The lead guitar break played by Rod Price on this song is the BEST, the BEST I've ever heard or seen anywhere and I've been listening to rock and blues for about 52 years. Yup, 52 years. Rod Price is an absolute genius but here, he's having one of those nights where it all just goes right and explodes. Phew.
Rod Price was the most underrated slide guitarist in the business....end in my opinion, he was in the top 10 sliders ever to touch a guitar! Thanks for the Memories Rod and Dave!!!
I could listen to Foghat all day, every day. Rod's slide is mezmerizing. Very distinctive style and tone. Touches your soul! This performance makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
I had no idea Foghat was this incredible. I'd only heard "Fool for the city" and "Slow ride" throughout my life. I had never heard a version of "It hurts me too" that was so violent, hard, and in your face as this was. It was like getting punched by God. I have a new found respect for these guys. This was epic bad-assery on a scale I cant even comprehend. Well done, fellas. Well done.
Only those of us who saw them live, knew about it. Saw them about 6 times, between '72 and '80, and had their first 5 albums. The live album with this performance, from 1995(?), is one of their best, containing Louisiana Blues (a song they did when part of Savoy Brown), Feel So Good, Sweet Home Chicago, and more. They were a big part of my twenties, and will celebrate them forever! Still on a playlist on a flash drive in my car, those songs and Terraplane Blues, Feel So Bad, Home in My Hand, Wild Cherry, Road Fever, and, I Just Wanna Make Love to You. Always loud, windows down!✌️😎👍
Young ladies that song gets us going. You probably 3 drinks .This song comes up . I ask you to dance we are a fixture for 5 mins.A little closer for comfort.Wow !! She says.Thats the way it was in 1978.Thanks for memory's.Just between you and me.💓❤️💞
It's 3 Am. Im wide awake listening Ng to It hurts me too. This is the 6 the time I'm playing it. Both studio and live versions. Can't get enough of that slide. Dave is a great guitarist in his own He does more than u think. Solid. I miss them both . Hope to see them in Heaven.
I was 15 years old and I saw foghat party down in cardwell Missouri now I'm 58 years old we were partying down and got to shake the led singer have and the drummer gave a drum stick love those guys still to these days rest in peace he's in heaven not still rocking out
I can NOT get enough of this sound....an amazing group...those were the days!!! POWERFUL!! ....and tight!! I hope you are all digging this too!!.............pure magic.....pure ......electric blues
Foghat toured nearly every year and I had the privilage to see them several times. You NEVER left thinking you didn't get your moneys worth.Their Music and Spirit will live forever!!!!
I've been into blues and rock music for about 50 years. I have a huge number of records and CDs in my collection which has a strong leaning to guitar-based music and I love it all. But, I've just found my favourite lead guitar break. This playing by Rod Price is freakish in quality and almost unbelievable. Just stunning talent and feel for blues and his guitar. Holy Moley. THIS right here is the benchmark for all you guitarists out there. Pure gold, mate.
OMG what an amazing voice of Dave Peverett! It hurts me too, that I never did get to see one of my favourite bands and the amazing dual lead/harmony guitar with Rod Price.
I was born in Greenville (very near Dayton) and have lived in Alabama since 1985. Saw many concerts at Hara Arena including FogHat back in my teens. I saw FogHat at The Hangar in Dothan Al in 1997 with this line up and it’s cool that here is a video recorded in Dayton the same year. These guys always put on a good show. I have the studio version of this tune on my playlist to this day. Miss ‘em.
In the 70's These guys were famous for touring more than almost anyone. They were onstage an average of 300 nights a year, all through the 70's, maybe into the 80's too! That is an astounding amount of touring! Then you got to factor in time to write, record albums etc.. Almost no days off ever! Only Jimi himself, early Beatles, and early Allman Bros, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, maybe Mahogany Rush, possibly spent more time on music, or about the same amount.
Rod Price is the greatest slide guitarist I've heard. Without a doubt. Just go back to Foghat's first album and trawl though the collection. Just fantastic.
Dave was a great Blues "shouter." He also had a great singing voice. Foghat got me through the 70's with all the singer/songwriter crap going on, they could always be counted on for some good ole Rock ' n ' Roll.
At 7:56 the look on Rod Price's face says it all!!! I ain't ashamed to admit I cried when i watched this performance. These guys are the answer to my security questions (i.e., "What was the first concert you ever saw?" ANSWER: Foghat 1976
same here, same tour '76 small club in Lubbock, Tx. Point Blank, REO & Foghat. btw ^ is RPs '58 LPJr d/c modded out for 2 PAFs - every recorded slide solo was played on ^ guitar, always in open E tuning ala just got paid zztops
There are many good straight blues versions of "It Hurts Me Too" but the studio cut from Foghat's "Stone Blues" has them all beat. No flash, no over the top leads, just solid blues. Dave and Rod were truly something else.
I saw lonesome Dave, Roger and Tone with Savoy Brown and when they started Foghat I saw their 1st US show. Lonesome Dave was one of the best blues singers ever. Most fun and underated band ever!
Lonesome Dave, Roger Earle and Tone Stevens left Savoy Brown to form Foghat. Foghat was a great live band, saw them several times. Go back and listen to some Savoy Brown when they were there with Chris Youlden on vocals. Another great band from back in the day.
Would love to see more of them on YT. Rod is sharp as a TACK. That slide playing is super smokin' and Dave was a great front man and a good a player in his own right. Miss this kind of music and live performances.
Eric didn't replace Dave (I mean, heck, WHO could replace Dave? Really?) when he jouned in '81, but Rod. Besides , this is tthe actual original lineup. The ONLY Foghat, although Cartwright's era is admittedly pretty good . I mean, dig. ♫ChChCha Boogie!♫ Took a while to get used to him at first, and of course I still prefer the band with Rod, but there's some GOOD tracks on the three Cartwright albums.
from their Savoy Brown years thru all their Foghat years, Lonesome Dave Pevrett and Rod Price almost literally opened or headlined with EVERYBODY in Rock!!! These guys were SO good whenever I saw them! Rod was the Man on slide, but whenever he and Lonesome Duetted on slide, it was just excelent! I really do miss them both.
This is incredible video & the very best of this version of this song & I have watched them all. Eric Clapton, Grateful Dead & the original. So awesome!
This live version of this classic is a tour de force elevating the power and keeping the blues element real at the same time. As far as I'm concerned it's the definitive one as such.
Price is simply the greatest rock blues slide guitar player in history. Lonesome Dave is the perfect partner in crime for this legendary boogie blues band
1st Concert Ever ❤ Only fails was puking on some dudes platform shoes . Accomplishment was 4 of us riding in an Opal afterwards. Good Memories , good friends & Great music.
We went to see Foghat several weeks ago @ Paso Robles Fair. That was my 3rd time I have seen them.... ABSOLUTELY ON FIRE ! ! NEVER BETTER..... TRULY THEY ROCK STILL VERY ENERGIZED !
This is probably one of grandads best performances ever.. rest easy grandad we love and miss you.
I actually believe this is the best version of this song that has ever been recorded!
I saw them in Washington State in mid 70s! With Rod Stuart.
U should be very proud.
Your grandad and Rod got me through high school back in the 70s. What a time, man. Be very proud.
He was awesome, like the rest of the band!
From Savoy Brown to Foghat...some of the best music ever!
Foghat should be in the Rock N Roll hall of fame .
They're not?! 😢😮 Hurts my feelings!!!!
Yes they should. They might get there one day.
Fog Hat was top of the list back in high school. Brings back bitter sweet memories today.
It hurts me that all of you didn't experience the 70's. I'd love to do it again
If it hurts a few, it hurts me too.
There’s nothing like DA BLUES. Slow blues opens the soul to FREEDOM. Moving thru live freely . BLUES RULES
The lead guitar break played by Rod Price on this song is the BEST, the BEST I've ever heard or seen anywhere and I've been listening to rock and blues for about 52 years. Yup, 52 years. lonesome Dave laid down some serious fucking lead guitar to about the 420 mark

