@@lisaroot4798Thank you so much Lisa, so sweet off you,was lovely seeing you again, sure to see you both again soon, have a lovely week ❤
Holy Toledo!!!!!! The spiders 🕷😳😫😬😩 Design of wall behind stove is beautiful.
does it ever end 😂
I liked the first one . So that’s it , Decision DONE ! No more messing about 😊 . Spiders all over my Garden too at the moment , you keep walking into Webs where ever you go . I think the neighbours must think Ive lost the plot , walking down the garden path with my arms flapping about in front of me .
I really liked the first one though now thinking mat be very hard to clean. supposedly its spider breading season...oh well it will be winter soon and they will all run away fingers crossed 😂😂
Well Chaps - The copper was a GREAT Find - Looks good in every mock-up - If there's enough left over you couls make a nice square back-plate for the ceiling so that your chimney could bass through it, look cool 😎 and maybe even help it pass 'The TEST!' ..... I like the all grey n copper version Meself 🤠
yes we will be having something on the ceiling...and the hole needs to largeness too, its getting colder so we need to get this done sharpish haha thanks for your comment , the grey and copper looks great
Here’s an idea I wud run a course of them 4 inch greens round the top then put 12 inch of slate underneath then another green course in then slate down to the bottom then put the copper above the greens up to the roof and slate the sides I reckon that box is a power unit ecoflow or the orange one .have a top week and Chris remember spiders are our mates 🙂🔧🎸✌️
thats a lovely idea actually...really like that. owwwww people are getting close haha have a lovely week Lee
Luv the copper idea good look with the project oh my on the spiders I would be a mile or two away tc both till next time the oldies 🤗🤗🌺🤗🌷
its spider breading season weve been told.....scary stuff. have a fantastic week lovelies ❤️
Im with Becks the grey looked awesome. A good contrast to the black slate. At home we have a slate hearth with stove on top. Looks great, but does loose colour a little. But top tip, if you rub a little baby oil on it it comes up a treat!
We also have irregular level tiles on the back and side, and don't have an issue with keeping it clean, though it would be much roomier than the small space on the boat.
Aww thanks! It's so difficult trying to envision it all!! So many possibilities!!!
That's an amazing tip, thanks so much for sharing! We will definitely remember that!
I have to go with the white tiles, as with Chris’s fear of spiders, any dark colours will just hide the little creatures! However I’m sure you’ll choose what you like that’s the Crobot way, the only way to be, especially in your cozy home. I do like the spider sucker thingy, never seen one before! 17:40 😊
I like the first design
Don't squish the spiders because all the relative's will show up for the wake...
good point 😂
Okay seeing them in the bathroom reminded me of the bathroom scene from Arachnophobia. There was 50 million of them going down their silk threads moving towards Jeff Danieles.
It's mad isn't it?? im slowly getting used to the little buggers...the problem is all the big ones come out at night...and they love me for some reason...haha they can smell the fear
Hi Chris and Becks. Like the copper and green tiles together. Just go with your gut feeling. Loads of those spiders about this year. Take care. Nick
It's breeding season 😂😂 the green and copper looks great thanks Nick for the comment 👍
Agree to agree on those Spider's.
whats there problem?? haha
Loved the fireplace with the black slate looked good against the copper. Stunning 😊😊
Thanks so much Tina 🥰 I think we may be onto a winner there. Hope you're both ok! Xx
@@TheNomadicCrobot hi becca & Chris we're good thanks just been asked to decorate the interior of a narrow boat the owner came to our boat liked it and has offered to pay us to do his boat. Very excited to start 🤞 could be the start of something good. Xx don't know if your aware but when you put your stove back in the chimney needs to be double skinned they ask for it on boat safety certificate it's to stop the outside getting too hot. X 😊
Oh wow that's such a great compliment to you 🥰 How exciting! You always share such great advise with us so I can only imagine how wonderful your boat looks and why others would want a slice so to speak! I hope it goes well. Thanks so much for this, we were pretty shocked as how unsafe it was when we starting dismantling it so it's gonna get a good overhaul. We have been trying to wrap our heads around the requirements for the BSS too as it's all so confusing so that really helps, thank you! B xx
Maverick is great. The world needs more gingers!
the man is a legend
I try using a backing of shiny alluminium or stainless steel behind my burners to deflect the infra-red heat back into the boat/bus/truck. Ally is the best at deflecting infra-red heat apparently rather than absorbing it and having a hot wall and cold space. you can buy the shiny crimpled looking stuff that bends easily to use quite cheap and it works well. the shinier it is the better it deflects infra red heat.
