Shiny Films I want to ask a question. I cant edit my gaming video clip recorded using OBS..it roughly 1hr 10 mins...in hitfilms and i also have a powerful cpu...pls help
I think flat out the best camera you can buy in this range is the Panasonic GH4, you can get them pre-owned or refurbished for 500-700 dollars. It features 4k, flat color profiles. All around excellent camera.
Great video! I still use my t3i as my main camera for stills and video and honestly it's incredible, especially for it's age! (Also there's a repeated audio edit at 6:00 - 6:18 ;)
I have it and still using it too. However, definitely not a good cam for video shooting. it only provides full HD with maximum 30 fps. well, maximum resolution is ok. Don't expect 4k for old and cheap cam but it should be at least 60 fps to shoot legit slo mo. 720P is just not enough.
I hadn't used mine since the year I bought in 2013 and recently was like wish I could afford a DSLR and then was like WAIT a second... and it's actually doing pretty well and teaching me a lot. Would love a Sony a6300 though.
Great suggestions! As a Canon shooter, I’d just have 1 thing to say, which is; they don’t make the T3i anymore, but the T5i is relatively the same price, and still being manufactured :)
Yeah, the T3i is discontinued now. If you can get it refurbished though it's a super cheap budget option. Thanks for the suggestion, I know you love the 700D :)
For the same price I wouldbuy a used Panasonic GH2 or G6. Way sharper, no moiré, better in low light... Watch " 6 reasons buy Panasonic G6 for 1080p RUclips / Vlogs in 2017 by Chung Dha "
t6i has no improvement in image quality from t3i in video mode. Buy a Panansonic GH2 or G6 for the same price. Better image (sharper, no moiré, no aliasing) more features. Lens choice is larger : Cheap legacy SLR lenses (all brands and mounts will fit), a lot of ultra cheap C-mount lenses will also fit ... for example the fujian 25mm, 35mm and 50mm, 8mm F3.8 Fish-eye CCTV Lens on ebay...
You forgot the Sony A6000. Amazing little camera with extremely good AF ideal for gimbals! Has tons of features like zebra, peaking and auto ISO with limits during video!
Excellent video! Loved every second of it. This is exactly what I look for in a video. Not busting on anyone else’s hustle, but you get straight to the point. I currently have a Canon T4i and I love it to death, but looking to upgrade to another Canon hopefully with a screen that can flip out. Your video is very informative and excellent for those looking to start with there first camera at a good price, or those looking to upgrade like me. Definitely subscribed. Can’t wait for more content man! Keep it up. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you're considering buying a camera, don't go cheap. I bought a cheap camcorder, and was so unhappy with it. So I ended up buying a more expensive camera. Now, I have two cameras. I think I'll try to sell my camcorder, it just didn't have any manual features, which are important for film making. I bought a Panasonic Lumix G7 and I have to recommend it. It has all the functions one could ever need. And it is superior to all dslrs at similar prices. The only camera that really compares is the Sony a6300, and it is more expensive.
A G7 is a cheap camera. It's not even considered a budget camera because that's how cheap it is. If you bought a camcorder that was cheaper than that then it's on you. Should have done your research. Buying a camcorder for film is stupid period (doesn't matter what you buy).
"If you're considering buying a camera, don't go cheap. I bought a cheap camcorder, and was so unhappy with it." You said it best cause I learned the hard way
2020 now.. any updates. I need a camera for video (dont care for photography). Cinematic type. Shoot videos outside day and night. slow motion. Blurry background helps. What do you recommend for $300-$600?
One of the most important features for video is a good microphone. You don't give enough info on that. You recommend a D3400 over the D3300 but the last one has a mic input which is a big plus for video.
Thanks. I'm looking to expand my content just a touch, but I don't think I'll ever stop making Hitfilm Express tutorials. By "more cool effects," what exactly do you mean? If you have any video ideas I'm willing to consider making videos on them.

For the same price I would trade a Canon T3i or 1200D for a Panasonig GH2 or G6. Way sharper, no moiré, better in low light, smaller, lighter, and way more features.
You do not want the Nikon D3400 for video. Its screen does not flip out and its continuous autofocus is practically useless. I really hope that you did do physical research with the cameras beyond just looking up their specs because its very different using and holding it than knowing the specs. I have owned a D3400 for two years and while its colour is gorgeous and it does shoot at full 1080p video, anything which requires autofocus will not work for. I recommend it for photo but not video. I recommend the Olympus Pen 7 as a decently priced video camera
I have a Nikon D3300 (external mic jack makes it better for video than the D3400). You can get one for about $380 refurbished or about $500 new. However... I also have a Panasonic Lumix FZ-300. It shoots 4K video (you can pull stills from the video), is weather and dust sealed, works pretty well in low light, has an external mic jack and just about every feature known for any camera. It's $400 these days. The only drawback is the small sensor size 1/2.3 ---- I prefer it for video over my D3300 because it's so easy to set up and go. It also has the flip screen and is easily controlled by a smart phone. I can't believe it didn't make this list. It is a big DSLR size camera. Maybe that's why he didn't like it enough to add.
Want to shoot mainly cinematic shots and videos where I talk in front of the camera Should I buy a Sony a6000 at €350 with the kit lenses or a Canon 70d at €300 and are any of these a good deal (second hand)? Do not know much about cameras.
If you don't mind a small sensor and 12MP on an otherwise awesome camera (as big as a DSLR), get the Panasonic FZ300. F2.8 lens out to 600mm, 4K video (but I always shoot in 1080/60p), has a mic jack and hot shoe. After shot focusing. You can get stills from your video. Check out the reviews. They're all good and should be. It's my video camera. A lot easier to use than my Nikon D3300 and because of that, the videos are a lot better too. He picked the D3400 over the D3300 because of the lens (that you can buy and put on the D3300 if you choose), but the D3300 has a mic jack and the D3400 doesn't. I think that's a much bigger deal.
In fact... Amazon has the D3300 (has a mic jack, APS-C sensor, 24MP) with the same new lens the D3400 comes with for $470. Here's the link if they'll let me post it... www.amazon.com/Nikon-D3300-AF-P-18-55mm-Digital/dp/B01JN28QQA?keywords=nikon+d3300&qid=1537319391&s=Electronics&sr=1-1&ref=sr_1_1
Which camera is the best in low light? I need a good camera that can shoot indoors really well. My camera that I am using right now can't take the color black. It puts noise all over the image if there is black in the frame.
Ethan Butler what is your camera? How much low light do you need. Honestly, do not rely on high ISO’s all the time, u should just learn to light your scene because it will look better obviously. However, Sony cameras do really well with low light, and most APSC sensor cameras should do fine as well. The Sony a6300 is APSC and has good low light.
Anybody have any suggestions lens wise for the Panasonic lumix G7? I’m looking to get a budget friendly lens for overhead shots/product reviews. Let me know!
Budget is subjective. Budget doesnt mean cheap it means it is within a certain price range. If 1000 isnt your budget thats ok. But again budget doesnt mean cheap or affordable, it is subjective to the persons price range.
