This was the best tutorial I’ve watched!! Just saved me from throwing away a newish saw! I’ve had it for a year and I thought it came out of the box cutting bad but figured there was nothing I could do.
Best , most thorough and easiest to understand tutorial on all of you tube for mitre saw calibration ....in my opinion. Well spoken and interesting....thumbs up 👍👍👍

I really enjoyed this video. I now know how to calibrate my 1-fence miter saw. Btw- I never would have guessed you were British, I understood you 100% of the time! I can't stand to listen to instructional videos by foreigners because I often get lost on their pronounciation of words but NOT you! Thank You So much from an American, for this video and your clear speech!
Hi my name is Kevin from Aus as I am a mechanical engineer for over 50 years I enjoyed watching you aline your saws you gave a good discretion of wat you were doing in detail , in my case I use a dial gauge to line up my saws blades congratulations to you well done Kevin
Newbie woodworker, no experience with tools and learning as I go. Please can I take you home for a week?! I’m so impressed, you explained so clearly and didn’t talk too fast. I didn’t have to keep stopping so that my tiny brain could absorb what you said and you used words I understood. Thank you so so much. Subbed.
I’ve tried a lot of sliding miter saws. No matter how well calibrated, they are flimsy aluminum and plastic things that can easily be pulled or pushed off the line by your own arm pulling on the saw handle. So I just bought myself a 500 pound DeWalt radial arm saw made in 1953, and calibrated that massive and well built iron monster. It never strays off the line.
I have watched your video several times now and it’s been very helpful in letting me know how to tune a DeWalt sliding Mitre saw my nephew has. It just goes to show that while you expect the new saw you bought to be accurate it’s always a good idea to check and make sure it is. When I get my new garage built I’ll be buying a new 12” Mitre saw and I’ve saved your instructional video to refer to in the future. You explained what to do step by step slowly and simply and it was easy to follow. Well done and as I did in a reply to a comment on thumbs I give you only thumbs up👍👍👍👍👍

Awesome! I recently built a coffee table with my Dewalt saw. While making it I noticed some of the cuts didn't look square and it really showed up on the final assembly of the table. I used this video to fix the saws alignment and now we're cooking with gas.
Purchased a Dewalt Miter-saw and noticed the cuts were not square. I knew it needed adjusted but really didn’t know how. Now I do. Great Video!! I’m a a fan and subscriber.. Thank You!!!
Thank you, I was doing my head in working out what was wrong with my mitres on an old cheap drop saw, so I went ahead and purchased a 600 usd metabo 305 and it was out of square straight out of the box, brought a magnetic level box and will be calibrating the saw soon, no more strange skirting and trim cuts, no more wasted timber.
Thank you so much for this information. I thought I'd lost my touch for cutting trim when I got my new Ryobi miter saw, but turns out the fence or locks may need adjustment. Have to check everything out and adjust as needed.

I checked my table saw, which was as close to perfect as I could ever hope. I never thought to check my new miter saw. Guess what I’m doing in the next 5 minutes. Thanks for the clear instructions on making all the needed adjustments.
@@TrainingHandsAcademy I watched many videos on how to properly setup a miter saw and i have to say i learned the most from you. you explain very clearly how and what to look for which is 100% Perfect thank you. Good job, dude. To the point and supported by real how-to examples. Beside explaining how to adjust miter saws, you should explain to the millions of DIY's on RUclips how to present without all the crap, stories, and self-promoting they add to their vids.
Great video. Clear and concise. You cover everything about adjusting your miter saw except what I find wrong with mine. When I first bought the new saw I had to make a slight adjustment to cut square. 45 degree miters and 45 bevel cut are fine by themselves. However when I cut a compound angle with the bevel at 45 and miter at 45 the miter is way off. Am I using it wrong or is there something inherently wrong with the saw?
That's a tough one... normally if the 45's and 90's are good, everything in between is good too. Not sure what that would be? You can send me a video on IG if you want of your problem.
Awesome instructions. Many thanks. Nothing so annoying as buying a pretty expensive miter saw and still not having accurate cuts. No problem anymore thanks to these instructions.
@@TrainingHandsAcademy Hi Josh, just want to tell you after following this instruction video, my mitre saw cut perfectly square. Man, I'm so happy. All of your videos are very useful for newbie woodworker like me, keep it coming!! Thank you thank you and thank you :)

