These music composers for these games are very talented. Half Life has got some of the best industrial beats. I also just played a random freeware doom mod game called Ashes 2063 and was blown away by the soundtrack on that. Cyberpunk 2077 has an excellent soundtrack also.

On my end it was the party setting up defenses for an incoming swarm of huge monstrosities (that happen to be HL2 striders). They had 4 days before they arrived, and I like to believe the music boosted their creativity because jfc the swarm got played hard by the traps, fortifications and positionings they had set up until they had evacuated all the injured soldiers and proceeded to escape narrowly the strider onslaught.

i played this during one of our DND campaigns. it had nothing to do with halflife, it was just a more futuristic setting instead of medieval style. my group loved it.
