    Not sure if it applies to other INTPs, but a hot button that can get pushed for me is: when others who I have NOT recognized as an authority, tells me what to do (orders me around).

    Worst things that ever could happen to me in correct order. 1 is worst.
    1. The doorbell rings unannounced
    2. I get a phone call
    3. I get a text message from someone who wants something of me
    4. I get an email from someone who wants something of me

      yeah, there are lots of kind of people and I put them in a category. For example there are the snobby ones, there are the fun and genuine ones, there are the slightly annoying but some how torable ones,there are the ones whom you can relate to (very rare by the way I only met two of them), there are the cliches and last but not least the dramatic ones. Majority of them might be annoying but hating on those people will not be right because it would make you a bad person. so you try to find things you can relate with them even if it is boring.

    INTPs with parents -->
    " I need you to come upstairs and do some things for me?"
    "Why? What do I need to do?"
    " You do not ask you just do as your parents ask!!!"
    When I genuinely just want to know what they want!! It's infuriating lord

    • @snaffa470
      @snaffa470 9 лет назад +28

      INTPs with religious parents --->
      Parent: God created jesus to cleanse humans from their sins
      INTP: Why? He could have just made the process a lot easier for himself and made the humans perfect in the first place
      Parent: insert old greek folktale
      INTP: that doesn't make any sense, why? how? Who comes up with these kind of myths and stories? How did they all come to intersect and create one large sequence of myths ? How long did the story take to develop, what inspired them to do so? How did the first story originally go, because of coarse they develop and change with time?
      Parent: you are so disrespectful, I am your parent you do not ask why its just because...
      Oh my god I hate when people justify their reasonings really poorly...just pushes my buttons.

      Jack Patton Idont think his comment was about religion at all, its about his parents and their totalitarian rule over him, that happend to be Christians. The "dont think" mentality, not the religion.

    • @snaffa470
      @snaffa470 8 лет назад +4

      I wasnt suggesting that christianity was a folktale, I simply imply different perspectives on things. I like to look at things in more than just one aspect and I respect some ideologies that Christianity presents, As poposisa had mentioned it's more of how I am "not" supposed to look at Christianity in more than one way taking different sides of it, which my parents are strictly against. I am not an Atheist either and even though you believe I might be irrational for not believing in Christianity, I respect some aspects of it and highly dislike others, I believe there is some form of god but I'd like to keep it at that. I dont believe I have a very skewed view on Christianity at all, I have been exposed to a lot of it and have looked at different perspectives and from those I have concluded on my own grounds, I like to think I am not as close minded as most "young" "immature" people are, I am immature in a lot of aspects but I am certain I was not irrational when I had came to my conclusions about religion.

    He's right about INTPs coming off as challenging and abrasive. There's a lot of questions I don't ask people because I'm afraid they won't like the answer they will end up giving, or it will make them fell uncomfortable.
    Conversely, you can ask an INTP almost anything you want with little fear of being seen as offensive. As long as it's an honest question you generally get an honest response.

    You know that I don't respect you when I just stare blankly at you while you talk; I refuse to engage in idiocy. Also, very true about the micromanagement; I can't stand it when my boss checks up on me. In general, I need an environment in which I have complete autonomy and the ability to ask questions and discuss when necessary. I can't get the job done right otherwise.

    ONE OF MY PET PEEVES: I hate it when I am asked to provide details and information about certain things and not be informed of reasons why I should comply in the first place. "Would you give me details on this and that? " My reaction with that would be "Why? Why do I have to do that? What's the info for?" This usually happens through texts. People don't explain things anymore when they're asking favors through texts.

    • @unforg1v3n
      @unforg1v3n 9 лет назад +3

      kahnt They don't explain things in real life as well. I hate it too. I always ask why/what they need it for, especially when I get a context-sensitive request/question and the usual reply is "just tell me" or "no reason". If there's no reason why do you want any information on anything? I'd very much prefer the honest answer "I don't want to tell you". [yes, I can understand that they don't want to tell me but I want to hear them say it for a change.]

    I'm an INTP and small talk doesn't bother me in the least bit now. I've learned, over time, that a great deal of people enjoy this activity and it is therefore logical to participate in small talk in order to form better alliances and advance my interests. I also actually find it's a great way to take a break from all the inner dialog going on.

  • @kannbrown65
    @kannbrown65 8 лет назад +10

    I think the abbreviated overview issue stems from the times when we try to dot all the i's and cross all the t's and watch people's eyes glaze over, either boredom and confusion. I tend to either over or under explain things. Or under explain, warn them that the full explanation is long, then ramble at them (clarifying EVERYTHING, or so I think) for half an hour or more.