Ooh wow this is a great tip, thanks so much 😊
Something about boats attracts spiders! Ours is a leisure boat and if we don’t go for a week or so they are everywhere. You can buy a spider deterrent spray, we spray it around our stern canopy it seems to work a bit. X
its weird isn't it...Bex tells me its the perfect place for them, warm and damp, I really never knew it would be this bad...just have to get on with it now 😂😂 have fun on your adventures x
BSS check 8.4.1 Are appliances and surrounding surfaces clear of signs of heat damage.
That's your answer for the flue where it meets the timber linings
👍
Thanks for confirming this, we will need to sort that out sharpish 👍
Definitely liking the copper along with the jagged slate tiles - They look great IMHO
Thanks, we love the copper idea...lets hope it scrubs up ok

haha brilliant Vik....I think I need some lessons
Hi Maverick. Love the gray. I was thinking slate on the floor with the green subway tile on the wall but you put it up and I don’t like it now but I do like the gray ones. That copper really makes it eh. We had big white tiles in our bathroom with green subway tiles, just one line of the green, looked great but there wasn’t a lot of them. I reckon those little mixed slate tile might date it as they’ve been around forever, I think I saw a photo of them in the bathroom of the ark. This is fun. Take care guys see you soon. 💕
the grey is awesome, though we may opt for black slate tires now at the back...far easier to clean. Bex has done it again with her copper hunt bless her. iv actually never seen them before but yes becca feeling the same about the multi coloured slate, thanks for comment and have a lovely week
the image at 16 mins looked great, simple and elegant. RE: spiders, you can buy an anti spider spray which you could use around your doors and windows. Its a repellent, so not a killer spray
I think they are supposed to hate peppermint oil ....I would get the hoover and go bow to stern and hoover up every damn one...then wash the boat in peppermint. Its worse now as its spider season...Late August up to November the place is crawling with them. I have one at the moment outside my kitchen window and its huge...I live in a new build now and still find them inside now and then at this time of year....straight in a glass and out the window. They have their place in the eco system. But not in your house....
@@Simon-xc5oy spiders found in a house (house spiders) die if put outside
Well....erm...not sure on that. A spider is a spider. What did they do before we built houses? They come in to find places to over winter or lay eggs etc...they will go where ever they wish. How does a "House Spider" catch food? Spin a web and then hope someone lets in enough "House Flies" to catch a good meal? I am not making fun of you here...just curious to know how the thinking works. What about the "Boat Spiders" ? ?They got on the boat from the undergrowth and side of the canal etc. What about the "Shower Spiders" ?? They are outside and go into the shower as its warm and moist and they can get in the cracks etc and hide....the problem is the wood and crevices....It attracts them. Since moving into a new build home some years back I have found way less spiders inside, and no ants etc get in either....simply because there are no gaps for them to get in by...and modern materials, plastics and good seals on the doors and windows make it impossible for them to break and enter...so to speak. I have plenty in the garden though...doing their thing and that is fine by me...as long as they stay there in nature where they belong....
@@Simon-xc5oy Spiders evolved. Maybe they lived in caves but made the move to houses long ago. Not joking, google it. House spiders released back into the garden or outside will generally die within 24 hours if they dont find it to shelter
iv tried quite a few different one, but they keep coming back, maybe once we have a clearer more livable boat they will run off to the next grubby boat??? fingers crossed anyway haha
Perhaps some copper on the ceiling around the hole to stop it burning the wood around the edges of pipe on the ceiling?
we do have a plan for the celling but great little idea, love it
The green, copper and slate one is best. I got slates, like roof slates, and used them for under the stoves. they come in various shades of blue/green/grey and you should be able to get them from salvage yards. Main thing is to have the area easy to clean the stove is dusty and any ledges, dimples are going to hold the ashes and dust. To clean I start with flue brush with stiff plastic brush, the on the inside of stove and boiler the copper piping. Think about fire resistant backing to get rid of the pine behind as tiles don't stop the wood getting hot and of course copper will heat up. The hole in the ceiling needs to be bigger there are standard distances set, not sure if UK is same as Ireland but they will have a set distance from flue to combustible surface. Also, google your stoves manual that will give the distances. Copper is going to look fab will match in well with kitchen taps and shelves. It would look good actually on top of the hearth wrapped around the wall at stove height- like a splash back. Its going to look great.
thats interesting, I think becca is quite Keane on the green, did you now the statue of liberty was copper before it turned to green...how cool. exactly...you want to make it as east as you can so a flat surface would probably be the best. we have actually just picked up special fire boards...having it safe is our number 1 priority...and the maverick did say he would make the ceiling one larger for us. Thanks for your lovely comment
We like the multi color stone look.
