I will say this that there is a huge difference between the ultimate trackers when plugged into the pc and when they are plugged into the headset directly. When I use my ultimates with the dongle in the pc yeah they are a little bit of a pain to setup and demand super lit room and what not and there are times when they lose tracking even when youre in a proper lit and open area. I agree on the bed it loses tracking when i would try that. However. when you have an xr elite and plug that dongle directly into the headset its night and day. It uses the headsets camera for room tracking and any and all issues that i had with the dongle plugged into the pc are completely gone. You dont have to do some stupid mapping or have a super bright room. It just works and I havent had any issues with tracking at all regardless of if im dancing laying down on the floor or my bed or doing a hand stand. I know most people would just get the trackers to plug the dongle into the pc and it is a bit of a process that way but if you have an xr elite and plug it into the headset its so much better.
@@TechMaestro01 Thats a great question, I kinda want to try that. I do know this, that when paired with the headset your room doesn't have to be as super bright as it does when you try to use the trackers stand alone. I used to have 4 led bars on my ceiling when i was using the ultimate trackers by themselves but once i paired them with the headset directly i could use my normal ceiling lights which is far less bright. I will try the ir light thing though cause that would be nice for keeping the room darker.

There's one thing ppl don't talk about at all so a bit of a uniqie point of view from me but Ultimate trackers does wonders for me, as a person with disability. I cannot stand for longer than a min or so. For at least 2 years I've been looking for trackers that could allow me to set them up on my own so up to my knowledge that's the only trackers that allows me to do that. No need to stand up while calibrating trackers, only final alignment in vrc. I had the same issues with low light alerts, changing lightbulbs to a stronger ones fully solved that issue for me, made 20 min map once and haven't had to do that ever again. Had a couple other issues straight out of the box but now everything seems to work perfectly fine. Great interview, take care ^^
You do make a great point, also yes lighting is super important for these trackers. I'm hoping they can send me a pair to make more test videos! Stay safe homie🙏🏼
The calibration process on the XR Elite standalone has you look around different points so with that said the tracking is far more accurate on the XR. Makes more sense when they put it in that perspective where it uses the headsets cameras for better tracking. PC isn’t too bad as it is currently in Beta. It still gets the job done. Only time will tell what else is yet to come after it comes out of Beta
For the quest users I hope they add a way to use the quest cameras for tracking, the same way the Xr uses its own cameras, my quest 3 has no issues tracking with only light from my tv and nothing else
Sitting on the fence waiting for the beta to end.. Wanna try and comibne these with slimes. Vive ultiamtes on legs, and slimes upper body.. So My legs wont drift when dancing... but to much to pay just to test.... Thanks for sharing this
This guy seems to understand that it is a BETA and that quality in tracking happens over time. There was an update that made the low lighting thing wayyy better and if you TAKE IT SLOW, your tracking quality won't be much of an issue. He is right about the AI thing and that it can change over time. The area you first setup in will have pretty great tracking, but when you introduce wildly different angles (laying down or whatever) you need to let the trackers stitch it into your current map a couple times, then it works pretty well. A few key things are to have bright and even lighting (rtx off lol) for your initial setup, then you can use IR. Take A LOT of care into the initial setup and know that it has to learn new angles a couple times that weren't shown I'm the setup. After that, it's pretty good and gets better on top of no more occlusion from base stations!
I can confirm the tracking is better using it with Vive XR Elite but I can no longer use that since the flimsy ass modular strap snapped in half after 1 month despite being careful
Admittedly these feel incomplete for 3rd party headsets because that feature is explicitly beta. My biggest complaint (apart from setup) is configuration exists in ethereal space and all you will know is whether or not is broken. The rub is harder problems have been solved so it feels user hostile at this point to have a product so old (in development time) that has one of its most compelling features as a technology (true universal compatibility) this janky.
So the optical tracking is not always better. (Re)mapping work is one of the most annoying side so far i can see. And your room need adjusted for it, so it's not always possible for everyone. I just keep at SlimeVR. Calibration takes much shorter time and i can deal with it. Because 20 minutes remapping can turn thing in more annoying item than good. And the price of 200 each, i think some people just stick with lighthouse system - because remapping for each ultimate is driving you more to nuts. (if you have 5-7 ultimate trackers!!!) And question is too why Oculus/Meta tracking does better job? Because they have more experience with it than HTC.
I agree they have many things ATM that just make them pretty damn annoying! Hopefully they can get updated! And good point with the fact Vive just has less tracking experience.
Thanks for your comment! By definition, a review involves evaluating a product's features and performance. I interviewed an actual user to provide accurate insights and firsthand experience. According to the updated definition of 'review': 'a critical appraisal of a product, performance, or service,' this still counts. ❤️

I do not like it because they do not work in low light or with occlusion (if you use a blanket or other object in the top of the trackers). I mean that you can turn off the lights of your room at night and probably you're gonna need an infrared light to make it work with low light.
