Nowadays I would certainly think that people could easily look on Google Maps or do photo searches and could research this before flying out sight unseen. But really deceptive of those agencies to assume people are so easily fooled. It's a shame this was done to this beautiful property's surrounds.
Misrepresentation??! You hope people would check on google earth. I was sent to look at a house next to a water tower. Thé agence could not understand why I didn’t like it. So often part of the land is across a road or a chemin with a tractor route. Couldn’t understand why I didn’t want a garden across the road. You must be worth your weight in gold to todays buyers👏👏👌❤️
As far as I can tell after 30+ years in french real estate, the french agents are A/ paranoid about losing a sale and B/ convinced that with marketing "showing it at its best" is just a case of "ignoring the worsed" so to speak.
I often see ads where the picture angles are obviously chosen to NOT show something. To me it’s insane - if something is so obviously going to be off putting to some prospective buyers that you try to hide it, the moment they turn up they’re going to be really pissed and not want to deal with you.
Thanks for sharing the property with us. No way would I want to own an expensive property overlooking a hotel directly under the home. What a shame, it has such a lovely view otherwise. I wonder if at some point the ownership of the Chateau and the hotel were the same family or corporation?
@@FrenchEstateAgent France does not have an exclusive franchise on estate agents that are less than forthcoming with complete information regarding property they are attempting to sell. I live in Hungary and you find similar issues here with listings that have serious flaws that negatively influence property's. I have to say...The estate agents should be completely forthcoming with pertinent information and recent photographs of items they are representing. Estate Agents do not like time wasters no more than clients like agents that waste the buyers time with property that is not likely to meet the buyers expectations based upon the asking price and blemishes..
I agree with what you are saying. I can't speak for Hungary, I only know France and the UK. But the main reason that French agents aren't forthcoming is that they are not protected enough to make sure they get the sale, so an infernal spiral so to speak
Ha! This is laughable. You would have to pay me 1.8M to take that mess! I had all but chosen Leggett for when I become serious about my search for property in France but after watching so many of your videos, I think you are going to be my guy! Keep it up!
I have yet to find ANY agency which willingly posts the actual location of the French properties they advertise. Yours included, I'm afraid. It's often possible to determine the location via satellite and street views, but not always. I understand the commonly-given reason behind this and I trust that it's rarely deceptive, but could you be better about this before criticizing everyone else?
I am not criticising that they don't give out the location, but that they hide the fact it is sitting on top of a hotel. As for us (or any agent) giving out the location, it is to do with the French realty contract more than anything.
@@FrenchEstateAgent Yes, I understand the rationale and in cases where an agent has exclusivité with the owner it's easier (or perhaps *should* be easier) to give the precise location among the details. I just think hiding the location is part of hiding its faults, so maybe not exactly the same thing but related. I only mean to offer constructive criticism, so I'm genuinely sorry if I've offended.
@@tinyhands7651I’m not offended at all. I agree, I wish that agents would give out the information more willingly, but unfortunately the sales contracts don’t protect the agents enough for them to want to.
I do appologise I have a sinus malformation that causes me to breath heavily, maybe you would prefer me to just stop breathing. If you are not happy, there are plenty of other channels to watch.
In the short term, yes, but as he sold his soul in the 1980's, he would have got less than 1Million euros (guessing) for the hotel project,. Today his property is sitting unsold for an initial starting price of 2,5M euros and imagine how much it would be worth if it didn't have a hotel below it. ........You reap what you sow!!
Most people looking at properties now use Google Maps since nothing is ever as advertised. It seems you're throwing these other agencies under the bus to get some views? That being said, it still won't sell.
Well done for showing this problem!
Thank you, but I don't actually see it as a problem. Just something that needs to be clarified from the offset, not once you are on site to visit it.

I think it is just the French agents misconception that to make somewhere look the best, is to delete the worst.
Soo glad to see you!!
Glad to be back...

I completely agree with you, waisting their time and the agents.
thank you, excellent video
You are welcome!
AMEN
Another great video, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it

Me personally neither. As for the ownership, I believe they were the same at the time of the construction of the hotel.

Diction man, diction......
I am not an native English speaker, so it’s probably me, but it’s difficult to undertand what this guy is saying.

Anyone with any intelligence will use Google maps, but the fact remains that the french agencies still like to play hide and seek with you.
