There's also Rufus to use with Windows 11 24H2 on Windows-to-Go on a Patriot USB 3.2 Gen 2 RAGE prime drive with speed of 600 MB/s. That's I will do on my Asus portable computer of 10 years.

The best option - Zorin. It looks like, and functions like Windows, without the negatives. It takes a bit of work, but if I can pull it off, anyone can.

Just bought a license for Win 10 Pro. Had guys at work install Pro after SSD upgrade but had Home originally. Got rid of the watermark!
But looking forward to a new laptop with a Zen 5 CPU in the upcoming months. Hoping for something 15" + numpad which is super rare from the makers. :/

Yes, Linux has a learning curve, and it is more for tech-savvy dudes, but still Linux is better than keep using Windows unsupported... One can jump to w11 buying pre-owned PCs, any I5 equal or above 8th gen is enough to get into w11 and there are plenty of deals now for gen 8th and 9th hardware around...

The learning curve is not the issue. Anyone with a normal IQ can learn Linux. The main issue is the stuff that won't run on Linux that people need to use... and there's a crap-ton of it.
If you're just a web traveler, then Mint Linux with Firefox or Chrome is a one day learn.
But if you're trying to stream high quality music or play local files in a media player, you're pretty much stuck with crappy players that do not support the exclusive mode that gives you bit perfect playback. (And yes, that is a deal breaker for me.)
Then there's all the custom software people use for work and creativity.... That is a very long list.

Personally, I do not Linux as an option.

I might get W10 ESU if not too expensive for my 2012 Dell W10 22H2 desktop. // '0patch can be used anywhere in the World, except in the sanctioned countries.' Is U.S. a sanctioned country??