We both really liked that until we held it up against the wood and we both thought it clashed too much because of the yellow tones it had in it. Such a shame as it's lovely x
Love the cooper look and know what ever you choose will turn out great. What a score on finding the cooper it’s usually so expensive in America. I do love the green tile also. Feel bad for Chris with the spiders I’m that way and worse with snakes. My son has a pet spider as long as it’s stays in the aquarium I’m ok with it. Maybe get a bearded dragon it would eat the spiders.? Looking forward to seeing the outcome. Susan
Im sure Bex will come up with something crafty bless her, its quite expensive over here to so what a great find. oh god that sounds terrifying...what if he escapes one day?? thanks so much Susan have a lovely week
He did once the heat lamp burned a spot he fit out of. My son noticed the cat was watching something on the wall it was the spider! He put it back and taped shut the opening. He also has a large bearded dragon that loves to sleep on him and next to the cat? I enjoy watching them I just don’t touch either of them. Best wishes, susan
Go for the green hexagon tiles!!!! 💚
They were really lovely! It's so hard to choose!!
The copper looks great, but bear in mind what a good conductor of heat it is.
we have heard that...we would have to make sure there's something there to protect the walls, one thing seams to lead to another, madness 😂😂
@@TheNomadicCrobot you could always put some vermiculite behind it.
Oh those spiders 🕷️!!!😱😱 That copper is going to look gorgeous behind the fire! You’ve got some brilliant ideas Becks. You guys are going to have a floating palace before long. And I can’t wait to see what’s inside those boxes. Huge hugs and wishes.

what a terrifying place to try and make home Estelle?? haha great idea about the copper...why did I ever doubt Bex. a floating palace...were we will be slaves to the evil crawlies...take care and have a lovely week love to you all xxx

@@TheNomadicCrobot spiders are not my friend… nor Chris’s 😂
Hi Becca, Chris, I'm with Chris, I can't stand Spiders. I heard on the news this week, that it is Spider breeding season. All the potential Daddy Spiders come indoors to the warmth to find the potential Mummy Spiders, and the rest is nature. Good to see The Maverick together with his 2 Mini Mavericks. I liked the way Chris tackled the chimney. Well done to everyone for getting the stove out. Liking the way you are choosing your new tiles. Loving Becca's mock-ups on the Lap Top (they are fantastic). You both have so many hidden talents. Finally, "The Dramatic Music", what a joy to hear it. Another amazing, entertaining, well edited and fabulous Vlog. Thank you very much. Spoolbox.
Im slowly getting better with the crawlies...becca just doest care ...how she does it I dont no, that doesn't surprise me there's tones of them on the boat this week. Was lovely to have the Maverick down...hes so handy. Thank you so much for enjoying the adventure... some ask will the DIY ever end 😂😂 have a lovely week
Maverick has returned with mini mavericks in tow 🤭🥰💕🥳 like the last choice of tiles - the cream and black floor tiles and grey background copper really sets it off. Good luck deciding 🤭👍🏾
What a lovely bunch they all are, yes I think the last choice is probably what were going to go with now, watch this space, thank you so much ❤️
Really like the look of the copper on the top portion. If you decide to do a hammer finish on the copper, remember that it work hardens. It can easily be annealed (softened) by applying heat from a torch. It should be cleaned with a pickling solution.
Ooh thanks so much for this James! That's really useful to know. I read that lemon and baking power are a good way to clean it up so I was gonna give that a go! 😂
Cleaning the copper with lemon and baking powder might work but vinegar and baking soda might be better. If it's just for visual appeal, clean it and seal it and you'll be good to go. If you play on doing any attachments like soldering on edging or whatnot, it needs to be chemically clean.
