    Lyrics: Progenies of The Great Apokalypse
    The battle raged on and on
    Fuelled by the venom of hatred for man
    Consistently, without the eyes to see
    By those who revel in sewer equally
    We, the prosperity of the future seal
    Cloaked by the thunders of the north wind
    Born to capture the essence of
    The trails of our kind
    Zero tolerance must be issued forth
    Behind the enemy's line
    So it shall be written
    And so it shall be done
    Discover and conceive the secret wealth
    And pass it unto your breed
    Become your own congregation
    Measure the sovereignty of it's invigoration
    We, who not deny the animal of our nature
    We, who yearn to preserve our liberation
    We, who face darkness in our hearts with a solemn fire
    We, who aspire to the truth and pursue it's strength
    Are we not the undisputed prodigy of warfare
    Fearing all the mediocrity that they possess
    Should we not hunt the bastards down with our might
    Reinforce and claim the throne that is rightfully ours
    Consider the god we could be without the grace
    Once and for all
    Diminish the sub principle and leave it's toxic trace
    Once and for all

    The Mourning Palace is their song par excellence. I recommend you check out the live version that they released a couple of months ago. "Dimmu Borgir - Mourning Palace Live Forces of the Northern Night". The song is amazing, but live is another thing! love it

    Progenies of the Great Apocalypse is hands down the best Dimmu Borgir song there is (well, aside Mourning Palace), but I seriously dislike the music video version, as it's almost two minutes shorter than the legit song. The full 5+ minutes long song has more room to breathe and an extended orchestral breakdown.
    The bassist ICS Vortex was pretty much my favorite part of the band, and I stopped caring for DB when he quit. Fortunately he has other musical projects nowadays, like Borknagar and Arcturus. Here's a song from Borknagar, Winter Thrice (yes this was an overly long plug for you to listen to Borknagar) ruclips.net/video/NDrrKv2wjvk/видео.html

      Second the Borknagar - Winter Thrice suggestion. They’re a sort of Norwegian folk/black/progressive metal supergroup whose current roster also includes dudes from Solefald, Vintersorg and Ulver (albeit briefly).

    Dimmu Borgir is one of my favorite bands, thanks for that! You should check Gateways or Dimmu Borgir next.
    The bassist now sings in Borknagar, I recommend the song Winter Thrice.
    Another subgenre that I think you'll enjoy is Atmospheric Black Metal, I would recommend hearing In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion by Agalloch.
    Keep up the good work!

    • @Darkey23
      @Darkey23 6 лет назад

      Agalloch as a recommendation fore melodic Black Metal is kind of a stretch, don't you think?

    • @lucassvaz

      Darkey23 more melodic in the sense of being very melodic, I know they are Atmospheric Black Metal :)

    • @Darkey23
      @Darkey23 6 лет назад +1

      Given that they came from a progressive metal background and used tons of influences from post-rock to black metal, i'd say they're not a good band to get into black metal at all. I love their music, sure - but if those guys don't know much about black metal, they should listen to the actual thing, not some offshoot.

    • @lucassvaz
      @lucassvaz 6 лет назад

    It's no surprise the keyboards were good - Mustis was the composer of this song. For this line-up of Dimmu Borgir at high-octane though, you need to go back to the previous album Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia and listen to the track Kings of the Carnival Creation.

  • @jcrosato
    @jcrosato 6 лет назад

    This is Symphonic Black Metal, and Belphegor is actual Blacked Death Metal (A mix of Death metal with black metal).
    I am not a huge black metal guy, I only like the occasional black metal here and there..
    You won't find a "music video" but I recommend listening to:
    Bathory - A Fine Day To Die
    either on your own time or on the channel (Don't need to watch nice moving pictures all the time!).
    They (He) pretty much started Black Metal, and later on Viking Metal. Pretty interesting stuff.
    Aside from that, some other rare occasions of me liking Black Metal:
    Primordial - Coffin Ships
    Satyricon - Mother North
    Belphegor - Swarm Of Rats (Great song actually, give em another shot! :) )
    Emperor - I am The Black Wizards
    Cradle of Filth - Cruelty Brought Thee Orchards (Goth Metal, but it gets lumped in Black Metal by most people, and I dislike it just as much as Black Metal lol)

    Symphonic Black Metal. I think Dimmu's take on it is rather over the top but I'll admit that there are likely many bands I've never even heard of, so there could be others who take 'theatricality' even further :P

    This was the first song I'd heard by the band and I absolutely loved it. Having never listened to a full CD by the band I can say what songs I have heard I haven't liked as much as this. But this would be considered Symphonic Black Metal. Same with Gorgoroth I love the song Carving the Giants, because I love Ghaal's vocals, not overly familiar with their other vocalist. Same as I loved Ghaal's Godseed album.

    It is a band that is around since the 90s. So a lot of work there is. In the beginning they made more a style of Black Metal, now it is still Black Metal undertone with a lot of more Symphonic elements. For really old stuff I would suggest : "Raabjørn Speiler Draugheimens Skodde of the album For All Tid and "Stormblåst" the title track of the album with the same name . One album later (Enthrone Darkness Triumphant) " In Death's Embrace" and from the same album "A Succubus in Rapture" ruclips.net/video/OOH-6W0MPRw/видео.html. and "Tormentor Of Christian Souls" ruclips.net/video/11o27obZF8c/видео.html. The last song will for sure raise the eyebrows but you ll feel the urge to bang your head.

    With this particular lineup, I'd say Maelstrom Mephisto is one of their best. In general, I'd say that the album previous to the one containing "Progenies" is their strongest effort with this band configuration. It's called "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia". In earlier incarnations, all the tracks from Enthrone Darkness Triumphant are great. In the modern era, the song "Dimmu Borgir" might be to your liking, as it verges upon Viking Metal. ruclips.net/video/2c7cG91RbIM/видео.html

    This song basically portraits Dimmu Borgir's downfall, ending up with nick and others leaving. Their older works would be a better fit for a review.

      I heard of the band but black metal has never been my thing, so never really bother with it.
