    Recording this was fun 😊 especially the solo. Be sure to suggest some more Smashing Pumpkins.

      Thank you so much Niko, my favorite band of all time. I’d like to suggest every single song from Gish to Machina, but I won’t be greedy and I’ll just humbly ask for Hummer.

    best guitar tone to come out of the 90s

    I"m pretty sure this is the song that taught me about octaves when I first started playing in the 90s. Great demonstration here, thank you.

    Thank you so much for nailing the solo. Espesially the tricky moment with a bend on a 6th string. I checked lives and see that Billy Corgan improvised every time so I couldn't get this bend on a 6th string.

    Wow, amazing thanks! The wall of sound that Corgan & Vig produced kind of makes it hard to directly see the musicality of the whole thing. The simplicity is also staggering... Truly exceptional arrangement, the mark of a genius songwriter.

    Brilliant performance! Cheers!
    I've never heard anybody play Catfish Blues the way Robert Petway plays it. Neither have I heard anybody play R.L Burnside's Poor Black Matte like the way he does in the (RUclips) 1984 performance. Both are magical performances.

    If you watch 10 people try to and teach this song on youtube, 9 will get the D-A-C-G chords wrong. Thank you for being number 10 who gets it right

      Right, because this voicing stays true to the octave theme throughout the song. I think I've been playing this wrong for about 30 years Lol

    This is such an awesome lesson. But for the life of me, I can't tell what you are doing with the pickslidy thing at 3:11 (intermediate player here). Is that captured in your notation or is that just improvised "fill" ?

    Just started on electric here. What is it that ur doing when going up and down the fret board right before the solo begins? It looks badass. Is it any particular note ur hitting?

    • @spencercampbell4414
      @spencercampbell4414 Год назад

      It’s just a slide up and down the neck, just pick once on one of the first few frets and slide up the neck and then back down. It’s a pretty common thing other players do like Hendrix

      I think James is right. He is playing the weird voicings of the chords. Billy plays the regular (open) voicings
