I'm making a playlist of the 100s to a 1000 or so particular video game songs that have TRULY stood out to me out of the gazillion I've been listening to on a quite regular basis since the 1980s. I'm not really actively hunting them down, just adding them to the list as they pop into either my head or a web browser. Time to add this one to the ongoing list. Completely timeless and unforgettable.

The shift sound of the sprint function on your suit, the combine gunshots ringing out in the distance towards you, the splash of the water while the song is muffled, as said bullets pushed crates and exploded barrels around you... ALL of this was game changing at the time. People will never know just how ahead of the curve this shit was. There's a reason why some still images of the Source engine still hold up to this day. It's the same jump in technology from the PS2/Xbox era to the PS3/360. Past that, there's only so many polgyons to make a great imagine look "slightly greater".
This really sounds like a theme song for all of Ｈλｌｆ － ｌｉｆｅ ２,it feels calm at first but you know you are ready for something that is for sure coming,then comes the action when the combine start to chase after you,and from here,the hurry of a journey this game is starts.
The funny part is that one of the music parts they put in here makes my headphones vibrate when the beat drops at the start. Feels and sounds realistic.
This is by far my favorite half life song, it’s intense and kinda unsettling, for me i imagine jumping from train to train for some reason, or mirrors edge vibes.
