@@MrWhangdoodles You’ll hear anywhere from a 1:1 to 4:1 scotch/Drambuie ratio, depending on the source. I generally do a 3:1 ratio for any whiskey-liqueur duo, but I like my drinks on the medium-dry side.
Exactly, I don’t think anyone drinks it neat. It’s a liqueur. Drambuie is no more a flavored whiskey than Grand Marnier is a flavored Cognac. I love Rusty Nails almost as much as an Old Fashioned. I make them 2oz blended scotch like Chevas Regal 3/4 to 1 oz Drambuie stir on the rocks and float 1/2 oz Ardbeg 10 or Uigeadail on top. Then an optional second float or Angostura Bitters. Heavenly!
Yes, that's what I keep a bottle of Drambuie for. I use a ratio of 3:1 or 4:1, whisky to Drambuie. I have only tried it with Johnnie Walker Black, but my idea was to use it for whiskies I don't finish because they're too boring (I'll try with Laphroaig sometime, though). My father kept a bottle of Rock and Rye in the pantry when I was a kid. When I was sick he would pour a little bit in a glass and have me drink it before I went to bed. Always woke up the next day feeling better after having a great nights sleep. Also try a Snakebite, it's a shot of Yukon Jack with some Roses lime juice floated on top.
Try a Rusty Nail with the Drambuie. 2 parts whiskey, I like it with a middle of the road bourbon, and 1 part Drambuie, serve over large ice and with a lemon twist.
I like mint juleps a lot, although I add some bitters in addition to the mint and simple. It’s a little delicate, and you have to be careful about your ratios, but if you fine tune it to your palate, it can be quite enjoyable.
I keep Drambuie in the house for a Flu remedy! The thick sweetness coats a sore throat and the alcohol helps you sleep! Love the stuff when I've got a cold or flu!
ive seen a couple schools of thought on the mint julep - some say its best with you brush the mint around the tin prior to adding whiskey/sugar/ice, and some say all you need is the aromatics from the mint bouquet garnish. there are those who muddle mint in the bottom, but that seems to be a biiiig nono with bartenders
When I worked at the liquor store my boss mixed me Southern Comfort and Monster, as well as the Permafrost Yukon Jack and Coffee Patron ... oof this video is bringing me good memories
If you're ever looking to do a second episode here are some more Canadian suggestions: Crown Royal Peach (literally tastes like peach rings) Wolfhead Coffee (more of a liquer) Spicebox chocolate (company claims the roots of this lie in prohibition when rye would be put in used cocoa barrels to make it back towards your side of the border)
I'm glad you guys did the Knob Creek Smoked Maple. It is my favorite whiskey, and was the first bottle I ever bought myself that I didn't regret. Now I always have a bottle on hand. It is great to have after having like, breakfast for dinner.
All right, I'm only 4 1/2 minutes or so into the video and I must take some exception to the mint julep critique. My wife and I just visited Louisville in early summer and discovered is a distinct, stark difference between the julep syrup designed to make fast cocktails versus the dedicated bartenders that freshly make a fine mint julep. In addition, how dare you with blaspheming egg nog, sirs! Even if I prefer my nog with tequila. Love the content, as always, and especially loving the atmospheric ambiance.
I like mint juleps. Had one last year thinking it was a mule of some kind. Was made with fresh picked mind from my friend's yard. Seems like the trick is to go fresh and subtle on the mint
I thought I was like one of the only ones that wasn’t a huge fan of fireball. And I love cinnamon. Also with the Screwball...try adding some to an American stout. The chocolate flavor and peanut butter obviously works. And the sweetness of Screwball is cut a bit by the bitter stout
I bought a bottle of that Knob Creek Smoked Maple, not knowing anything about it, and LOVED it. The bottle didn't last long. It really is one hell of a dessert drink. Strangely, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked matches the flavor profile quite closely. Only it's less sweet and even better.

Hey, I love southern comfort -- it's simple and tastes nice -- and egg nog (especially the Southern Comfort brand)! All-time favorite whiskeys have to be Lagavulin Distillers Edition and some special edition Macallan we found in an office where I used to work. Those are delicious and both experiences best had when I am in a very thoughtful mood. Southern comfort, for me, is just... nice, simple, and comforting.
Good lord! I discovered whiskey and then I discovered you guys. You guys just put a damn smile on my face. Thank you so much for sharing your time with all of us. I love your show. I know my name might throw you off a bit. I like to say I represent the McDermott name.
