Yes, but from my stance I wasn’t completely in love with the 5 games. Losing the actual arcade roms didn’t hurt, because I mostly wanted Daytona. It’s a great mod for this cab, there are a lot of fun games that play really well on here :)
The variety of games are great but performance seems lacking especially in the 3d games. Looks like they’re running 30fps instead of 60. How’s the handling? Any lag or calibration issues?
I haven’t noticed any lag, but out of the 172 games there’s 10-20 that might struggle steering compared to the rest, but none of those are bangers :) it’s just a common issue you could run into with multicades. I think anyone who purchases will love this, it’s so much better than the 5 games included with RR cab. Thanks for watching trev04!
If it's the PlayStation version there will be a big difference. When I played it on the PlayStation for the first time I was quite impressed how close it was at the time. But if you play the original you will notice a framerate difference. What IS cool about the PlayStation version is how you could unlock different cars. If you shot all of the Galaxians while the game was loading you would have all 12 of the normal cars to choose from with different strengths for top speed, acceleration, handling, etc. Of course the best car was when you unlock the black 13 devil car when you beat it in the time trial course. Also if you beat all the normal courses you would be able to race them backwards. Another trick was to drive up just a little at the start, turn around and floor it and you could drive thru the wall behind you. This would put the track in "mirror mode" where everything is reversed. So quite a bit of track variety... And unlocking that 13 devil car... You can get some really fast times. I know my best game got down to 2:52... Something for the fraction of a second. Ridge Racer Revolution is just as good and has the 13 devil car again but there is also a mini black car (13 racing kid I think) that you can unlock. The best car to unlock on that one is the 00 White Angel car. Rage Racer had a more pastel look but still played great with many challenges. (Some purple high speed car was last I think?). R4 was good but I haven't finished "everything" in it yet. But one thing R4 had when you bought it was a demo disc that let you play one game from the original Ridge Racer I think. (The Time Trial track where you race 1 car). It was a demo at thier attempt to get Ridge Racer running at 60 frames per second to make it look closer to the arcade version. Problem was they couldn't get to to work with "all" of the cars being displayed and keeping the framerate up. Too many polygons. I think Ridge Racer Revolution had the same music tracks from Ridge Racer 2 arcade. I only played the PlayStation versions with a regular PlayStation controller. There was some Namco controller called a NeGeCon I think where you twisted to steer and the buttons were analog for gas and brake. Probably emulating that. I think the first 2 games supported it but I don't know about the others.
I wonder if the game box can be modded to add more games? It's a little disappointing that playstation versions of games are used and not the arcade versions.
I think you can there are extra ports, I might be wrong but these versions might run smoother and that’s why they went with them. I can honestly tell you when your playing you think it’s the real thing in a lot of these. Thanks for watching Retro Replay!
If the arcade versions would run well, they are on the box. Unfortunately, MAME is not very optimized in many ways, so it's not always possible without using a PC build. But our encoder board does work well with PCs and consoles as well, so that is always an option.
@user-ck7my4dh4k it’s a tough choice, both are great in their own way. Do you want 5 racing games or 1 lightgun game? It’s hard for me because I turned both into multiplayer cabs. I’m leaving towards RR
@@PDX7 Thanks anyway. There are instructions, but they are poorly written and vague. They just say to long hold the coin button. But it doesn’t say which menu screen to do it on, what type of indication you will receive, or what to do next. It also offers no illustrations or image shots so you’re just left guessing. I’ve tried numerous permutations of the coin long hold but none have resulted in an add/remove option. It’s not a huge deal as the game is still playable and fun. It’s just annoying to have to go through the entire menu every time to find the specific game I want to play.
All I can tell you is my marquee started flickering and it would completely turn off. I found a Simpsons replacement peeled off sticker and bought a Szabo’s marquee and it works perfect. Do you have RR or Outrun?
@@PDX7 yes I double check my connections I opened up the control board doesn't look like any loose connections the Marquee only flickers when the rumble pack is in use

Awesome job, Phil. It looks great. Now I just have to get to mine. Haha. I am looking forward to Mike's video also. Because I'm wondering if the turbo button on the Outrun gearshift will still work on Outrun Turbo. One other thing, what is the networking option for, just firmware updates? Or can you play others online?
Yes, the OutRun gearshift button is set as a second A button and works for Turbo. There are 31 local network games on our Racing Boxes for 2-8 players.
The thing that is interesting about this mod is that it has a curated list of games that is configured properly. Most of these android box setups are all janky and require a lot of emulation setup to get every game working properly. I don’t like that you lose all the original games from the pcb. That would make it a no go for me. Especially losing rave racer.
I wish they could’ve kept Rave and Ace Driver 1 and 2, other than that its perfect :) I’m going to play this a lot they did a great job with it. I just didn’t play RR enough this gives me a 2nd wind. Thank you for watching Bo!
