      Performance is what you should be looking at.
      Although the Chinese tires have to hit the same performance marks as the domestics.
      So if that's the case which it is.
      Unless you're running at super high speeds.
      It's all about the brand names.

    I have been using Hifly tires 275x70x16 A/T for about 15 yrs now here in Trinidad. They are affordable, I get about 55,000 kilometres out of them, find they handle quite good on dry and wet roads. Not noisy. Our roads are pretty bad and with a lot of curves in the part of the country I live I have no complaints about them. 👍🏼🤙🏾🇹🇹

    Hi guys & gals....I installed 4 Dynamo winter tires in Feb 22 & just installed another set of the same brand from Cdn Tire yesterday. They are very good in the snow & worked well going up my very steep driveway! I took them off with 37,000 kms = 23,000 miles. I likely had another 2-3 thousand kms left on them but we are going to go on a small vacation next week. They also are exceptionally quiet on the road with great handling.....so for $110. each....why not ??

    • @rokan81
      @rokan81 2 года назад

      @@onlyromanian4002 excellent! That’s a huge overstatement for an all weather rated tire. Excellent is Michelin alpin, blizzak ws90, nokian hakkapeliita….these are probably acceptable at best that have decent traction. I guarantee you and watch comparison of good not even best winter tires vs cheap rated ones and 100% of the tests find it that while the cheap tires give decent acceleration traction the stopping is sub par and the handling in turn in on snow is always poor. I keep saying it over and over they have to CUT CORNERS somewhere to make it a $100. Misinformation at large. Buy it over an all season yes but saying it’s excellent in snow, I’d say you haven’t tried a set of blizzak or hakkepeliitas.

    I worked at a Michelin plant in my early 20s. We used machines from the 1940s. I was on a line making tires for Canadian Tire Certified brand. They put stamps in the press to make the letters when the tire is cured. Now days some of those lines of tires are made in China. My BF Goodrich are stamped made in China. It’s all about profits for the investors not “you”. So go buy $1200 tires to make yourself feel good. At the end of the day the truth is either bitter, stings or cuts just like medicine. Heck this phone I am using is made in China. It must be ready to explode from poor quality... 😮

      @@mtbridingog9083 That’s a Grey area and what tires meet what minimum standard. I’m not saying these will blow out or leave you stranded that can happen to any tire but the compound and radial design is probably subpar as they have to cut corners somewhere to keep it cheap.
      Aside from that your tire is only as good as the wheel it rides on and most people buy the cheapest Chinese replica rim they can find to look cool. Rims don’t necessarily need to meet any type of standard but look for ones that at least give you a load rating and JWL stamp.

    They copy the best features... Unethically maybe... and make them to a price.
    From my experience as a tyre fitter, I can vouch that many cheap tyres are well built e.g. HiFly, Triangle, Rapid, Silverstone, etc. They need less than 35g to balance as compared to other cheap brands from India or Indonesia that make lopsided tyres that need 75g weights to balance.

      That blizzak tire 20,000 miles is rated for poor inclement weather it’s not even meant to be driven on above 50 degrees F the compound is soft due to microscopic soft silica that needs to grip slush and snow.
      Ferraris come with Michelin super cup or pirelli p zero trofeo tires. You’d never see a blizzak on a Ferrari.

      Jose Perez If you have a full winter tire for the winter then you wont need an all season for the rest of the year. All season tires are great for areas that don't get any snow but are cold. If you go full winter then get a Highway Performance tire for the rest of the year. Being in the USA I would suggest going with Goodyear as they have a good bang for buck over there just steer clear of the Walmart specials they are cheaper because they are cheaper. For the summer end I would try something like the Goodyear Assurance Comfortread or the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max. One of Bridgestones Duellers comes at a decent price too I think. If you want something more performance orientated then you could go Michelin Pilot Sport.
      If you wanted cheaper then you could go for something like the Hankook RA33 or Maxxis HP-M3
      As far as winter tires go, if you're driving often then go with the Goodyear Ultra Grip or Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2.

    • @Rockin4D
      @Rockin4D 6 лет назад

      I run a 2011 RAV4 base 4wd/v6. I run Blizzak DM-V's in winter and Firestone Destination LE2's during the other 3 seasons. BLizzaks grip snow and ice like glue while the destinations are smooth and quiet plus have a long tread life.