    Every INTP would embrace the idea of personal clones. I would be so organized and less error prone because each clone would triple check everything. Rationals like us have the ability to question everything (we are the most neutral, unbiased type) and we hate having to trust people too much (especially non-INTPs). We dislike it when Se dominant people dismiss our ideas and theories as being too abstract and inhuman. We only ever get really emotional (extreme rage, fear or sadness) when we experience heavy ignorance (e.g. ISTJs and ESTJs who need to make sure that everyone has acted strictly within the rules even if the rules are obsolete, ESTPs risking their life at any given moment for the thrill of it, ENFPs's populist attitude willing to impair progress for conformity). The majority of people focuses on temporary matters like appearance, physical sensation and property, it's sickening. Actually our ideas will outlive us. Fellow INTPs let's get back to work, after all we were the first scientists and philosophers.

    I am a female INTP and sent this good video to my family and they still can not understand me! They suck my energy so much. My entire family are all F people! My sister wants texting and phone call twenty times a day and I like emails! What is the problem with emails??! She is an ESFJ and even though we care about each other, but we fight all the time! She wants to crack me open and I do not allow her! She can be so manipulative and love attention! I am not like her!

    • @t3hsourcey
      @t3hsourcey 10 лет назад +2

      Well crackdown and scold her, hard, just bring out your bottled up emotions and angst, lay down your bold, truthful criticism. Use their own weapon against them by being just as emotionally manipulative. What we lack in expression we can come out with intensity. She wants attention from you? Give it to her, show her that you do think about stress, feelings of others, and instead of being supportive they're bogging down your independence.
      Extraverted feeling might be our minor function, but that doesn't mean we can't use it effectively. If they're looking for *unconditional* feelings, sympathy and the like, make it clear you can't do that. We are impartial by nature, we seek understanding, not empathy.

      sorry about the late reply but I know exactly how you feel! I tend to act the way I really am with my family and relatives and they all seem offended when I dont care to say some things or I just blankly take in information without anything to add because it seems worthless, they often think I hate them but in fact I love them because I am able to just be happy sitting there saying nothing and just enjoying the silence! I definitely agree about the debating thing. I feel very engaged in a healthy debate that relys on my ability to counterargue another's point. It's stimulating, as long as the person I'm talking to doesn't get angry or frustrated, then it becomes very frustrating. I don't really hate small talk, but I don't respect it all that much unless it's a topic that engages me. That sounds very INTJish, to hate small talk

    As an intp it is really hard for me for communication, when i ask them back they start with a mean answer or get mad at me, and sometime i got upset too because i don't get the question they ask me or something they ask me to do but i don't know how what and why 😭

    Or being told that you have to do something you hate. But you can do it whenever you want as long as its done in a week. OMG, just go do it now or its gonna be floating around my head until I do it, if I do it. Then your like " why do we even have a lawn? Why do I have to mow it anyway, why not buy a goat?"

    If an intp ever says.
    I know
    Please shut up and move on. You are boring us, insulting us and wasting both of our time. If you still insist on wanting a conversation so your ego feels validated. Ask us too tell you what we are doing with the project/work.

    I'd say hell starts double in someone's life when considering the possibility that a transsexual is an intp...Question then becomes "how"?, because of the fact that there must be at least one. I can barely reason through that. I take on the idea that a sense of identity and what someone goes about their identity corresponds to personality traits, if they have a personality.

    Hi Lara, I'm INTP transgender as well. Nice to know I'm not alone :) Setting aside the irrationality of anti-discrimination laws (which do nothing to change actual opinion, just mask it from the eyes of society) wouldn't it be fun if being rational were a protected characteristic? We should also get a free pass on GRS etc as clearly we have thought things through lol

    Hi Lara! Thanks for the post...Hmm..I only get 500 characters in my replies, so I may be hard-pressed to address your question in detail. I will say that you are correct, that INTPs are under-represented in females in the United States, but they are more represented in European countries. Shoot me an email at neil.ihde@lifeiq.com and we can dialogue further.

      Oh I can't stand INFJs, or pretty much anyone with an F in their personalities. I don't care about feelings. Give me the facts, the rationale, support it with sound logic, mean what you say and be honest and concise, and then we can have a conversation that leads some place.

      nope. we're insensitive, period, which is why we pick everything apart, and that includes what other people say about everything, including about ourselves, and that process comes across as insensitive to others, because, I don't care about feelings, only rationales

    • @Fear_the_Nog
      @Fear_the_Nog 4 года назад

      @mattR Mega only if you're an immature one, we learn to adjust our interfacing with the world as we age. Though I'm more of an INTJ, so I'm even more extreme