Yes, or use a car polisher, one of the rotary ones. Clean it as spotless as you can, then use...Car T Cut. rotary polish of some kind, hire one if you have to, and it will go so shiny you can see your face in it. Then you can either just keep it polished or treat it to stop it going dull. Copper is lovely and goes to an interesting finish if left....but if you polished it...think of it..its like gold and it reflects all the light...imagine the fire light flickering on a winters eve reflected in it...and the heat will go straight back into the room....its a good idea.....@@TheNomadicCrobot
Put conkers round the boat.. spiders don’t like them😊 bril progs... is there another Becks somewhere...what a first mate😊
I actually just tried that recently and it does seam to work though I dont want to speak to soon
Love the copper from ceiling to floor. Also, really like copper when you make or let it change to have green tint. Love watching your videos. PS: I also hate, hate, hate spiders.
Ahh it's so beautiful when it takes on those tones isn't it. I'm going to have a play around and see what I can do! Aww I get why people don't like them but poor things get such a bad rep!
Forgot to add that I think the copper top to floor makes your ceiling/room taller and more spacious. Your walls are already cut in half with chair railing height wood. Whatever you pick I'm sure will be gorgeous.
Oh man youve moved your boat so alot harder to have a chat with you now when we walk past. Still it makes sense as its easier for you to get in and out of the marina. Your getting closer to your dream of continuous crusing, we would like to take you for a pint before you set sail ❤
sorry 😂😂 were going to have to shout at each other now 😂 it will be fun to see how leaving and returning to the marina will go. we are getting close...another winter on the way..we'd love to join for a pint before we set sail, thanks so much for the offer ❤️
When you're like # 420...😏
I gotta say I'm with Chris & The Maverick on tile selection, I'm a sucker for rustic.
EDIT: Just saw Bex renderings. I like the copper strip up the middle, and it will tie in with your other copper you have on the vessel.
I gotta get me one of those bug suckers!
exactly 😂 I love the rustic look...I do think it could look a bit to brown though with all the sides, the copper is going to be a great addition if we (Bex) can pull it off, yeah I could do with a mega sucker 😂
Lavender is good for keeping away thr critters 😊😊😊
Thank you will defo try this one
The first or second diagram look very nice to me - that dark grey textured brick with the copper Have you already considered how the colour accents for this fireplace might carry through the rest of the boat ? Copper, stained natural wood and green tiles around the kitchen area and shower might look nice in the future. Cheers!
we do want to have different area on the boat so thats one reason we may stay away from the green tiles...as we already have that ready for the bathroom, thank you so much for your ideas
The long narrow tiles with little steps will catch all the dust when you clean out the fire it will never look clean you want a tile that you can wipe clean.
That's a very good point, well said Doug 😀👍👍
Like the black with copper centre and green on each side (not the black and white check) sometimes less is more. Going to look awesome by the time you set off cruising 🥱🤣🤣🤣❤
Aww thanks for sharing your thoughts, it's so hard trying to get the balance right! Hopefully we will work something out. I'm dreaming about tiles at the moment! I'm sure I'm driving Chris mad! 😂
I literally did this , tiles and copper behind, and used a water tank to make it… folded the edges round a piece of cs board for even more bss gold stars
Ahhh this makes me happy as that's exactly what I was thinking of doing too! I'm lucky Chris lets me run with my mad ideas!!! 😂
@@TheNomadicCrobot loads and loads of salt and vinegar to clean the copper and then I took the sheet ( cut from the cylinder) to a metal shop who super neatly folded the edges and it looks epic.. not sure how I can share a pic though
Oh wow this sounds amazing!! I'd love to see. You could email us if you had a spare moment!?!? 😆 I'm off to buy a load of lemons tomorrow as I heard salt and lemon is a good way to clean copper up too!!!

Congrats on the collab with the PLLVV 😉
Really funny episode guys and loving the copper!!
Thanks Guys, is it bad to be very excited?? gotta take what we can get 😂😂 safe journeys...so jealous of your adventures x
Could use a chicken to clean the flue 🙈
Think the black and copper looks stunning
Hahaha!!! That would be freaking amazing!!! 😂 Chimney sweep chicken!! Thanks, we like that too 😊
Hi guys Best spider solver would be to get a pet gecko they will munch spiders flies all day without touching or having to remove any spiders just put sid the gecko in your hand move near a spider and watch that tongue action solve your spider problem
that a great idea....and Christmas is on the way...you know what im asking for haha
you opening a tile shop on your boat lol,
now there's an idea 😂😂
Love your videos guys - the coppers a great idea, looks nice and warm xx
thank you for your comment ❤️
Although the brand could be one or the other , i reckon the collab. is a power bank and solar panel . But im gueesing the one that starts with E .
