I bought a vintage beat up Craftsman table saw and these are things I need to know if I'm going to do anything halfway decent with it. Thanks for your videos.

The sliding carriage is slightly higher than the fixed table, to avoid drag.

You should be be checking the cut offs with calipers ..not a tape measure.

I did mention that you should use calipers however I mine is digital and the battery was dead, most of the people who watch my videos will not need calipers, as long as they get an accurate reading on the diagonal measurement, they will be fine.

@@AnthonyScolaro1 I kind of disagree. I a newbie woodworker and I use calibers all the time. Most tape measures only go down to the 1/16th of an inch...so if you are some where in between, is it 1/32nd or maybe 1/64th? Calipers take all the guess work out. Also, a decent pair of calipers, are fairly cheap. just my opinion. Regardless, thank you for sharing

@@Zamboni-0805 I agree that regardless of skill level you should use calipers for this but what I meant is that a majority of the people watching this channel will most likely not have or ever buy calipers for this. So I kept it general and mentioned using calipers for those people like yourself that will use them.
