Other classes with extra attack do NOT spend a bonus action for the additional swing, it's just 1 (or up to 3 for fighter) extra attack with your weapon whenever you take the "Attack" action. You're probably thinking of dual wielders, who do use a bonus action for their off-hand weapon attack.

I'm currently playing an artificer. He started as an artillerist until the battlesmith was added. I changed it to the battlemsith because the overall support & offense for the Artificer is pretty lack-luster. Still a fun concept but I think the class still needs more oomph

I worked with my dm to make it possible for the artificer to enchant magical items but require the base magic scripture for what they are trying to infuse it into said item the way we did it was for each spell level costs the same as a wizard transcribing a spell into their spellbook also it’s able to disenchant items into scroll form, also we worked with geology stuff to make cool things like a ruby is needed for a fireball ring or my personal favorite taking a salt crystal and enchanting a temp hp restoration the same as a 2d4 hp potion and it’ll get bigger as I level

currently playing a battlesmith. I noticed a lot of paladin and cleric spells so I reflvoured him as a sort of tech-priest of 'the earthbreaker', who invented the warforged (homebrew setting, not eberron).
I originally wanted to do a crossbow build BUT in practice it did not turn out that well. originally I was using the heavy crossbow but the iron defender's defensive pounce ability and unimpressive HP and AC mean that they are more of an off-tank than a replacement for a true tank (which my party lacked). I am using a sword and shield now and I'm the hardest guy to kill and the second heaviest-hitter (we got a +2 longsword as part of the main plot and I infused the shield to be +1. gave the rogue a +1 shortsword).
the DM realized I could heal the defender with a cantrip so the monsters stopped targetting leonardo (my iron defender is a mechanical lion called leonardo although the rest of the party call him 'leonard')
at artificer 5 you get warding bond and branding smite which are good spells to sit back in the backline with since both work at a range BUT branding smite is very situational. I can see a case for warding bond but at 5th level artificers get acess to the 'blur' spell which can make you a really good tank.

I hope bg3 has all the newish stuff since nwn 2 like this class, as it's been a while since an actual strong dnd PC game that isn't some spin off ip in the genre. Fairly sure if artificer is in bg3 it's an easy shoo in as gnome for my first mc, and gnome purely for WoW nostalgia.

      @bigwig8657 5 лет назад

@@rpgmd6471 I think some or more of prestige classes weren't official nor was epic level characters when mask of the betrayer came out iirc. And the remasters of bg2 have added new not official subclasses I've heard(but haven't played the series in a long while).
And I would assume if interested in a great source of objective data for balancing of a new class since the masses are phenomenal at breaking things and telemetry offers the objectivity, as well finds out what part of a class are not good enough or daunting or unintuitive enough that people underuse skills.
I could be way off but slamming a new class in a game that should be a smash success off literally just nostalgia buys would be an ideal place to show off new things that are shiny and new to draw the attention of past but not current players.
And wizards as a company has slowly and recently much more quickly been adapting to post millennium gaming led by the huge success of arena(seriously the company celebrated y2k new years for a decade or so before adapting).

Have you ever wanted to give your GM the finger and pick a class that's incredibly broken? Well now you can with the artificer! Now you can make indestructible mounts, indestructible items, magical and wondrous items, you can replicate stuff AND you can permanently augment items.
Do you hate everyone at your table and want to be a massive Mary Sue douchebag? Well now you can by picking a warforged envoy artificer! Now you're the ONLY race that can have an AC of 22 at lvl 20 when wearing nothing (24 if you have a shield), that can start with a permanently attached tool that can never be taken away which you have expertise in. You don't have to sleep, you're immune to disease, you're resistant AND resilient to poison and you don't require food to survive.
And hey, since the makers of D&D don't give a flying f*** when it comes to balance you can be easily healed by other party members eliminating the ONLY weakness artificers previously had.
Now go forth and ruin D&D for as many people as possible.