So Mint Juleps are our go to cocktail after we started drinking them at a Kentucky Derby watch party. We bought the bottle thinking we could be lazy and have it over ice. Now it just collects dust. It tastes like someone told a person what was in a mint julep but they didn't listen and just threw garage in a bottle.
Actually used to drink Southern Comfort way back in the 70s . Then one night after I finished off my SC I decided to drink some of my lady friends Sloe Gin . To this day just the smell of SC has me hangin over the toilet . Nowadays its bourbon or scotch , no weird flavors !! Really enjoy the channel 👍👍
Now that it’s winter, I’ve been putting a splash of Screwball in hot chocolate and it is delicious 😅 just to try, I even put a splash in a glass of Bailey’s and even Khalua and it wasn’t bad. I’m a sucker for peanut butter tho
I tried the Skrewball with iced coffee and it was good. I tried a shot Skrewball with a can of PBR hard coffee and it was amazing. I want to try the Crown Royal.
Rock & Rye is, since Colonial times, and still is, at least here in Appalachia, a cold/fever cure, with a twist of lemon. Served hot. I'm surprised y'all Texas boys didn't know that. Great channel.
The only thing I drink from this episode is Drambuie in a Rusty Nail. The sweetness and herbaceous character of this liquer (3/4 ounce) goes perfect with a smoky Scotch or Irish (Connemara does well 1.5 ounce), and the refreshing sourness of fresh squeezed lemon juice (half a lemon), a twisted lemon peel garnish, and topped with soda water on ice....so nice and refreshing, balanced yet interesting.
I'm a fan of good whiskey I do not like most flavored whiskeys, but I am a fan of bird dog peach is my favorite the blackberry is pretty good as well haven't tried the other's.
My wife loves the salted caramel. She used to stock up every year when it hit the shelves for the holidays when it was a limited holiday release, so now we have like 3 bottles of the stuff in our cupboard.
One that I used to love putting in my coffee was the Revel Stoke Pecan whisky...it was so sugary and flavored that it worked perfectly as a coffee mixer...
One to try is Old Pulteney Stroma malt whiskey. It's a very sweet toffee like flavor but with ice it's a nice desert cocktail. One trick (probably heresy) is to cut it with some ordinary malt whiskey to make it less sweet, still add ice though.
I love a good mint julep (or mojito) on a summer evening. Yeah I can admit it. Jim Beam Vanilla and Jack Daniels Honey are good in coke but that can be a bit too sweet. Don’t get me wrong, I also like a good neat bourbon too.
I would be beyond thrilled to see you guys try some of the flavored spirits from City Gate in St. Augustine FL. Their whole shtick is making flavored spirits (whiskey included) that are light on the sweetness and focus on natural extracts and flavors. Totally changed my opinion on what flavored spirits can be. When I walked into their business and they said "we specialize in flavored spirits" I was like :( and by the time I left after sampling everything I was like :D

Those are the best whiskey tribe episodes. Just two goofballs drinking a bunch of whiskey.
And holy crap... that is the best socks ad ever. How have you guys not opened an ad agency yet?
rex did use to work for an ad agency...
Rex is an ad agency. For real!!
@@julienalonso22 How is he not a billionaire then?
My father kept a bottle of Rock and Rye in the pantry when I was a kid. When I was sick he would pour a little bit in a glass and have me drink it before I went to bed. Always woke up the next day feeling better after having a great nights sleep. Also try a Snakebite, it's a shot of Yukon Jack with some Roses lime juice floated on top.
"We got one for all the genders: black, white, and dark blue." 🤣
😂😂😂
Completely taking the p*ss out of political correctness love it lol
Dumb
@@ClosestToTheSun yes you are haha
Try a Rusty Nail with the Drambuie.
2 parts whiskey, I like it with a middle of the road bourbon, and 1 part Drambuie, serve over large ice and with a lemon twist.
I haven't seen y'all in soooo long.... The bell was unrung! Not cool RUclips. It's rung now my whiskey guys.✌🏻🐵
I like mint juleps a lot, although I add some bitters in addition to the mint and simple. It’s a little delicate, and you have to be careful about your ratios, but if you fine tune it to your palate, it can be quite enjoyable.
how the hecc do you not like eggnog?..... Oh you´re Daniel, tht explains it :D
I keep Drambuie in the house for a Flu remedy! The thick sweetness coats a sore throat and the alcohol helps you sleep! Love the stuff when I've got a cold or flu!
