Thanks Bee - great overview and appreciate the kind words! It has been a ton of work configuring everything up to play as well as possible, but we're very happy how it's come along. We'll have to get you the updated v1.1 SD card - lots of little improvements and extra games too! Oh, and you might need to calibrate your pedals - Daytona's pedal is analog and probably why you didn't top out the speed 🙂
Sorry it took so long to get this installed but it was very easy and straightforward! Even without calibrating, most games played great. I should have mentioned calibrating so will add that when I set up my Outrun as player 2
I was about to post my Ridge Racer cab for sale on OfferUp when the "Google/ RUclips spyware" suggested this video! I ordered the kit and will keep my cab! 😊
This is a cool mod that I have been enjoying... Messed up thing is because I got it early I now have to pay an additional$15 to get the update you guys already got... So ready l essentially I paid more
I couldn't get the controls to work on the 18 wheeler game so I did also pay 15.00 for the update as well haven't received it yet couple more of the games wouldn't work either hope this fixes it but I agree with you we shouldn't have to pay for an update to get the games that you bought to work
What update is that? I saw in a video the 18 wheeler game in a list where you select a game. I saw we get Cruis’n N64 games and Daytona USA Dreamcast and maybe PC. I have a Ridge Racer deck that I bought from them to do the work for me, but I didn’t try it yet, I’m going to put it on my seated OutRun, the RR deck will fit but two screw holes won’t line up so I can only use two screws to hold it but that’s ok. The RR cab is hard to find and is expensive like on ebay. It’s out if stock at a lot of stores. I prefer to sit for racing games, but with RR you can make it a sit down by not using the riser and maybe getting the buy stuff sit down kit to raise the cab a bit and it has a seat base although you could use the RR riser and put a seat on it.
@@robkrasinski6217 Best Buy Store has completed an update on the games where all the games are supposed to work and had put on a couple new games as well you have to order the update from them and pay an additional 15.00 thats what I done hope it fixes the 18 wheeler game my pedals don't respond to it at all it loads and sounds good just dont move forward or backwards
Awesome tutorial Bee. Ordered mine day 1 and love it. It’s a great all-in-one mod for those of us who aren’t software savvy with setting up a pc. With the 8” riser booster (and eventually the ability to hook up the bitpixel when BSA adds that feature), it’s a great modded cab. Wouldn’t mind a bigger monitor next. Would also love this type of mod for Tron with flight stick games. Know you have a pc on yours, but again I’m captain clueless with pc setups lol.
I’m not a fan of losing the original arcade Roms . The box itself is really good though . Android is not powerful enough to run ridge or ace . The arcade outruns run well so better mod for outrun cab for me but if I worked for buy stuff I would be fired because everyone else modded their Rr cab and loves this . I actually set all these games up myself to work on a raspberry pi image after getting the box just to see if I could do it lol I’m becoming you Did it with hori wheel and worked great Good video Enjoy your console games 😂
Yea, that's the biggest issue is the number of console games vs arcade versions. If you can get past that, this is a great option for those that just want to play more racing games
@@KongsRUs for sure and they did a great job and priced it well. I suggested to buy stuff just to build their own stand up as the Rr is sold out n their sit downs sell out the second they go up

This Raspberry Pi on steroids is not for me. lol I really only want to run arcade racing games on my modded Ridge Racer A1up and not console games like Mario Kart and such. haha Anyway if you could please do a video using their boards for a PC mod. That would be great! Thanks man!

my only issue is, these are all console versions.. i bought a modded 1up Xmen cab with a dell optiplex desktop running mame/bigbox and there's just no replacement for the arcade versions.. they're SO much better! the console versions of any arcade games are extremely watered down. this is a nice package though..
@KongsRUs, I enjoyed the live modding PC session with Joel (Retro Lizard) especially the live troubleshooting so that if I run across a similar issue with I know how to address the issue...all I have to do now is find an arcade1up Ridge Racer cab. LOL
I really want this, I've done a few simple button mods, audio upgrades, marquee installs, etc, on a few cabs, but I just have a feeling I won't be able to install this....lol
You should do a follow-up on this Bee, now that you've had some time with it. I've noticed a LOT of slowdown on many games (stuttering, broken audio, etc.), along with some really bad MAME ports... even old ones like Pole Position II that you'd think would be easily playable. So, that reduces the TRUE playlist of games considerably. It's still impressive, but after playing Arcade1Up's Fast & Furious, I find myself less tolerant of how many hoops you have to jump through just to find something playable... I'm turning my "favorites" list into a "playable" list, just to cut down on frustration.
Awesome video, been eyeing this conversion for my ridge racer cab and you just sold me. Question though does it save your settings like high score and sensitivity.can you access sensitivity settings in all the games? 😮
Ridge Racer cab was the only other cab I was considering for modding. Didn't have the space when it was on sale but looks like a fun mod. I'd be curious how Beetle Adventure Racing on N64 or PGR on OG Xbox handle since those were my jams.
Most of these games are console versions so they're originally meant to be played with an analog thumb stick. Imagine the wheel is now a giant thumb stick, you'd have to move the wheel further to get the same range of motion on your thumb stick. So it's sensitive, but the cars still turn with the wheel
Hi Bee. Have you attempted to swap the ridge racer pedals with higher quality ones? If you have, can I ask for the link to that video? I’d love to learn how. Thanks
Great install video. I’m still skeptical of the steering sensitivity. It didn’t seem like you ever turned the wheel more than a quarter turn. Appears too jumpy to me.
@@andrewT23 You can't judge steering on video - you have to use it in real life. We're pretty proud of how well we have it all working to be honest - it's not easy to do well! And the encoder sensitivity adjustment solves the issue for those emulators that don't have internal support.
@@andrewT23 That would be Ridge Racer - people do the same thing playing A1ups version. But would it be easier if he adjusted the sensitivity down a notch or two - yes, it would.
I installed mine yesterday. There are some sharp graphics games, though they are in 16X9(PSP?) I've only found rumble on N64 games so far, but it is very faint, almost undetectable. Maybe this can be adjusted in emulec, but I'm not screwing around with that.
We have noticed that some rumble motors that A1up uses do seem more powerful than others. It does vary from game to game and emulator to emulator and most have very few settings to control it, unfortunately. Try Nascar Rumble and if you don't feel much on that one, your motor is probably a weaker one.
Why do the MAME versions run so terribly? Also, I just ordered this based on your video. All I got was the encoder. Do I actually need the HDMI converter or anything else? I was a little confused about that.
You do need an HDMI converter board for the stock screen to accept HDMI input. You can either buy their buy stuff version, or use this one on amazom: amzn.to/3SlblLr
I'm planning on getting this kit without the androidbox and using my own pc. However, my pc only has vga and no hdmi. Would I be able to just connect the pc vga to the vga on the video encoder board? Thanks
So I bought a used cabinet that already had this mod. Everything did work great now the little blue/white box comes up then the screen goes black. Anyone have an idea what I might of broke
I did this on both my RR and OutRun cabs last week. Had some initial issues with OutRun but worked though it. So far I like it a lot. But I assumed that Daytona would be networked so you can play on both cabs simultaneously. I assumed wrong. My bad for not checking the details. Hopefully, it can be added with an update.