owwwww very close
How about using a tone of orange, like fall color on the back wall around the firebox
We both love this shade but when we compare it to the wood it just doesn't look right which is a big shame 😥
Looking forward to see what you decided. Best wishes, Deb
Thank Deb, there's so much to choose from, its so hard 😂😂 have a lovely week
Copper top to bottom, and then personally I would go with either slate or green tiles up the wall (black and copper just go)
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. It really is a minefield. Probably the hardest decision we've had to try make on the boat so far 😂
Heres a top tip for you Chris, little handheld vac to catch the spiders, works a treat,i have mine ready on the side lol
that seams the way to go haha...they dont like sucking up the larger ones though😂😂
You could cut away a square of the wooden ceiling around the chimney and then replace it with a new copper sheet with fire safe cement boarding behind it. This would protect the ceiling from the heat from the chimney and match with the copper you are putting on the wall behind the chimney pipe 😉 slate and copper goes really well together with the wood you have already installed 😉👌🏻🤗
This is a great idea! Thanks so much for suggesting it. I'm gonna have a play around and see what I can come up with and how much copper we have too! ❤️
@@TheNomadicCrobot plus you can switch the colours within copper with either heating it, etching, embossing, and finely sanding it or letting it patina to create different finishes whenever you get bored 😉( see if you can find an old copper tank to cut up for extra copper sheeting as I know you enjoy upcycling 🤓) 🤗🤗
There not false widow spiders! 😂 there orb web spiders! Very common in the Uk and totally harmless 👍😁
I love and Orb weaver, I'm not sure Chris agrees!!! 😂
The tiles with irregular levels look good BUT they will be a nightmare to keep clean especially next to the fire - a smooth finish would be best
yes you may be right, something a bit smoother would probably be better, Thanks Dave
Totally agree.
@@TheNomadicCrobot You can seal them which will make them easier to clean, and it's not such a terrible job anyway as long as you can reach behind the stove with a brush.
Also the design means they'd have to get seriously dirty before they actually look dirty.
The copper will look great at the top. My thoughts would be if you are going with the slate then do the base in a lighter colour or the black/white tiles. This would give a contrast as the stove is dark and the slate is dark and it would all just blend in.
Thanks so much for your thoughts Gary. Yeah I totally agree. It needs to be balanced with a lighter colour so I think this is probably what we will do! Watch this space!!!
So many nice tiles, it's really hard to choose. I actually like the 'frog' coloured ones, but they do look a lot like Victorian subway tiles. The last thing you need to do i to make a reference to travel below the surface.
And then, there are the spiders. Tricky thing is, it's hard to know if one of them has been gnawing at your brain, because, well, how would you know? The little buggers may have eaten that particular memory, so without that particular little bit of grey matter, you can't tell the difference.
If you guys get any more posh, you'll have to rebrand as Les Crobottes. Has a certain cache.
It really is isn't it!! Plus trying to visualise them all fully in place too is so hard! Haha!! That's a very good point!
Hahahah!!! This is brilliant. I definitely reckon they've been gnawing away at Chris's brain a bit, trying to bring him round to their way of thinking!!
Les Crobottes...how very fancy! 😂🤣😂
Love your plan, take a load of samples, steal them all and do a mish mash
now thats a good idea haha patch work fire place aye??
I call those big spiders in the showers “face huggers” cos I literally walked straight into a web with one in it! Wasn’t a particularly pleasant experience! 😱Traumatised for life! 🤣 I still think they’re good though, I’d never harm one, so I do the same as yourselves and catch the wee buggers in a glass and put outside to live another day! 🕷️
And, oh, god, I’d be useless at choosing the tiles, but that’s because I’m so indecisive! 🤔😂 I’m pretty sure though, that whatever you finally choose, it’ll look as stunning as the rest of the boat!
Take care lovely pair! 😘🌻❤️
we had a big harvest one on there the other night...a proper face hugger haha I wonder how many of these run ins im going to have...probably a weekly thing. That's the good thing about a Bex...she can choose the tiles for you haha...im not the best tile picker , thank you so much, have a lovely week ❤️
The false widows are complete harmless. We have no harmful spiders in the UK.
Though I share the spider phobia, so wouldn't want any of them inside with me.