    • @Milleniummeister
      @Milleniummeister 5 лет назад

...You are blowing this far out of proportion. With all my research I found out that, yes, the artificer is a strong class. But it is far from being "indestructible". The artificer changes nothing that is not already existing in the game. The items can be easily destroyed. Hell with the Battlesmith they literally give you options to heal that thing because they expect it to go down quickly. It's also not true that you permanently augment Items. You can only augment a very low number of them if we speak about actual combat. While it is true that you can give effects to a high number, those effects concern itself with basic stuff like "Make it smell like this" "Make it glow in the dark", essentially the glorified version of a cantrip with no damage applications whatsoever.
If we talk about infusions? You can only infuse items that are specifically named in the infusions and you have to learn that infusion first. This means you cannot just pick up an item and give it a +1 because you feel like it.
Then there is your "Point" about replicating Wonderous Items. Yes, you can do that.
      With a Level Cap.
      A few times.
      With specifically named items.
There is a specific selection of Items listed, name by name, with restrictions of how many at the same time and at which level you can replicate. This is very cool since you have to spend no money but is far from broken in any way. Here is an example:
      Alchemy jug No
      Bag of holding No
      Cap of water breathing No
Cloak of the manta ray No
      Goggles of night No
      Lantern of revealing No
      Rope of climbing No
      Sending stones No
      Wand of magic detection No
      Wand of secrets No
That is what you can do from level 2...to LEVEL 12! 10 Levels before you can replicate a more powerful effect. And everytime you take that infusion, you can replicate exactly the singular Item you picked. How many infusions do you get till level20?
      8
You can replicate the effects 8 items if you pick the infusion, every. single. time.
      8 Items.
Again, this his strong at a high level but...Really? Get to level 12. Get there. Then you can complain.
And finally: What the majority of your argument here states is just things about the war forged. Things that, I have to remind you, you also got wrong. Again it is true that the warforged is pretty strong. But that thing is a playtest...And its fully expected to change...
Pretty much the best thing about the warforged are the ability not to sleep (Though you still have to rest for 6 hours), immune to disease and resilient to poison as well as not having to eat or breath.
Compare that however to Humans who get 6 ability score points for free and I highly question which one is more broken. Why? Because the Strengths of the Warforged are primarily in his utility. While the tool that is integrated cannot be disarmed, it can still be broken. Not to mention that EVERY SPELL THAT APPLIES TO A HUMAN ALSO APPLIES TO WARFORGED. GOOD AND BAD. Meaning that you can easily confuse, mind control, dominate, curse, blast, and god knows what else. If your benchmark is: "This race is versatile and can reach High AC" I wonder if you ONLY have martials in your enemies.
The point about the armor is equally as easy to refute since the Warforged cannot wear it. What you describe is his ability to shift his body to get more AC, which in turn is depending on the proficiency you have. I play a Warforged Bard and while his AC is higher than it would normally be, I still go down pretty regular. It's not unbeatable. If I would dream to achieve the things you are talking about, we are talking about taking stuff like Medium or Heavy Armor Proficiency, which in turn comes with its own setbacks. So much to the "The only weakness Artificers have"
Also: If your benchmark is: "Hey this class is absolute shite because if I combine it with this race and do everything to break it, it's broken! ALSO LEVEL 20" You are also one of the guys who would state that the Artificer has access to "Lucky" and thus sucks huh? Because I can guarantee you that a Level 20 Wizard would give 2 shites about your warforged and blast you to kingdom come.
      Because of Wizard.
And Finally: What you describe there is not only a Character that is optimized to the absolute max but also, as you put it, "a massive Mary Sue douchebag who hates everybody on his table". Which, believe it or not, I can do with every fucking class. Artificer's greatest strength is his versatility. He can heal, fight, tank, fill every role needed very well while still helping his group. Only an utter idiot or a selfish prick would use every power solely for himself, at which point no balancing helps you anymore. "Oh the cleric is just healing himself...Well, guess 5e just has no balancing". I will play an Artificer soon and I would be damned if I did not hand out an infusion or 2 to my allies. Be it a protective shield, an infusion that reloads their crossbows or that sweet +1 magic bonus on my buddies longsword.
I am sorry but...What you are posting here is laughable. You go from one of the BEST COMBOS, ON THE HIGHEST LEVEL, which your GM signed off without any question, playing it as an absolute cut...And then call the thing broken. That says so much more about your playstyle than it says about the class. Honestly. If your first impulse is "OH I CAN USE THIS FOR MYSELF FUCK YOU GUYS", the fuck does that say about you. If you have people like that in your groups, they are the problem not the class. You might as well complain about Warlocks because you have a way better chance of being right there from the few games I saw so far.
Get a god damn grip man...
