so I'm pretty sure DPA were familiar wit the song and used its influence to color Dany's solo.
Appreciate you taking some time out of your prep for vacation! I really do hope you have a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing that bit about the guitar hero game. Very cool comparison and tie together. You probably are not wrong there! I hate that I stop myself from talking in some videos. Still need to get over that. some days I feel I don't talk enough, others I feel I don't shut up 😂 When things seem "obvious" I tend to not mention things but not everyone is going to get them. Then people think I missed them, and it starts a whole ordeal 😂 I can see why this video won awards. I've said it before and i'll say it a Million times about TW. WELL AHEAD OF THEIR TIME, ALWAYS! I truly Appreciate you my friend 🙏💜🧸
They do an excellent version of this at their '23 Pepsi center show, they have been playing it for 10 years and still seem to have so much fun playing it ⚡💙⚡
This song has a great message and lovely Punk Rock feel. Plus, this video has also a nice Martix symbolism in it ( Pau's favorite movie is Matrix after all!). Also a title song of their album XXI Century Blood (proud LP owner here). ⚡Viva The WARNING⚡ NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/Ayreonaut/TWA/PauFan 🤘😎🤘.
Great reaction the fact they were so young and created this is stunning. The solo is one of my favs by Dany. Dany kills it at the Pepsi Center which was amazing and the stare down at the end of the video is epic. Thank you this was great. 🔥⚡
I think of breathe as a positive song, one that shows that you can overcome your fears and dread because you face them and gain control. It’s a hard truth . Rock on Johnny !
This is a masterpiece of a music video, and one with meaningful social commentary. You might be right about cellphone addiction being down from it's peak. I hope you're right. It really hit me 7 years ago at a big local bar - most of the Boomers and some of the X-ers were up dancing and having fun, the rest of the X-ers and Boomers were sitting talking to friends. Most of the Millennials and some of the older people were noses into their phones, including some young women on the dance floor - not dancing, not talking to each other, but all staring at their phones. It was eerie.
Yeah it's still an issue with the younger generations. I do think that we are in for a "wave" of the youth to come in and be "all disconnected" because "technology" will become something that "old people do". It's a theory but I think it's going to happen in the next few years
It was their first original music video. Imo their video for the Foo Fighters The Pretender cover - Out of the Basement can be called a music video too, but it is a cover.
Yeah, I'd luv to see you go down the LUNARIO CDMX, QOTMS concert journey - (in order), from prologue to denouement - this concept album is done in chapters, it's an awesome saga that they put together as young girls, such a masterpiece!! Think you'll be impressed. P.S. There are five songs in this concert, that are not part of the actual QOTMS story. 1 Unmendable 2 When I'm Alone 3 XXI Century Blood 4 Copper Bullets 5 Survive ⚡️🤘
You are so right, this song has every element that makes The Warning such a great band, you put it perfectly! And I love how the video shows the subject matter about as subtle as a brick to the face.
One cool song from the first album that is yrahically underappreciated is " Show me the light". . One of my favorite guitar solos. Not hard rock, but very moving.
Great reaction to a great music video brutha. No worries on holding off to do Breathe when you're ready, definitely understandable. We'll be here to watch and listen when you're ready.
After 6 months in the TW rabbit hole and seeing this vid a few dozen times I caught an "Easter Egg" The "induction chamber 90125" might be a nod to the English prog rock band Yes, who had an album called 90125 in '83. I recall somewhere Dany mentions Yes as an influence.
One of my top two The Warning MVs! I feel the music speaks for itself, so I want to give a shout-out to what the video brings. GReat use of colour, and there are so many little touches, like when it shows him dropping the phone and cuts to the blindfold hitting the floor. (There's a Nightwish video with a very similar message and imagery, and I don't know which I like best; both are really strong in their own ways.)
Try the Teatro CDMX concert if you want songs your more familiar with , and also has very professional recording. It is the gold standard for Warning concerts up to that point. Lunario was good also, but they were younger and the recording while good, it was not up to Teatro standards. Lunario was also mostly Queen of the murder scene album, and Teatro is mostly Error album with some Queen of the Murder scene. Play it first song to last, we will sit through it all ( its that good ), OR i guess you can do one song at a time. Thank you very much and take care of yourself . We can wait on black holes/breathe.
@@JohnnyFoxtrotshow Doing The Lunario live 2018 full concert as a live stream is usually pretty popular. Tell me the time and I'll show up barring the Apocolypse. lol. You get several minutes behind the scene pre-concert, a little what it's like to be in their enterage, and I think four live songs from their first album XXI Century Blood in between the chapters. It's a great concert that looms large in their legend. Also, there is some activity in between songs that we just miss doing each song separately. Let me know. ruclips.net/video/9VciU3gMMUY/видео.htmlsi=VA9RAJJaiuz3ntAR