This is what I say, I know there have been many people who have suffered nasty injuries from their bites but from what I understand it's not from them as such but the bacteria they may have on their fangs that go on to cause nasty infections in those that are bitten by them. However not always. Haha! I'm sure you're not alone there!!!
Hello you good people at Crowbot boat builders & spider central, Wot! No poll to vote for colours? Green looks fabbydabbydozy. 😃
I know we should have made a poll really, will be sure to do one next time that would have been fun
You guys may want to consider some around the flute from the stove on the ceiling.
Hmm its is difficult. I do like the copper. I am wondering if one could take it up around the flute on the ceiling, cutting it round, or some, then dropping it down behind the stove way you guys showed it. That way ur eye moves when lookong at it& it become a cool focal point.
As much as I think the slate or fake slate would look smashing for the bottom portion, I wouldnt cause is rough& thus dust from the stove would stick to it like cling film, making any cleaning attempts a chore. It also may attract webs due to the clingyness of that type of stone.
On the side of said copper deffo smooth tiles. Maybe nothing shiny as it would take away from the copper. I do like the vinegar treated copper look w a tile that compliments the color scheme after the copper is treated. It varies a lil, so I prob would treat the copper first, then take it in to that awesome tiles store. It makes it a lil easier to envision, as they may have the tiles you like in the back room. Thus u could lay the copper on the ground, and the tiles around them, to make sure this will look exactly how u want it. If its not u can change it to a different set. As said any color that the copper brings out with that treatment will look amazing.
Bringing the copper to the store also means you dont have to drive back and forth & you get a bit more of a completed look to envision it easier.
I prob would consider only doing colored tiles on the side of the copper, that as said compliment it, then go for a more muted tone for the bottom. Otherwise it may be a lil much for such a small space. It all depends upon how the finished boat will look like& what your preferences are. Some ppl love loads of color everywhere. I deffo would not do a 2-tone of any kind on the bottom. You'd totally take away the copper focal point, and that be sad. It also would make that area a lil 2 busy. But again, u guys may like that look.
Okies that was nearly enough out off me.
Reg the spiders. If u look online, u will find diff oils etc u can use that critters (flying &none flying) dont like. Dont forget to add a base oil, and then put it in a spray bottle and spray it everywhere but esp around windows &areas they can come in from. U can also just buy certain type of wood (might be cedar etc)& sand them a lil to make em smell again, then place them everywhere around the boat, heck even ur bed if u like. Some ppl swear by that. U just have to re-sand them from time to time to bring the smell back out. It also keeps moths etc away. Google it& u will find loads of ideas that work better than ur lil anti spider vac. ;)
Anyways here is to ur next video. Oh & seeing the size of the box from ur sponsor, I am gonna go with some type of a generator Company & in the 2nd package are the solar pannels. If true, well done! They can be a real life savor!
Okay, now enough.
Take care u2!
thats interesting thanks for your input, we will be enlarging the hole in the roof and adding a new part on the inner roof, I cant think for the life of me what the name of it is now. it looks like we may go for a smooth slate now..so easy to clean...but a bit heavy...but we do need to weigh that side of the boat down anyway haha Bex is going to test the vinegar theory so fingers crossed it works out. thanks you so much for your ideas all very very great... I think we will probably add a fine ply to the upper walls and then paint them but we havent quite made up our minds yet...the main thing is keeping to the safety regulations. whatever I try the spiders keep coming back . thank you so much for your message...and your not to far off on what out sponsor idem is, take care
The green tiles are nice but if you want dark, the irregular ones look much better with the stove.
My first choice for tiles would be the grey ones though.
Love the idea of copper! I'd do the whole thing in copper, maybe mix hammered and smooth?
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, it's so mind boggling trying to figure out in your head what would work best! We did think about doing the whole thing in copper but the only thing is we think it needs another contrast between the copper and the wooden wall because the colours will be too similar. We will keep thinking though xx
@@TheNomadicCrobot I think it could look fab with slate floor or even the frog tiles(!), hammered copper surround and then smooth copper plate behind the flue. You could add green patina to the hammered part and keep the smooth one polished.
And if it feels too samey - add a pop of colour around it, like in the last (or was it previous to last) visualisation!
I can't post a link here but if you search for Amoretti Brothers and go to materials& finishings there, they have a nice gallery of different finishes for copper.
