Great video. The thing I love about flying is there is always something new to learn. Google luck with your skills tests (if you haven’t done them yet). 👍
Hi Nick. I had to do my SSEA to be able to fly my New Sting s4. I completed mine in December. It was well, well worth it. It's weird also being able flying bigger stuff. Well done for doing yours Nick.
As always, a fantastic video mate. Those PA-28s seem to go on and on, I’m guessing a 70s/80s airframe? A testament to how well they are built. Great landing btw. James
Thanks for watching James! G-LFSI is a 1970 model Cherokee 140 except she had a power upgrade to 160 so climb performance and cruise are both improved. They have lasted well - you really wouldn't know the age by how it flies but then again the maintenance costs are pretty eye watering compared to Microlights! I've had a couple of monster bills already. Landing was definitely the only bit of the training that was different due to the fact that they drop like a stone compared to a microlight and the gear is a lot further down so you touch down earlier than expected but apart from that they fly pretty much the same! Looking forward to seeing how I get on with it on a days flying to see how it compares.
Did my PPL in 1997 in a PA-28, lovely aircraft, then shared owned a Slingsby T-67 then a Grumman AA5, all at Sherburn Aero Club, Yorkshire, sadly at age 73 now my PPL annual Medical is no more😢, love the Channel BTW
Exactly what I was looking for. I want to gain my M on Flex wing, add three axis, then add this on. Years ago I got over 20 hours in a Warrior so would be comfortable flying one with only a few hours.
Interesting. I learned to fly in 1987/88 on PA-28’s but have preferred microlight flying for no other reason than the sheer joy of being up there. I quickly lost interest when my flying school were encouraging Night Rating, IMC, Twin and so on. Who needs that sh1t when you can just enjoy being up there.
"Lovely PA28" is an oxymoron 😀 In the early '80s when our newly-acquired Chipmunk was in the hands of the engineers at Barton, I used to fly from Hawarden in their Chippy G-BARS and also the Tiger Moth. Now those (especially the Chippy) really ARE lovely aeroplanes! Worth searching one out once you are qualified. But as Don Graham, Lancs Aero Club CFI back in the '70s warned me - "it'll spoil you for anything else" He wasn't wrong, so be warned!
Ha 😅. Well it’s luxury inside compared to my Nynja but my heart belongs to G-NIIX I have to say. Who knows what’s on the cards for the future though! Maybe an RV or something a bit older… 🤷♂️
@@LetsGoFlying I should think G-NIIX is more fun to fly than the Cherrytree. RVs are well thought of though I've not flown one so can only go on what others say about them.
Nice video Nick 👌Little bit different and a great revision for me of my PA28 training just over a year ago, so thanks for that 🙂! I like Steve's instruction style , nicely measured and accurate , is he ex airline?
Glad you enjoyed it! Steve is indeed ex airlines. I gel with him very well as a student so it's made both of our lives somewhat easier I think! He's extremely patient and an all round gent!
Affirm, SSEA is UK only for now. It will be useful to have when the pathway re-opens to convert to a full PPL(A) again, which I am quite sure is coming at some point soon.
I would love to be able to migrate to flying PA28s but alas finance truncate that desire. If for nothing else I would be flying off of a tarmac runway and not confined to weeks of missed flying due to a waterlogged grass runway. Here in the south it is another day of deluge, with rain forecast every day until the end of the month. When will this weather every stop.
They are expensive to fly and I can also say now that they are expensive to own and maintain! This weather is truly depressing! I can’t wait until we have some lovely flyable days rather than marginal ones.
Up to! Weight and balance plays a big part of your calculations for any flight in these aircraft. It's easy to end up overweight! I doubt you could fly four big blokes in LFSI but two average chaps and two average females is certainly possible.
Oh my word, absolutely not! I’d be on rice and beans forever if that were the case! I think flying bigger aircraft has its place in my life and my channel but it remains to be seen just what that is yet!
It’s difficult to get a true perspective of because it’s such a small snapshot of a couple of circuits at the start of a session but what you have to remember is that I’m not very “polished” after years of operating out of small, grass, private strips and one of the things I’ve asked Steve to do is polish me up in general and I hadn’t flown LFSI in a few months when that was filmed so it was very good instruction from my perspective. He’s been fabulous all the way through and has every faith in my flying ability but I can be a little rough around the edges at times!
Well done Nick. I'm kicking around the idea of upgrading to SSEA too for the ability to take the whole family, so watching with interest
Thank you. Highly recommend it although anything with a certificate of airworthiness costs a fortune to run compared to microlights!
Absolutely brilliant Nick, I suppose it’s inevitable to upgrade and wanting to fly larger and heavier aircraft. 👌👌
Good luck for GST and Navigation 👊🏼

Very true! Both skills tests next week I hope! Thanks for watching!
Well Nick, looks like you are living the dream.... aviation wise, good luck.....you are gonna nail it 👏
Thanks Phil! Looking forward to the odd trip in LFSI!
@@LetsGoFlying looking forward to going along with you...... spectator wise that is 😂
You are doing well Nick, try and get into the habit of flying with one hand on the yoke 👍
Thank you! That's exactly what my instructor said actually!
Good luck Nick, living the dream buddy👍✌️😊🤗💜
Thanks 👍 I wouldn't say my maintenance bills for G-LFSI were "the dream" though! Pretty eye watering stuff I have to say!

Absolutely BRILLIANT! Keep up the great work
Thank you!
Nice to see you have joined the heavy lift brigade . Clive
Haha I'll just be an "honorary member" I think! It's a dear hobby when compared to microlights but I can absolutely understand the appeal!
On ya, Nick! Top stuff!
Thank you!
Exactly what I was looking for. I want to gain my M on Flex wing, add three axis, then add this on. Years ago I got over 20 hours in a Warrior so would be comfortable flying one with only a few hours.
As a non-pilot I cannot help but be in awe of your skills. Well done.
Thank you! It’s a skill that’s easily learnt with practise though.
Welcome to the BIG stuff Nick 😆 Good video sir.
Quite nice to see this from the backseat!
Thanks Cae!

Hi let’s go flying! I’m still trying to get into pilot training. Hopefully in the future I will be able to actually live my dream.
You can do it! Just keep chasing it and make positive steps to try and make it a reality. Good luck!

great job 👍
Thank you! 👍
Love your videos! This seems great! I didn't know you could fly these on a NPPL SSEA. How does the flying experience compare with the Nynja?
May I inquire as to the title of that wonderful guitar soliloquy at the start?
So the SSEA rating is practically the same limitations in MTOM and engine as the LAPL? The SSEA is a UK specialty if I'm not entirely wrong?

😮👏🏼 Does that mean 4 in a plane?
