The song was from 1977's All N All album. The High notes were by "the voice" Philip Bailey, the Tenor is sang by Maurice White. You have heard many of their songs you just did not know it was them. I bet you have heard at least "September", "Boogie Wonderland", "Shining Star" and "Let's Groove" and maybe "Reasons". If you like the high notes in this song then you will love the high notes in Reasons and "I'll Write a Song for You". As Steve Harvey says, EW&F is the baddest band ever on God's green earth."
It is so nice to see a whole new generation of young people discovering, our generation's music. ( The baby boomers) You guys have no idea what you missed. what a time we had!!!!!
Yes…Indeed….enjoyment from the era of the 60’s was an introduction. The 70’s was the Main Ingredients of the past generations. The 80’s was era full of FUN and DANCE….the 90’s was an Celebration!!! From that point…I Just stayed stalled in TIME…..
You said it! Regardless the genre! Notice now-- especially if you're 56+-- whether it be Rock, Soul, Metal or Pop-- even if you didn't listen to it actively during your youth-- given the state of today's 'music', ALL of the '70s 'MUSIC' stands the test of Time.
And so much more. They were a cosmic new ages kind of compilation of rhythmic jazz, soul, funk with the goal of bringing a higher vibe to Humanity through their music. If you read Maurice White's original intention for the band and the name concept you will see. It was Love and Spirituality in a hip kind of way.
The Mightiest Elements of the Universe...EARTH! WIND! AND FIRE!!! As a 60 year old man, I appreciate your feedback of the GOAT of bands. I bought this cassette tape, vinyl, CD, in the 70s, 80s, and 90s!!! Really, I was soooo lucky to have grown up with EWF and the 1970s music in general. Many have already suggested many of their hits for you. But, if you really want to dwell into their greatness...you MUST hear their instrumentals including Sun Goddess (live), Africano, Runnin', to start with. Then...the spirituals is a must...Devotion, Burnin' Bush, See the Light...great job on your observation and enjoy!!
Man Earth Wind & Fire is probably one of the greatest bands EVER. And they are still performing after about 50 years. Take a deep dive into this rabbit hole and stay.
The dude with the high voice (falsetto) is Phillip Bailey. The crazy this is, watch some of their old live videos from back in the day, like "REASONS", and you'll be amazed that he sounded even better live. In reasons he literally does a battle with the Saxophone ... AND WINS!!
As an early 1960's born baby who was a teenager in the 1970s, I stayed broke buying Earth, Wind and Fire albums and replacing the copies I wore out! LOL!!😄. Young man, you are just "touching the tip of the iceberg" of this group. Check out the whole "All N All" album, and many other hits from their extensive and award-winning catalog. You won't be sorry!👍❤
In my opinion EWF is the greatest band of all time. Thy have NUMEROUS albums of HITS. This is a rabbit hole if you choose to go down it. I'll Write a Song is a must. Love's Holiday, After The Love Has Gone, Shining Star, You Can't Hide Love. ETC.
That isn't crazy! This is how things were done then! You better not come up there with some Auto Tune!!! Aretha Franklin didn't even know what that was...some interviewer had to tell her and she thought the whole concept was ridiculous!!!
@@nm1raider758 Im aware I just hate that nowadays it's rare to hear a song without autotune unless you're listening to something from the 90s or earlier
If this song, this, music, makes you compelled to cry, whether you be male or female, just, do it. It is gloriously magnificent and has reason, rhyme and meaning to it. It MEANS SOMETHING. "SPECIAL".
"I'm four seconds in and this sh#% is dope!" That is what Earth Wind and Fire will do to you. The "elements," as they are often called, are absolutely EPIC on every level. Check out the interludes between their songs which are amazing as their actual songs. "Brazilian Rhyme" will blow your mind.
The guy in the picture is the late Maurice White. Genius! Love his singing but the falsetto is Phillip Bailey. Both legendary singers of a legendary band. What R&B is supposed to be.
Fantasy came out in 77. My dad had me on this growing up till this day. Ceelo and the dungeon fam were inspired by soul and funk. That why their music always brought different vibe. Very soulful.
Song came out in 77. Maurice White had just seen the movie Close encounters of the third kind in NYC and was inspired by the whole science fiction vibe and started to write the song!
What is cool, is I got to see them in concert just a couple of years ago. Yeah, still had some of the original artists, but the band is a franchise and they have done an excellent job in bringing in new talent and have maintained their grove. Show was amazing.
Ok bro, I suscribed. I been up all night looking at your reactions to songs from my younger years and I'm so happy you appreciate them. Many bands and vocalists from that era would come in concert and blow your mind. No tricks and enhancements, just musicianship and pure talent. As for EWF, If you want to hear a funkier EWF song from this same album, check out "Serpentine Fire". Other gems from this album, "Love Holiday, I write a song for you, Be ever wonderful". Just keep dipping into EWF's catalog, there are so many gems. And many of their songs that were not singles are just as fire! Their catalog goes so deep.
EFW is before my time (my parents generation) HOWEVER ever since I was able to work a record player, the classics have consumed me COMPLETELY… My mom says “You just love them oldies, those was not good times for me” 😆 Btw that’s Phillip Bailey on the high notes!
EWF is one of the greatest bands ever and Fantasy has been my best song since I head it at 5 years old in Spring 1978. Will never forget that feeling upon first listening even at that young age. They have so many great album tracks that were never released as singles. One gem (of many!) is 'Clover' from the Keep your Head to the sky album. Enjoy the EWF journey, it's a great ride...
They were a group like from another universe and they performed their butts off. You would just scream and act a fool when they came on tv, etc. You need to see a live video of them. They played their instruments and danced and sung at the same time. One instrument was like a wash board, something from another planet. When he said ecstacy (this is a state of joy and great happiness), it is not the drug to get high on but get high off of their band and music. Now you Satori My G, you have reached that state of ecstacy and that is how we felt with this band and their music.