I can say from experience cheap Chinese tires can't handle, don't last and can't stand up to a real performance tire. That's not even a cool looking tire its pretty generic and cheap looking. Couple laps on drift days they chuck and detread and a waste of money

    I can cut a sweet ass tread design in a hockey puck, doesn't mean it's going to help me stop. The cuts and sipe's only go down 2/32nds.
    There's so many different grades of rubber that the recipes are infinite. If you feel the compound on a Michelin Xice Xi3 or a Blizzak WS80 and then feel The Chinese tires it's a world of difference. There are many factors into purchasing a tire. Not only how long they last but how well they work further in the tire's life. The braking distance on a premium tire VS. a Chinese tire. Road noise as well, luggy tread is only good for a little bit of deep snow, NOT on ice. You need to maximize your footprint with the proper compound for grip .You as the Consumer take all the risk on this garbage. internally the casing, belts and liner and full process of workmanship and material as well. Road force issues are more prone and problematic . KNOW WHAT YOUR PAYING FOR!!! My family is worth more than the MOST expensive tire's. When Driving a 3 tonne vehicle moving at high speeds metal over flesh always wins!! DON'T CHEAP OUT!!!

    To be honest it’s a lot like food. Big name brands pay for research and development but these small companies only really need to copy the others homework. A lot of the time there are a few things they don’t get but allot they do. Now there are cheap tires that are actually crap but allot are really good depending on the version. Example of some good but still have faults are advanta and americus they have good grippy tires with decently aggressive tread and a compound that works great in dry and wet but the compound seems a little soft so not to great on the tire life someplace around 20k-50k miles

      Best way to get a quality budget tire is to buy one that is manufactured by another major brand. There are many lower end brands that are under the umbrella of major brands that still actually have QC and R&D that goes into their budget tires.

    Why does my 4 Michelin Primacy MXV4 sidewalls all cracked only on the 3rd year ?
    Good handling and traction, but looks like a rolling time bombs on wheels. They would not even honor me with their looks so good & wonderful 5 years warranty.
    I thought brand names were supposed to be superior.

      Lok Tom Never had that issue with Michelin had that issue with Firestones three years 38,000 km all cracked done. You would think the quality would be better since they are own by Bridgestone. Some of my Michelin‘s are 6 to 10 years old and are still fine.The 10 year old Michelin‘s are just starting to get some light cracking in the tread’s and this will be the last winter for them. I’ve also had very good luck with Chinese made tires something to consider

    You can't look at a tyre and determine if it's good or not.
    Much of the tyre's performance will be its structure.

    Nothing wrong with cheap tires. I put a set of some shitty Turkish brand on my car. A set of 4 was $140 including shipping. They're just as grippy and just as quiet as the expensive Michelin tires they replaced. Probably won't last as long but I'm okay with that. My car is worthless and could die at any time so no reason to put expensive tires on it.

    I just bought a set of Uniroyal Tiger Paws for my 2007 Kia Sportage, and that same night, my gf and I (As seen on my profile pic on the left) went to the commons where the local movie theater is to see a movie, and we parked in a lot full of Volvos, Audis, Cadillacs, Infinities, BMWs, etc. and our cheap little Kia Sportage seemed to blend in with these high end luxury cars we parked with, cause the wealthy owners admired how nice our car looked!
    Edit: As of 2023, I now drive a 2016 Ford Escape and I put Uniroyal Tiger Paws on it too!

    Cheap might look better! Doesn't mean it will perform! It's not just down to tread pattern! Sidewall strength! Compound of rubber! The overall makeup of the tire and how its put together! If your selling tires just on looks that's pretty worrying!

    • @ratagris21
      @ratagris21 2 года назад

      The siping is there but only half way down the tread. Once that is gone it's just blocks. I won't trust it for the price. The sniping should either go all the way down or open up some as it wears to help with traction. He moved the camera so much you can hardly notice. Remember he doesnt sugar coat it.

    • @alexmaclean1
      @alexmaclean1 Год назад

      @@gx4548 not exactly cost wise but yea, we have people getting 90,000 km out of michelin, good year and continental tires all the time but these Chinese specials last 25000km at best.
      They serve a purpose, they get you out of a bind. A set of China specials for my car runs about 600 Bucks and a set of cross climate 2 is 1100. Less than twice the price but 3 or 4 times the life and better performance in all aspects while at it.
      These are getting better but the reality is that it's easy to make a tire round and black, but millions of dollars goes into designing top end tires that you just can't expect for this price level. Tires are the only thing holding you to the road, not the place to cheap out imo.

    It’s a concept known since ancient times, one is the Greek story involving Prometheus at the trick of Mecone. Wrap the attractive part around something without substance, while hide the good stuff in something revolting....
    Even the god Zeus was fooled and picked the fat surrounding the bones, meaning the gods eat nothing during a sacrifice while the humans eat the meat.

    I could've paid $120 a piece for the same Goodyear Eagle LS2 shit I've been using but I said 'no fuck that, those tires only get me 20k miles MAX'. And I know what hard driving is from my younger years, I dont drive hard anymore.
    So I went online and did many hours of research to find a cheaper but better tire. Lo and behold, I find Vercelli Strada II for $75 a piece with higher specs in every category and way better reviews on multiple different websites and online sellers. Just put them on yesterday. Time will tell but I'm betting I found a winner.
