- Time to go over one of the hardest to research jobs in the game. Despite its origins likely beginning in the 6th Astral Era I had very little to go off of and even fewer visuals to provide for obvious reasons. But hopefully this gives you a better understanding of their history and methods!

Ninja's, and especially your last note in the lesson reminds me of the Way of the Assassin Codex from Dragon Age: Inquisition.
"You misunderstand the point of secrecy. Of course they knew that I was there-one of their number was dead. It is never the aim that they are ignorant to my purpose or presence. Death is, after all, a message, and messages are meant to be received. It is paramount that the arrival remain secret, not the result. They know what may come, but never when-until the answer is "now" and there is naught they can do but receive."
Very insightful! I did always enjoy the writing in the Dragon Age games.
Playing as a Ninja in FFXIV feels now different after watching this video. Good lore video!
Do the "what it means to be a gunbreaker" next please, and great content btw,we really needed something like this, keep up the good work!
I'd love to do Gunbreaker and Dancer, but unfortunately I only have the job quest to go by at the moment. I really wanna do them justice, and to do that I need a bit more data.
@@SynodicScribe Would Bozja questline provide more information on gunbreaker ?
No.
Very cool :) I became a ninja because of Yugiri, but their abilities are so cool its become super enjoyable.
If you Ninja correctly, people won’t know if you’ve ninja’d at all :3
I actually had a lotta fun levelling ninja once I remembered the mudras.
You're like the Fudgemuppet of FFXIV, subbed like right away lol
That's high praise, I love Fudgemuppet!
@@SynodicScribeA year later, but the Fudgemuppet comparison is apt.
This deserves a lot more views
Another great lore video for us, thank you.
I go with a White Fang look. The lupine helm, the ash white coat, the small bit of jade necklace for just a little pop.
While the Ninjas of Doma hide in the shadows, the Warrior of Light hides within the light.
This is awesome, I would love to see a what it means to be warrior
warriors have really cool lore as well!
Fell cleave go brrrr.... anything else you wanna know?
I dress my Ninja like some random merchants in Doma, and smh towards all edgy shiny Ninjas
Blending in with the crowd like a true shinobi!
One of the Shinobi-iri (methods of infiltration) the Shichihoudei or the 7 different disguises a shinobi uses. Very good
@@Auream1991 Standard garb and a full mask when on the job.
My Ninja looks like a Pirate, it makes it easier deal with the more unsavory types of the land.
I glamour on the gear I arrived in Eorzea with
Wild that there are ninjas in crystal tower
theyw ere there originally and its where you got the ninja job as well.
Straight from the shadows and into to the Darkness, I vote Dark Knight for the next job-lore video!
...You know you want to... heed The Dark within your being!
I can’t wait for Samurai and Gunbreaker!!
What is the lore behind "stealth" do they literally become invisible? A manipulation of aether or?
I will kinda get into spoilers with this but...
I think what Thancred did against Ran'jiit is a form of stealth, where he used his very limited aether control to basically delete his presence. Stealth just being a more controlled version of it along with natural skill to just disappear in a crowd.
Sasuke saved another village. Hero we need.
I wish you would do the break down of the story arc all the way from Rogue to cap off of ninja. I don't know exactly why but I feel that this was a lack luster line. And i main ninja i often feel the Devs forget about us
Can you please do a video about The Twelve?
That's actually in the works! It's a BIG one
Fav job along with thf!
Maybe sasukes blades are based on this legend for our relic
If I recall correctly, (and I don't know if I do) Sasuke's blades were recovered after he took down the corrupt ruler. There was a chest within the Kings treasure collection, within the chest were a pair of blades.
This was Sasuke's reward and the blades were named after him. They were then passed down through his descendants after he passed away.
Niiice finally ^^
Other than the WoL if they are a ninja, everyone knows who we are...
Anyone know exactly where Ninja keep their endless supply of throwing knives and shuriken?
Yes.
My headcanon is that they just summon whatever tools they need through scrolls/summoning jutsus
I've always thought it was an aetheric projection
Yep thats a true ninja. Get in blend in big boom get out.
muda muda
in FF14 we mudra mudra mudra
to summon Kassatsu rabbit
Warrior of Light must be the worst ninja then. Everyone knows who we "assasinate".
Yeaaaaaaaah hard to be an unknown and mysterious shinobi when an entire country practically bends a knee to your might. But at least our enemies never know where we might be or when we might STRIKE!
@@SynodicScribe its also you know passing on the lessons for the future
If we're talking about "In-in no jutsu" (ninpo strategies of the dark) there could be an argument for that, but ninja specialty was survival as per the name literally translating to "one who endures" they had a back up plans if they were made aware of by there enemies and they deliberately made there existence known as Scribe very briefly mentioned this was called "Yonin no jutsu" (ninpo strategies of the light) creating myths about themselves to intimidate and make enemies think twice about invading. Like Hattori Hanzo of the Iga or Akutagawa Kurozaemon Yoshimichi of the Koga. Fortunately for the WoL magic and super powers are real so the myths built around them are true lol! But even if we remove Yonin no jutsu from the equation the story is interestingly written in a way that supports the ninja fantasy in In-nin no jutsu. We get ninja job in ARR where we are noobs and people only begin to suspect we are a legendary WoL then in Heavensward the dragons couldn't care less that we are the WoL or don't even mention it, we get to stormblood and the People of Othard haven't heard of the WoL or don't care because they never did anything to liberate them or help them until the end of the Expansion. And in Shadowbringers not only do the people hate the WoL but we can't reveal where we are from or that we are the WoL or the WoD so we may avoid being targeted but people who are out for our blood until the end. And during these events there's stealth instances and instances where we knock out guards and take there armor to infiltrate there strong holds and sabotage them and quests enter we have to use secret passwords to enter secretive underground organizations. I'd say Yoshi P and crew were very ninja like 😉 in there recognition of the ninja fantasy for players that main the class and wanted to feel like they're playing the role of a Ninja while they're playing through the story. Yoshi is a Boss.
@@Chibibushi After going through all of the expansions, yeah, youre right, our WoL is very ninja like. Hell, u can give a guy a sandwich and they wont know that the primal killing badass was serving them food until someone points it out.
(Sadly like Thancred, I went from a Rogue to Gunbreaker)
who tf is this king "Psy-end"?
That’s my nindo, my ninja way!
Just saying...if you're in a end ShB fate or doing a rough dungeon or raid boss; playing Naruto battle music especially ending #2. Is like triggering inner beast with warrior. Just get into the thick of it lvl capped and see for yourself :)
Opening 3! Opening 3! My Bad
...
If the Ninjutsu "started appearing in the fires of conflict before turning to the shadows", does that mean they were basically like Naruto at that point? I mean, I could see that happening, with some people discovering the mudra patterns and using for warfare, then realizing that they're better suited for furtivity at one point. That would mean however that there could be some lost mudra art we might not know about, like a certain pattern involving the "forbidden mudra", like the true summoning we have in the different quests, or more wild things such as putting water, air or electricity aether to your feet, defy the laws of gravity and stand on walls, water, or the sky itself, and possibly even more should other mudra be discovered(after all, why would there be only four?). This is only speculation, of course, since we might never be able to see more inventions of the art, as the Shinobi are by the design of their ancestors not experimental in nature. After all, we've seen time and time again that discoveries of such hidden powers within the world could lead to destruction or worse, calamities, as we've seen in the Allagans, the Mhachi, the Primals(and some I can't mention because of spoilers for Heavensward, Shadowbringers and Endwalker)...
"they might learn from a Mentor"
