Where would we be without these wonderful archives .I'm so thankful to RUclips for breaking out the archives collection.paying dues and remembering the original and not forgotten blues artists.
The best thing that could have happened to a blues fan was to be at a Luther Allison show and having never heard of Luther Allison because what lay ahead was an electrifying man who on a foundation of blues funk delivered thunder, lightning in a blitzkrieg of ecstasy. Been no one like him ever since! He's right up there with the big three Kings, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy and Steve Ray.
Oh man, what a performance! A total bluesman - fantastic guitar player, great bluesy voice, his ability to work the crowd and best of all, a great charming personality. There is no equal. One can watch this video over and over again, and invariably feel you want to watch it once more.
Ich habe Luther Allison so oft live erlebt und ich liebe ihn! Egal, wann und wie oft ich ihn sehe, er berührt mich so tief! Ich bin ihm unendlich dankbar!
Well, he was, as you probably know, based in Europe (Paris)for many years, and I think he was pretty popular there, and appeared regularly at Montreux Jazz Fest. I think he received many accolades and awards towards the end of his all too short life. He's still highly admired - we know that because so many of you tell us that he's really good but not so famous!
Luther was one of the best for show and blues guitar...I am a fan. I Remember him in Paris where he lived for ten years (one night he jammed in a small bars in the 9arrond. of Paris). he was well known here as "the real mc Coy". In the 90', he used to hang around in Pigalle's guitar shop to fix his axes and talk about music. I can't believe that a bad Cancer killed him just one month after that great performance.(this was on the fourth of July 97, and he passed on the 12 of August). So Long LU!!!!
gave me one of the great blues visuals i ever had. on stage at a rock festival in steven's point, wisc circa 1977. his set was at night and my seat was within 3ft (i was working in(secure)ity for the festival. as i looked up his head was silhouetted by the lights. i never forget the sweat dripping from him while steam was rising from him into the cool night air. unforgettable, as is his music, da blues r.i.p. 1997
Awesome, when I discovered him myself through his Bad News is Coming album I couldn't believe he wasn't more famous. Right up there with Buddy Guy IMO.
I first discovered Luther Allison from MySpace, years ago, when you would post some music, and they would recommend some stuff that they thought you might like. They were right!!!
I saw him in 80 or 81 in south France at 3 o'clock in a "boite de nuit" , alone , 10 people were arond , too stone... and he played... 20 min, always alone... and after we had a beer together , thats all :)
To Ruf Records... Ó what a fantastic music presented by magic Luther Allison...!!! Bravo...O.K. I love it so much...so much...Up to the black musician people...JOŠi, 10022016, 05.55
I could listen to him all day- come to think of it I have. Luther was amazing, no one comes close. He would play his ass off, Luther and the band were on fire. [ Later I became a fan of James Soulberg his rhythm guitar player].
he died in the 90's, when is this show from? awesome show by the way.....saw him several times shortly before his death at the zoo bar in lincoln ne.... best shows ever. walked the entire bar then dismounted with finess.....at 70+ years old. left the states due to the tax man. became the BB King of europe in paris exile. One of the greatest of all-time. Best kept secret from many. Met his son Bernhard in Germany in 92'. He said you think I'm good.......you gotta go see my dad....and I did !!!

The best and least recognized blues artist I know of. Spread the word. Hid son is playing now.
One of the most underrated players in the business!

Hatte das Glück, dass ich die Band in Zürich live erleben konnte. Grossartige Band!!!
Luther Allison: one of the all-time greats. Not as famous as a lot of the blues guitarists out there...I can`t imagine why.
I don't know why but he definetly is among the best.

One of the most fun times I had at a concert was dancing to Luther Allison jamming at the Cabooze Bar in Minneapolis while I was tripping.