I noticed you only showed gameplay of the titles that play well. Unfortunately, many of the titles included in this kit have significant slowdown, audio stuttering, graphical glitches, etc. I'm not sure if they're bad ports, bad emulators, or underpowered hardware (or all of the above), but it definitely detracts from the experience. I wish Buy Stuff had only included the games that play well. There's still a good number of solid, fun titles, but there's also too much filler that's basically unplayable.
Thanks for watching Paul, I agree with you there are some that don’t play great. I would say it’s a 50/50 cab I found enough value to be happy with this, I do hope the SW mod will be better. Im really looking forward to seeing the difference.
@@PDX7 Thanks for the reply! I totally agree it's a worthwhile mod, it's just got a lot of "filler" that makes the whole experience less impressive than it could be (nothing worse than finding one of your favorite titles, only to discover you can't really play it). I'm running version 1.12 (the most recent), and I'm sure they fixed a lot of prior issues, but they could do a lot just by removing titles that don't play well and being ok with that.
Do you have Star Wars and are you interested in adding their mod to that also? It doesn’t get much play I’m hoping Roadblasters is on this mod would be perfect for flight yoke.
We included what we could that would run well without requiring a PC. With a PC build, you can run whatever you'd like, of course. But console racing games are often superior in many ways to arcade racers - don't quite understand the bias, even though we hear it commonly.

@@PDX7 I absolutely love PS1 so it’s a concession I can accept 👍
You’ll be very happy with it, this and Hylox MVSX are going to be my most played for a while :)
If the arcade versions would run well, they are on the box. Unfortunately, MAME is not very optimized in many ways, so it's not always possible without using a PC build. But our encoder board does work well with PCs and consoles as well, so that is always an option.
Need advice. Which is a better cabinet for fun factor - T2 or Ridge Racer? Thanks
Are you planning on keeping either stock or adding gaming box?
@@PDX7 probably keep as stock
@user-ck7my4dh4k it’s a tough choice, both are great in their own way. Do you want 5 racing games or 1 lightgun game? It’s hard for me because I turned both into multiplayer cabs. I’m leaving towards RR
@user-ck7my4dh4k leaning
How do you remove/add favorites to the favorites list?
I’ve never tried to add any, there’s gotta be a direction in instruction sheet they give you. I always just go to Daytona :)
@captainbryce1 I know it can be frustrating, I’m sorry I can’t help I’ve never thought about it. D comes up pretty quick :)
Question i modded the kit works just 1 thing the marquee light flickers when the rumble wheel shake in use is this normal?
All I can tell you is my marquee started flickering and it would completely turn off. I found a Simpsons replacement peeled off sticker and bought a Szabo’s marquee and it works perfect. Do you have RR or Outrun?
@@PDX7 Ridge Racer
I guess double check your connections and if it keeps up please let me know.
@@PDX7 yes I double check my connections I opened up the control board doesn't look like any loose connections the Marquee only flickers when the rumble pack is in use
Must really vibrate, I haven’t noticed after I changed my light box. Keep an eye on it if it gets worse I know where to find replacements.
Hello PD7, how long did it take for Buy Stuff Arcade to ship your order?
I’d say 6 weeks, I did add the audio option 2.0 amp after I placed my order along with the 1.1 upgrade and everything shipped together. It was near the end of February and I received it last week. Thank you for watching corigami7!
PD7, thanks for your response...I placed my Buy Stuff Arcade order about 10 days ago so now I have an idea on when I'll receive my order, thanks.
RR or Outrun kit?
@@PDX7 RR Kit
👍 you’ll love it!
Thank you Jesse! I’m looking forward to Mikes video too, you will love this mod!!
@@BuyStuffArcades Thank you for the information. Truly appreciated.
It doesn’t get much play I’m hoping Roadblasters is on this mod would be perfect for flight yoke.
there's too many console racers
But they look good and you’ll be impressed on how they play on either cab
PlayStation versions of ridge racer
Worse version of Daytona
N64 games
This ain’t it mate
Thank you for watching Jaguar 32X, I know but it brings more value for me than the original 5 games for RR.
Real bummer these are not arcade roms
You might not notice much of a difference on these.
We included what we could that would run well without requiring a PC. With a PC build, you can run whatever you'd like, of course. But console racing games are often superior in many ways to arcade racers - don't quite understand the bias, even though we hear it commonly.
Great job 👏.. and yea buy stuff is the best simple mods plug band play!! 👌👍🔥🔥🐲😍🕺🦾
Thanks Bobby, your video completely sold me that you loved Buy Stuff I knew this would be a must to get! 👊💪 hopefully I’ll see you Wednesday night!