Hi. Very well presented. I have a situation. I followed your instructions for squaring at 90 degrees and I came up with this problem. I put my piece against the fence and made the cut and then I put my square against the piece and I got perfect angle. But as I turned the piece to the opposite side and then check the square , I noticed a big gap. I appreciate if you instruct me as what I should do. Thanks

7:38 if you do this, make sure you cut 2 pieces from the same side, otherwise they will always be complimentary/supplementary angles and will add to 90/180 degrees even if the saw is off.
Great video but after you have done every to possibly get the saw as accurate as possible what's keeping the blade from making the mistake as you said the dewalt has the bigger blades that tend to wable. So if the blade has wabble won't it effect the accuracy of the cut? If it does what can you do to minimize the effect??

loved your video, i dont usually need precision so my 20 year old craftsman saw setup has been fine, but i wanted to make a frame for a gift and the one piece fence was way too far out to cut accurate 45s.. so i tried to adjust it like you suggest but when i tighten down the nut right at the end it pulls it out of alignment.. i even tried clamping it down but that final tighten pulls it out.. have you got any ideas on how to deal with that? i used a playing card on the fence to cut my frame pieces and that worked but i would love to dial it in perfectly.. thanks again for your great video
Yes, I have a saw that likes to do that as well. I normally put a clamp on it while I tighten, but if you can't get that to work, you might have to over correct in the direction of your tightening, so that it ends up exactly where you need it once your done. You might have to do this a few times, but you'll get it.
Quite a useful video.I am NOT a woodworker but sell recycled wood and make trellises etc. My cuts are beginning to look like I'm making the side of a bird box. Hope this informative video helps me.,
Thank you for creating such an informative video. Your simple and straight forward explanations and directions have given me the knowledge I need to calibrate my miter saw.
Very very nice lesson. I had a lil' hard time calibrating my miter-saw though. Also a different brand and ... I'm as amateur can be, så perhaps that should be included in the overall equation😄
First: Believe it or not: THIS is THE best video in "explaining" it; that woodworkers NEED; that I've seen since RUclips came on the air. Thank you kind Sir. Second: I bought one of those DeWalt saws brand new; from Home Depot. And from the day I used it; the degrees were off. And get this: the screws were so hard to unscrew; I was afraid of buggering the thing. So I just lived with it; by correcting the error manually, each time. But I am so pleased with how you did it; that I am going to get those screws loose (if I have to grind them off) and make it right. Thanks again kind Sir. Thirdly: WHY in the pluperfect hallelujah didn't DeWalt do it right; at the damned manufacture; since they have the means to do it perfectly. Damn their hides. End of Story. Dadgum "Nut-heads!" For they need to be given "one way tickets" to Pluto; and make NASA put them on their next "Voyager". OH Yeah! And "GOOD RIDDANCE!" Whooopeee!

Thanks for watching Joey!
Quite a useful video.I am NOT a woodworker but sell recycled wood and make trellises etc. My cuts are beginning to look like I'm making the side of a bird box. Hope this informative video helps me.,
Let me how it turns out once you calibrate!
@@TrainingHandsAcademy haha that'll be Christmas!!!
Thank you for creating such an informative video. Your simple and straight forward explanations and directions have given me the knowledge I need to calibrate my miter saw.
Awesome Bill. Let me know how it turns out.
Absolutely excellent tutorial. Many thanks indeed.

Great video.
MIND Boggling awesomeness!! Wished I knew this oh,… 40+ years ago! LOL.
Very very nice lesson. I had a lil' hard time calibrating my miter-saw though. Also a different brand and ... I'm as amateur can be, så perhaps that should be included in the overall equation😄
Excellent video! Great job!👍
First:
Believe it or not: THIS is THE best video in "explaining" it; that woodworkers NEED; that I've seen since RUclips came on the air.