Another reason why the good old days were just that
Goes without saying
Rod Price was the most underrated slide guitarist in the business....end in my opinion, he was in the top 10 sliders ever to touch a guitar! Thanks for the Memories Rod and Dave!!!
I saw this lineup around that time and he had become a monster slide player right up there with Rory and Johnny and Duane etc,
I disagree. At the time, he was the best slide guitarist, period.

I saw them Twice in the 70s in Dallas! One of the Best I ever saw! LONESOME DAVE AND Rod were awesome!
Amazing as always. Dave and Rod were the finest boogie-double-act-guitarists ever. Fantastic slide and rhythm work. They're sadly missed.
Foghat....... The Best Ever Rock N Roll Band I have ever seen or heard!!!!!!!
My God. That guitar solo gave me goose pimples. Brilliant!
Holy hell what a guitar solo. Blown away.
I've been rockin out to foghat 41 years..... First heard em when I was 10....
Rod price was awesome, never got the attention his talent warranted.
None of them did.
These guys added so much the the songs that they did by the original masters. Rod Price and Dave reinvigorated them....
They got it in Cleveland
WhenThey don't get the credit they're due, it hurts me too.

Stone Blue by Foghat!
Stone Blue's version was indeed the best!!!
some of the finest guitar work ever recorded. WoW.

Agree! Do you know if that's Dave or Eric in this video?
You really can't tell?