This is my favorite song by Earth Wind and Fire. I am from that era of music and I thoroughly enjoy watching you, as a young man, enjoying and appreciating old school music.
On of my favorite tunes! I love your reaction. You have to see them in concert. EWF moves so beautifully on stage, but I love watching Tigger when he kicks the high hat, spins, then kicks it again. It is so cool!!!!
To know this music that I grew up on has touch the souls of 20 something 40 years later, let me know that we had real music. I am sorry that you young folks did not experience this kinda music. But now you understand why we say you do not know what real music sounds like.
So glad that I has the opportunity to live my teens and twenties during the years of the great groups such as EWF. The music moves my soul today same as it did back in the day.
Such amazing music from back in the day -- freely available on your car radio back then, any time you wanted! Stunning voices, arrangements, musicians in EWF, all collaborating to deliver so much beauty to us! Definitely one of the best bands of all time!
These guy's were Julliard graduates. They had the best in musical studies. I cried when my mom took my older sister and my cousin to see them when they came to Detroit. EWF had 2 lead singers. Maurice White and Phillip Bailey. Phillip (in my opinion) is the GOAT of falsetto singers. And after Maurice had to stop touring with the band for health reasons Phillip could sing all his parts too and the band still tours.

The falsetto that you like so much is none other than Phillip Bailey. He had a solo album out many moons ago, try listening to his song entitled "Trapped" on his Continuation cd. You also may like "I'll Write A Song For You " on the All N All cd.
Fantasy is my #1 favorite EW&F song...i hate to say that because they have so much amazing music, but this one takes the cake for me! You need to continue down this rabbit hole if you havent already.
I'm really happy you're appreciating some of these 70's CLASSICS! I love your reactions - you're seriously dissecting the segments and commenting, I love that! I've followed this group and seen them in concert several times. They are JUST AS powerful live as the recordings. Excellent musicality. Released 1977 and Phillip Bailey is the high tone brother.
"Live love forever"...my favorite line in this joint. I am enjoying you enjoying this masterpiece from my younger days! Words cannot describe how their music 'ministered' to our generation. Check out their 'I AM' album.., very spiritual. You probably heard 'In the Stone' from that album. Also another gem from another album is 'Be Ever Wonderful' ...

Phillip Bailey! I got the chills! They made beautiful music together! Always positive! It was the 70s baby!
Music from the '70s kicked major butt, no matter what the genre was. They were killing it back then.
That is so true! We didn't really think about genres, all the music was so good!

We really were spoiled for choice
Rip Maurice... EWF is the definition of soul/funk.....can't go wrong!

Ditto! I was 15 when this album dropped (Fall of '77). Just like all albums by EWF, Stevie, Rufus/Chaka Khan, Isley Bros, errybody had a copy.
This song is the dopest upbeat jam from EWF, IMO. This is just IT!!
I knew you were gonna love it!
EWF are excellent musicians and superb singers, no fakery. Its the 70's.
Earth Wind and Fire are the truth.
There are so many hits by them. Devotion is one of my favorites, vocals unmatched.

I grew up back then when those tunes came out. No one could ever have imagined back then that people would still be listening to them.
My dad bought this when I was 5. I stared at the album cover for hours while listening to this. My childhood musical education.
The Elements Earth , Wind & Fire . All of their records had hits. Listen to *Devotion & Sun Goddess off Gratitude

The issue is ppl are stuck in the 90s nostalgia and missing 70s and 80s music.
I'm really happy you're appreciating some of these 70's CLASSICS! I love your reactions - you're seriously dissecting the segments and commenting, I love that!
