I remember going to what you guys would call "high school" and this being on the top 20 chart nationwide here in Norway
I was at the front row on that concert :D
They always are very impressive, but with orchestra and choir they are more epic. I like to see you blown away by these requests (that sound sus 😂). Great reaction as always.
haha yea this was wild!!! Yea I be getting blown away real good! 😂
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Dimmu and Epica, f*cking incredible music! 🙂🤘
Next song by Dimmu: Born Treacherous
Next by Epica: Victims of Contingency (Omega Alive) (Official video)
Dimmu Borgir basically writes classical music with a backing black metal band. The orchestra plays the melody throughout. And yeah, they're a Bucket List performance.
We definitly need more DIMMU!!!
This was wild!
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody You should do: Dimmu Borgir - The Insight Ind The Catharsis [Live In Wacken 2007] (this is with ICS Vortex, the bass player and the most beautiful voice ever!!!!).
I wasn't at this concert, but did witness them at Wacken with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra 😊
Bet it was amazing
I've seen these guys live like 4 times, in small, large and huge venues, all of them were epic and great, remember fondly each one of them, one of my fav bands
A much better track record than I. I've seen them twice and both times were epically bad, although these were the "golden age of Dimmu Borgir line-up then". First time in 2005 at the Fury Fest (then soon to become Hellfest), and the playing conditions were not great that day, but Samael and Epica had both just pushed through so I thought Dimmu would be gravy, and I was SO excited to see them (after watching their DVD World Misanthropy over and over, I kinda had expectations), but boy, they not only didn't wanna be there, the sound was so bad it took me till the chorus to recognize Vredesbyrd. I blamed the festival conditions and gave it another try a couple of years later, this time on a tour with Amon Amarth ( not nearly as well know at the time), and playing at a venue. They also didn't wanna be there, Shagrath was out of breath and putting in the least amount of effort possible. Vortex and Galder were the only two "trying". Amon Amarth stole the show though so it was still a good time. It's just a huge downer when one of your favourite bands, known for their epic live shows, fail to deliver.
I am yet to be able to give them an honest "3rd try" live but since the new album just came out, perhaps on a tour supporting it.
I remember when I first heard this track on Total Rock Radio, aged 16 in 2003, and I was blown away.. I was a Dimmu fan already, and this was before their 'Death Cult Armageddon' release. I was also inspired symphonic metal, as I was and still am a keyboardist, and was massively inspired by tracks like this. When the live version came out, I again was blown away twice by this incredible song. Great reaction, and thank you from the UK.
Yo thanks for sharing dude. Its so cool how music effects us. Much love dude
A fun fact, "Dimmu Borgir" is a volcanic formation in the North of Iceland and means "Dark Fortress"
Speaking of Iceland, they have produced some incredible musicians/bands. If you want something really different, look at the live performance of Sigur Ros doing "Olsen Olsen" from their DVD "Heima", the music and scenery of Iceland is just magical! SR was my inspiration to visit Iceland in 2013.
I also recommend Solstafir's "Farja", the official video is very cool, they are along the lines of Dimmu Borgir.
On the "classical" side anything by Olafur Arnalds is just beautiful!
trumpet !!!! 😍🥰🤩
Just look at all this beautiful people making music together! Isn´t it wonderful?
I know Will Ramos and Austin Archey from Lorna Shore is often on podcasts and interviews on RUclips. 92 people on stage for this concert. The national opera choir and the orchestra is the most famous in Norway. It think it translates to the Norwegian Broadcast Orchestra.
And now the other masterpiece, Kings of the carnival creation. Then The insight and the Catharsis. Enjoy.
This was a awesome consert, Remeber i walked out of Oslo Spektrum where they did this with a big smile on my face ! 🤘
You should check out following videos of Dimmu Borgir: Interdimensional Summit (kinda Sisters of Mercy on black metal vibe) and Sacrilegous Scorn, as well as Serpentine Offering, Mourning Palace...
You can’t listen to that and not just be ready to rush into a goddamn LOTR battle!
Insight and The Catharsis by Dimmu live at Wacken is incredible live performance that you would probably love.
Just added it to my list.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody can’t wait for you to check it bud! Hope you enjoy!
