I always keep some imperial - metric couplings and " slip " couplings as well in the van, for these problems, which happen a lot when shops are shut. you can cut 1/10 th of the joist down, without it been weakaned, or a horizontal hole 1/3 rd of the depht .without the joist been weakaned. great to watch you who knows what you are doing, instead of bodgers, and some people on youtube, who are showing people how to do things, when they have not got a clue.
@@capraniplumbingandheatingDon’t you learn lead is poisonous metal particularly this old one with plenty lead oxide on top externally You should use gloves working with lead….big minus on approach in general to the job
Nice job but for me personally i would have wiped a taff joint copper to lead,i have been so unlucky with lead locks in the past,So went back to joint wiping, its the oldest method and works every time,,cheers mate interesting repair,.
They still made us make a wipe joint in our second year of plumbing school and I was and still am thankful that they did because it has bailed out a lot of of my own personal customers and many more of my bosses. We had to buy the hand mitt so you can wipe the lead around the two pipes you are trying to join together. At first I was surprised how thick lead pipes are even on old drains. Just by looking at the lead it seems like you can crush it with your fingers but I assure u it can’t be done.
I appreciate you apolgising, " excuse the noise " but you can't always avoid making noise. a mate of mine , was removing a cast iron bath, in a bathroom, but needed to break it up with a hammer, to get it out, and the owner came up, and said " stop making that noise " so he packed his tools and left, immediately., " you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs " he did'nt like the noise either.
Literally just cut out 2 sections of a lead main on Friday. Hardest part was finding enough lead locks at the merchants. Great video as always
