I had him in my cab in Seattle 1996. I knew who he was the second I saw him. I jumped out and opened his door and bowed. He said what was that for? I told him The King never opens his door. He laughed all the way to the Airport..Great Blues player and a Great person..Rest in Peace Luther..
Was lucky enough to see Luther a couple of times at a small club, Kammgarn, in Kaiserslautern, Germany. One show was in Jan '97, barely six months before he passed. He played his heart out for over three hours. Off the stage, walking through the crowd, guitar blazing, out the door, into the lobby and the band kept time on stage. One of them said, "He's probably out the front door and on the street!" Between sets, he'd sit in the lobby, just talking with fans and signing autographs. A true gentleman and outstanding performer. Bernard is carrying on the family tradition very well!
@@DrGargani He was one of a kind. His albums are fine but his live performances were out of this world. One of his albums - Live in Chicago - Blues Festival is one the best that captures him live.
When I get up and crawl out of bed I'm Rockin to the Blues and it makes me feel wild n crazy like a child. So kick up the Blues and play it Loud all day n night long till the lights go out. I'm Billy's brother James and I can't get enough of the Blues.
Luther played many late nights at my studio in Madison Wisconsin during my "Tuesday Blues" jam sessions in the early 80's. He often played with a Hammond B3 player, Bruce Koenig and A.C. Reed on Sax along with other members of Albert Collins' band. And Pat McDonald of Timbuk 3.
I was looking for Johnny Lang's Cherry Red Wine......I saw Luther Allison the writer of a song Johnny sang.....I had to listen and I thought I was in concert.....I have got to get me some Luther Allison's music.....My brother Cowboy loves the Blues....I know he knows about this man.....This is just plain wonderful....
Saw him several times with the Solberg crew. Always tops and under represented in the US. Met him side stage at the Doheny Blues festival around 94-95. He sat and chatted with us for almost an hour. What a kind gentleman. Last time at Great American Music Hall in SF, several weeks before he passed. Came up to our table wailing slide on It Hurts Me Too. So blessed to enjoy such a great talent. Him and Gary Moore are my tops.
I saw Luther several times at concerts in Germany, 1 time in Memphis/TN - Memphis in May...each time I was captivated by his charisma, his guitar playing and his voice. He is still my absolute hero of the blues today
Luther Allison um dos meus bluesmans preferidos musico que toca com alma e sente os Blues gostava de o ter visto em concerto ao vivo com muita pena minha um grande gentleman.Obrigado

You are so right a true performer....I never saw him in concert but just listening to this live performance gave me the chills.....
A great bluesman and human being, missing you Luther!
unfortunately, I got into Luther just after he passed away, so I never got to see him live!

You just can’t learn the feeling this master has…you have to be born with it…..it’s called “bleeding the Blues.”
Sure!!!
Very lucky musicians to play with an absolute master!
James Solberg and his band was no slouch, I think it was a great match. I saw them many times.
luther lets his gold top cry out in a heavenly tone.
You’re right. Luther sounded best on the gold top. Saw him around this time in Nashville @ an outdoor gig & that Lester was screaming.

Love me some Luther Allison
Luther's style was based on emoting feelings,, BB King said if no feelings, it's not the blues. Never got the recognition he was entitled to.
Blues Legend...
😎 thanks
❤THE BEST 🎸🎶
Maybe the greatest blues voice.. but, which date was it recorded???
July 4th, 1997- just 40 days before Luther went to another universe.