Good job you used a "Bonnie Tyler", cos it saved all that "Heartache, nothing but a Heartache" 😆. I'll get me coat 😉
Hahaha!!!!! Excellent punnage!!
I liked the second day rectangle sample board tiles in the way they change colour but are the same tones. You could do the copper at the top and the sage wall colour would go with the tiles. I didn’t like the solid black too dark. ❤
Ooh that's a good idea, we hadn't even considered that! It's so hard to choose with so many lovely tiles. Also trying to blend it all in with the surrounding wood tones too. Thanks for your suggestion x
I like those long thin tiles too, but the ones that are all different colours...no. It just ends up looking a mess, like you cant decide which one to use. And its all over the place...I tried in in one of my rooms, and got a couple of packs as a trial and stood them up on the wall all together and it just looks....well...like a child has been let loose in a bag of tiles and just jammed any old colour all over. I know its all down to taste and arty and all the arguments for....but sometimes less it more. Make the stove the focal point, clean it, paint it with heat proof paint and do the copper back and go for plain tiles that are not screaming LOOK AT MEEEEE!!! all the time.....
Great video guys. Cant wait to see whats in the boxes. Power Station with solar panels?? 🤷♂️ Love the copper idea for the fireplace. Looking forward to seeing it completed. 😊
hmmmmm....interesting
Yes guys 🎉🎉
Thank you 😊
Thanks
Thank you so much, we really appreciate it ❤️❤️
You are right up there with foxes afloat and ben and emily❤
Thanks for enjoying the videos Simon, what a lovely compliment ❤️
@@TheNomadicCrobot thats what you get from your no.1 fan ✨️
I have had a 🕷️🕷️ phobia since early childhood. I made my partner Ripcord our doors and windows. No more home invasions from spiders etc.😊
I suppose im just going to have to learn to love the horrid little things😂😂
Sing Burning down the house while installing an uninsulated chimney next to stuff that burns - a thru wall ring keeps a 5 cm air gap between wood & pipe with holes for airflow - not doing so could make your next of kin very happy while cashing a life insurance check - don't worry I will not tell the safety inspectors on you -
Absolutely! We were pretty horrified to see how poorly the fire had been installed. Don't worry we are fully on safety proofing the whole thing. No life insurance cheques will be being cashed any time soon hopefully!
Grey all day!
owwwww....maybe
Did you know Spiders are like homing pigeons…..they always return to where there caught….🤣🤣🤣
Noooooooo 😂😂😂
@15:58 is my fave.
thanks for your contribution ❤️
Forgot to say - You can get those Spider-Bombs that you leave smouldering in yer boat while you both go for a Frolick in the Wilderness one day ... Come back - They've ALL scarpered 😎 .... Then run a Chalk-Line all around the outside of yer boat ... they HATE Chalk .... Honestly ..... 🤠
woaw the spider Bomb sounds like a fantastic idea ...count me in
Good luck trying to suck up a Huntsman spider with your Serene Life PSL ibv20. A huntsman gets up to 15cm in length (and width.
that bliming huntsman 😭😭
coolvid thanks lee
cheers Lee
Be careful with copper guys. One of the properties of copper is the ability to store heat, that is why soldering irons and high class saucepans are made of copper. You need something behind the stove to reflect the heat not store it.
we will be putting fire proof boarding behind the copper, I wonder if the idea of alot of these fire places is to have copper there to create a warmer environment??
toilet brush tied to a pole happy days
Ooh great suggestion!!!
That flue pipe looked well dodgy. Usually it goes through a roof collar but i couldn't see one on your roof?
Exactly our thoughts!! The stove area will be getting a much required safety upgrade!
Fantastic! I thought your project was finished when you fixed the floor and walls.
But so wrong!
I wonder why you don't show your sailor, third man onboard, who must be the one who are always looking for faults?
Haha!!! Oh no there's always plenty more to do!!! Well we need to keep him well hidden you see! There might be a backlash otherwise! 😂
Somebody has been playing Musical Boats methinks 🤔,definitely better for you guys getting out, especially without having a Bow Thruster.
I would probably go with the Plain Slate on the Base ( easier to keep clean) and the Green on the Wall behind with the Copper Strip behind the Chimney flue, the Green because the copper eventually gets a little bit of a green tinge ( patina ) anyway 🤷♂️.
I think the thing that would help a lot with reducing the spiders is giving the Boat a Good Clean and cleaning every week, spiders prefer things that are left alone and they don’t like the smell of a lot of the shampoo you can use for cleaning products on cars and boats !.
