After this tour Slayer rarely played this song because Jeff hated it. It's always been one of my favorite songs.
It makes you wonder why?well taste it seems it's subjective.I also thing it's one mothafuckin catchy song!

This song is defenetly one of the best Lombardo performances with slayer, this song is an eternal mid tempo with amazing fils all over the place, and Lombardo flawless drumming fells like a pure jam session for the guy. Incredible. This live performance during their peak is pure gold.

Lombardo was always a beast, but on South of Heaven and Seasons he reached his absolute peak. His drumming just was incredible.

@@cmurphy0707 yeah, wikipedia did say that Kerry loved the song and wanted to play it often, but it was rarely played because Jeff hated it.
Nothing can top "South of Heaven" as masterpiece of art. Both sides are conceived as Classical suites, the sequence of pieces obbey a coherent order. Thank you Rick Rubin!

Exactly! It makes no sense to me because "Cleanse The Soul" is where you get a little bit of "Reign In Blood" style back onto the South of Heaven CD. BOTH SONGS ARE GREAT!

Did you youngsters know that some of the in game music from the classic game DOOM was based on parts of heavy metal songs. This is one of them. Episode 3 Mission 3 of Doom has you killing the demons of hell to a digitized version of this song. Another reason why Doom was such an essential part of my existence.