I know Crown Royal Peach 🍑 is really popular, and probably the best rated Flavored Whiskey that I’ve seen rated
I was hoping Crown Peach would've gotten tested.
ive seen a couple schools of thought on the mint julep - some say its best with you brush the mint around the tin prior to adding whiskey/sugar/ice, and some say all you need is the aromatics from the mint bouquet garnish. there are those who muddle mint in the bottom, but that seems to be a biiiig nono with bartenders
The crown royal salted caramel with a fresh squeezed apple cider mixer is a legendary combo
Oh shit, thanks
When I worked at the liquor store my boss mixed me Southern Comfort and Monster, as well as the Permafrost Yukon Jack and Coffee Patron ... oof this video is bringing me good memories
watching Rex and Daniel clean those glasses makes me thing Daniel is better with women
You must not be good with the ladies sorry buddy!
Rex and Daniel eh? they need intros at the start, i was thinking one was Jackson Galaxy and wondering about the other
I'm so here for the Precious Roy 🧦 at the end!! 👍🤣👍
Dark lord Brianna? I dig that, actually
If you're ever looking to do a second episode here are some more Canadian suggestions:
Crown Royal Peach (literally tastes like peach rings)
Wolfhead Coffee (more of a liquer)
Spicebox chocolate (company claims the roots of this lie in prohibition when rye would be put in used cocoa barrels to make it back towards your side of the border)
"It's like working with children." Not "a child," "children." He's onto you "Rex!" At least you didn't fall into the "in a trenchcoat" cliche.
I'm glad you guys did the Knob Creek Smoked Maple. It is my favorite whiskey, and was the first bottle I ever bought myself that I didn't regret. Now I always have a bottle on hand. It is great to have after having like, breakfast for dinner.
Bro when he said the stock was moist I lost it 😂
All right, I'm only 4 1/2 minutes or so into the video and I must take some exception to the mint julep critique.
"Woooooowwwwwww" - Owen Wilson. 😂
We've got all three genders. Black, White and Dark Blue!
I know what I'm talking 'bout!
I like mint juleps. Had one last year thinking it was a mule of some kind. Was made with fresh picked mind from my friend's yard. Seems like the trick is to go fresh and subtle on the mint
That stuff is definitely not for whiskey lovers. Doesn't mean you still can't have fun with it 😆
Peanutbutter whiskey is my new favorite! It stops me from drinking the entire bottle it's so sweet!!!
Not going to lie Chris P. Sock was so funny that I had to buy a pair of 🧦
Their ads move product. My Magic Spoon subscription is proof.
I thought I was like one of the only ones that wasn’t a huge fan of fireball. And I love cinnamon. Also with the Screwball...try adding some to an American stout. The chocolate flavor and peanut butter obviously works. And the sweetness of Screwball is cut a bit by the bitter stout
Well goddamn guys, I'm only a few minutes in and had to stop the video to post...I love mint juleps and eggnog >
you're weird haha
I also felt called out haha
I bought a bottle of that Knob Creek Smoked Maple, not knowing anything about it, and LOVED it. The bottle didn't last long. It really is one hell of a dessert drink.
Strangely, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked matches the flavor profile quite closely. Only it's less sweet and even better.
_"Ok bro, for this entire video I'm going to rub my face, rub my nose, rub the table, rub my hands across my greasy head, write with this marker, handle used bottles AND keep reaching for ice cubes and putting them in your glass, got it?"_
I make mint julep with four roses single barrel, real mint and simple syrup and it is a great cocktail in warm weather
An old fashioned made with the smoked maple knob creek. freaking awesome!
I love Skrewball. Have it on vanilla ice cream. Amazing!!
I just tried Skrewball... dang... that is good. if you want something smooth and like drinking Reeses Pieces...
I’m a sucker for peanut butter tho
that knob creek smoked maple goes great on pancakes and on ur smoked ham.
I tried the Skrewball with iced coffee and it was good. I tried a shot Skrewball with a can of PBR hard coffee and it was amazing. I want to try the Crown Royal.
3 parts JW Red and 1 part Fireball is one of my favorites.
50/50 brandy and peanut butter whiskey is pretty good too.
I enjoy mint juleps, but I don't make mine very minty. I actually prefer a basil smash if I'm in the mood for a julep
Southern Comfort with some Iced Tea, that’s something I would drink for the holidays back in December 2020. That’s a tasty beverage for sure!
I never drink it by itself anymore haha
I'm always a fan of some Fireball mixed with any hard cider.