I would recommend you buying one of those portable steam cleaners ( Worx ) make them I believe ? You can either connect them to a Hose or you can use a Large Bottle that screws on and obviously I would imagine they come with accessories for spraying on water solvable detergent ( safe/legal for going into the canal ).
That and a long handle cleaning brush.
Don’t know if you have any reclaimed building supplies places around St.Neots way but there is one out Cambridgeshire way ( outside Sawston/Pampisford on the A505 ) and they have a lot of Old fashioned type Tiles that used to be used for Fireplaces. They probably have burnished Copper sheets as well but that wouldn’t be cheap, shame you didn’t keep your old Water tank cos you could have cut that up ! Maybe Maverick could find you a couple of them ?.
Another Great Video ❤
well spotted, now we can leave the marina a bit more ease fingers crossed. Thanks for your input, All great points. yes its hard to stay on top of the clean when there's so much diy going on, the hatches dont help ether. Thanks for all your tips...woaw...will certainly be giving a few of them a go.Yes we thought we should have probably kept the old tank...silly really. oh woaw will look into the reclaimed building supplies...sounds very handy . Thank you so much for your comment ❤️
Did you not know that spiders make their own way back from where they were removed. A bit like snails. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
And boomerangs!? 😂😂😂
Spray wd49 round windows and doors no spiders
Ooh that stuff has so many different uses!!! Thanks so much 😊
You, Becca, and The Wondering Wombat are not just some meagre run of the mill Posh, y’all are “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” kinda of POSH…
exactly....I like that....Chitty Chatty bang bang posh 😂😂
Anything but GREEN! I had green tiles in a house I bought 26 years ago. In the kitchen. Exactly like those you are looking at. They were AWFUL! There is nothing wrong with them when you look at them, or a single one. But all of them together on a wall like that..its too much. It looks dated no matter what year it is. Think of those horrid olive green bathroom suites you used to get in the 70s. Grey is really in now, but will end up dated. However you cant ever go wrong with slate as the hearth. If it was me, I would do a natural plain cream / buff stone colour hearth, and something similar in tiles on the wall. Polish the copper up as much as you can and it will reflect the light and brighten the room. Lastly, if it was me again, I would paint all that brown / pine wood white or cream or limed oak. Something lighter to brighten the room. I know what Becks means about colour in the place, but the colour outside is in the world, the canals and where you are. In a small space like a narrow boat , go for plain, light colours as it makes it feel less claustrophobic, bigger and more open...and you can see the spiders coming and deal with them....
haha I said the same, they reminded me of bathroom tiles, haha thats so funny Simon..thankfully were not doing green. it looks like were going slate behind the fire now as its easy to clean and looks very posh. we will be painting the walls white but keeping g the top parts wooden though thats a great point about the spiders...they can hide to easily in the wood. I think we both like the cabin in the wood feel of it, thanks so much for your comment
Have I missed an episode you've changed moorings
well done for noticing, no we just moved it around quickly while we had time, now we can leave the marina much much easier....well we will see anyway when we take it out in the next weeks
Get some sandwood oil squirt it around spiders hate it no spiders💯🕷🕸🕷
That sounds like an awesome idea Thanks Brian
If he's verified, does he have like a check mark next to his body that follows him around like in a cloud?
haha brilliant
🕷️🕷️🕷️🕷️🕷️🕷️
So in a full week you’ve ripped a stove out and found a piece of copper….. bloody hell guys you’ll never go cruising at this rate.
Haha! No we've done a lot more than that!!! 😂🤣😂
I get so many spiders on my boat. Why? They have to search out my boat then climb the rope then tell their mates where i live. Whats wrong with the rest of the world. Why boats? 😂😂
This is what I hear Will. There's quite a complex spider network spreading far and wide amongst the boat and household world at present. Their communication ability is unrivalled. Amazing for such small beasties really.... 😂🤣😂 🕷️☎️
🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷
why do they keep coming back??
Cruel Dave Cruel 😃
Mahoosive 😂🤣😂🤣
hahaaaa
Make sure that the boards behind the old tiles is the correct stuff should be heat resistant. The tiles on the base need to be firmly fixed so they do not crack when refitting the stove and drilling then to secure stove. As for the spiders is he really cut out for this boat life 😂
Thanks
so kind of you, Thank you so much, so generous of you ❤️❤️
