Wet Toyota Floorboard FIX -Matrix-Vibe-Corolla-Camry

  • I have been having issues with my passenger side floor being wet and I set out to find out why. Looks like the AC hose was lose and the water was just pooling up in the floor. If you have water in the floor of your Toyota Corolla or Matrix in the summer time, its probably water coming from the air conditioner. The water is meant to go down the little black tube under the glove box but instead it goes into the floorboard. The solution is simple. Replace the black hose that the water drains from. Then pull the drain plugs on the bottom of the car to let the water out of the floor.
I hope this helps! It sure is annoying.

I'm having a similar issue but it's not leaking from that hose I checked, it's coming from closer to behind the glove box, any ideas?

    • @elnosworld9893

Well thank you I appreciate it because now it’s actually leaking even when I turn my heat on but basically I was using my defrost and I was putting my temperature at low and then just using the fan which acted very much like the air conditioner even though it wasn’t turning Aceon
And all of a sudden it just started pouring water everywhere especially when I turn either to the left or the right like it’s just dumping and emptying out on my carpet so the front and the back is completely wet and this has been going on for at least a week or two
Which of course in the long term is going to be a real problem if I don’t get it taken care of so I had actually contacted in a guy who does some mechanical work for me and he said that it had something to do with my condenser but I think maybe the problem is exactly what you were having but I’ll have to look at it during daytime hours
Hopefully I’ll be able to clear this problem up as soon as possible
I happen to live in my car I’ve been living in my car for seven years and I have a 2015 Toyota Corolla
So it might’ve been leaking a lot longer than I was aware of because I have a box or did have a box in the back floorboard on the passenger side that was covered in mold underneath and two years ago I ended up in the hospital in ammonia so that might’ve been the problem is that all this time it’s been leaking it just got really bad recently that enough to notice her
Makes it really hard when you have to defrost your windows and all you hear is trickling of waters like somebody turn the faucet on low as soon as you put the heat on

The ENTIRE floorboard of a family member's 2000 Camry has been sopping wet on and off for a while. We've had no rain for 2 weeks, so it isn't the windshield or sunroof. We watched this video. Hey man i know I'm about a decade late but this just help me out so much. I was getting wet carpets on both the passenger and driver stuff and every time I turned i could hear the water. I reconnected the hose just now. I popped off the passenger side rubber seal and it dripped a little like in the video but when i popped off the driver side one it immediately started draining and i rolled from under the car with the biggest smile. Thanks so much. I have been plagued by this problem the last few months with my 2012 Camry SE. Both front passenger and rear passenger were completely soaked with 3/4" of water. Thought maybe at first I let my windows down or it was leaking from the sunroof. At first when I watched your video I went out and ran my AC full blast for about 15 mins to see if it was dripping down from beneath the car. Sure enough, no water was dripping from the AC drain line! I pulled back the front passenger side flooring and sure enough, there it was. The hose was completely out of the rubber grommet.I shoved it back in and put some RTV silicone around it, hopefully it will stay in place now. I had to tear out all the sound dampening material from under the carpeting, now just waiting for it to dry. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

Only other thing I could think is there's an occasional defect in the rubber of that portion and forceful blowing tears open the defect like a valve.

thanks it worked, figure I saved $100 to $150, thanks! I had to drive mine for about 10 minutes b4 my vsc, trac , and ck engine light came off, after I cleared the blockage of my condensation tube, the line drained almost a quart of water, I heard it sloshing around behind the dash in the evaporator area. I also had a wet carpet passenger side and had to unblock the a/c condensation line, I just had to peel the carpet back next to the console, it was blocked more where the hose emptied to the ground, probably a bug nest? 2010 toyota matrix, also a button under the dash at steering wheel to cut off the remote air pressure system I think. The obs port is nx to the hood release pull in the lower part of the plastic dash, it says obs but is hard to see unless you are looking for it. I might paint the recessed letters (obs) in red or white so easier to see.

Once you pull the two black rubber seals from the bottom. Cut a 1”x5” strip of cloth, insert 3 inches of each cloth inside each of the two holes & trap the inserted part under the floor’s wet pad. Let the remaining part of the cloth hang down from the hole & see it draining the water out & dripping it out on the ground .

    • @LandtoHouse

Yes. I first thought that the windshield was leaking. But that did not make sense after a few weeks with little to no rain.

    • @johnbriggs7514
      @johnbriggs7514 7 лет назад

I assumed it was rusted floor pan (which I experienced in cars for the 1970's). But looking at the condition of the metal in the car, that seemed unlikely. But one quick Google of "Wet carpets in Corolla" brought up the answer.