I was at this concert, it was epic! 🤩
Yeah it's a great performance that chorus part was done originally by vortex solo. They had to hire the whole choir to replace him.
Wait who is this Vortex dude
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody ics vortex the old bassist. Often heard in Borknagar and other projects.
Thanks!
Dude! no need. I'm just glad you are here friend. You are one of my OG folks. thanks for putting up with me for this long.
Such a great song and band. They are great live! Check out the song Sorgen's Kammer Del 2 or Entrance by them.
Im curious to dive into more😊
My favorite band... love these guys... hopefully imma see them live at least once before i die.
that would be soooo great!
Great musicians
indeed! I loved this.
This was the most frantically sought after concer ticket in the world. Dimmu fans all over the world went nuts to see the band in Oslo. Might be remembering this wrong, but I think it was aired live on NRK, the Norwegian State governed tv channel.
I bet it was an amazing show!
mourning palace from the same show is even better
Emperor with strengt i burn live Wacken 2006 if you want er epicness
this song always blows me away
this was insane!
Love Dimmu, seen them live here in Norway 🤘🤩
hell yea! That has to of been an amazing experience
They can throw an entire choir in there, but all those people will never replace the amazing voice of ICS Vortex (listen to the studio version to know what I mean).
Ha, i was going to recommend this to you too, killer song but the studio version is better as it has Vortex on clean vocals, youd love it too, his voice is killer.
And that is also why he should do Winter Thrice!
@@KraakesolvYes, Borknagar - Winter Thrice is epic too
@@chilliwilliams2525Ohhh I got a treat for ya coming.
I recommended this version because of the orchestral elements. I wouldn't say better, but the studio version is amazing, and this one is just built different.
@TheWolffAndTheMelody This intrigues me bro 😉
Epic track, first heard this song years ago on the headbangers ball compilation album. Always felt it had that Danny elfman feel to it..
Check out the main theme from the Hellraiser 2 soundtrack by Christopher Young 🤔
YES!!!!!! DIMMU F&UCKIN' BORGIR!!!!!
YESSSSSS
Thank you for this reaction. I thought you would enjoy this. I know many say the original music video is "better". I don't compare this to the original because it is simply different, and the original music video is awesome.
We will have to do the og video as well
You should check the song with ics vortex on backing vocals, a thousand voices cant replace him
I will indeed, where is he today?
@@TheWolffAndTheMelodytoday he is part of borknagar another fantastic band you should check out :)
@@TheWolffAndTheMelodyHe's with Borknagar and they just released a new song. Beautiful!
This was really cool. Indeed epic. The interviews sound like a really cool idea. By the way, your Patreon link is not working. Just thought you should know.
Ya I think interviews will be fun for us, also let me check it out.
Just saw it was my old link. Its all good now😊
@TheWolffAndTheMelody Yea I just got signed up. I put my song reaction up,looking forward to hearing your reaction when my turn comes up.
Even though this is a great song I hate how the YT algorithm only recommends two songs of theirs but you really should checkout basically anything from their Puritanical album aside from the intro & outro songs, and a couple songs from 'In Sorte Diaboli' album.
Can you give me your top 3 songs to check out?
The whole choir can’t replace Vortex.
Mustis and ICS Vortex are missing but nonetheless this is a great song plus the studio version is with Nicholas Barker, outstanding drummer! \m/
I have no idea who they are, but this was wild.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Mustis was on keyboard and Vortex was vocals/bass when this song was released at the time, you should listen the studio version, or maybe see 66Samus perform Dimmu Borgir drum covers, you'll be amazed
@TheWolffAndTheMelody when they played these concerts, the joke was they needed a full choir and a symphony orchestra to replace Mustis and Vortex 😂
Vortex also sings in Borknagar, which I've been requesting from every reactor for a good while now. I hope you'll check them out!
This is the older better Dimmu in my opinion. Anything from this album will give you the same reaction. Thanks
They played the same song on this concert that you first reacted to a few weeks ago, and I have to say that the live version is several times better than the music video.
This is a good performance, but nothing beats the performance of the "old" Dimmu lineup from wacken 2007. Not even the whole orchestra can replace ICS Vortex and Mustis. You should definitely check it out.
It’s not nearly as awesome without Vortex. Not sure how people like it better with the choir. It’s just not as good.