They hadn't really settled into their "signature" sound yet at that point. It was their first attempt at original music. Most of those tunes are very different than their later stuff, but extremely impressive especially since they were 14, 12, and 9. They don't like to be called "prodigies" so I won't. 🤘😎⚡
I would be interested in their first originals as well. Watching All of their stuff amazes me 😂⚡🧸⚡

"Eternal Love" EP version. They performed this at one of the TedX presentations, but for the purpose I stated (vocals), the studio version would be better.
These girls have such a knack for catchy music. They makes songs that you hear for the first time and feel like you've heard them before, like long lost memories.
This ones been on repeat since my first listen! ⚡🤘🧸⚡
@@JohnnyFoxtrotshowLike a constant loop inside your head that's always on repeat :-?
Not "the first video", but the first that was genuinely crafted by a professional video production company - and, of course, it's the first track off their "second" album ("first", if you don't count _Escape the Mind_ ). Sponsored and carefully created, it captures the essence of the song perfectly, probably better than the ladies ever expected it to. An "award-winning" vid in every sense of the term..
Thanks for sharing friend. Maybe I need to go even further back then! Appreciate you 🙏⚡🧸⚡
The only previous video that could have been professionally done (as opposed to their basement videos and the Liceo concert footage) was their Foo Fighters cover of The Pretender shot on a hillside. They could have pulled that one off on their own. Then there's what could be considered an OMV for When I'm Alone. But then nothing until Choke in 2021. The rest are all concert footage videos, some professionally done.
@@JohnnyFoxtrotshow You would want to go if you haven't the whole Lunario concert. I can't remember if you have.
I still need too
This is far and away my favorite of their original music videos. Six Feet Deep comes close for me, but this one still reigns. The song itself absolutely *RIPS* :)

This song rocks! It got bumped to number two after HYCAD came out
LOVE THAT ONE TOO! ⚡🧸⚡
Wow.
I can see why this video won awards. Always ahead of their time! ⚡🧸⚡
Always appreciate you Brent. I can see why this one received high praise and awards. Revolutionary for kids this age for sure! 🙏⚡🧸⚡
@@JohnnyFoxtrotshow Great reaction! as always.

Thanks for sharing my friend. I enjoyed reading your comment. I have your video saved. I appreciate you 🙏⚡🧸⚡
While I will always appreciate their material from Escape the Mind, XXI Century Blood and Queen of the Murder Scene in which they established their overall sound and musical attitude, I don't a all mind that Error and now Keep Me Fed have them pushing forward.

XXI Century Blood album is jam-packed with greatness. Every song is a fuckin' blast. It's crazy.
I'm familiar with some but not All from this record! ⚡🧸⚡
Appreciate you my friend. I will do just that! 🙏⚡🧸⚡
Yes this is the first OMV they did.
⚡️🤘🧸⚡️
I love this song and the video! I've watched this many times and still get choked up at the end when they're staring at each other and silently saying; "do you get it?"
SO SO GOOD ⚡🧸⚡
The song is FIRE, This video is FIRE!! it has won awards also!!
I can see why! ⚡🧸⚡
For you - 🧸💜
For The Warning - ⚠️❣️⚡️❤️🔥
Always appreciate You! 💜🧸⚡

After 6 months in the TW rabbit hole and seeing this vid a few dozen times I caught an "Easter Egg"
The "induction chamber 90125" might be a nod to the English prog rock band Yes, who had an album called 90125 in '83. I recall somewhere Dany mentions Yes as an influence.
AHHH That IS a Great Catch! 🤘⚡🧸⚡
One of my top two The Warning MVs! I feel the music speaks for itself, so I want to give a shout-out to what the video brings. GReat use of colour, and there are so many little touches, like when it shows him dropping the phone and cuts to the blindfold hitting the floor.
