- I love farm strips and this time we get to visit two new ones, both short and tight where I not only get to fly a tricky approach and get rewarded with some amazing ice cream, I also get to, unintentionally, shower a load of kids with stones.
So, join me today as together we go summer farm stripping in Kent.
Solleys is a famous brand of Kentish ice cream made to a special recipe on the lovely working farm at Ripple where we will be checking out the short farm strip located there and tasting their sweet ice cream straight from the on site parlour shop.
But first we’re off to Harringe Court Farm a 380 meter narrow grass strip that’s mainly used by microlights and from my PPR and briefing and with the wind blowing from the north today I’ve established that we’ll need to be landing on their runway 01 which has a slight down hill slope.
Harringe Court Farm is located just over 5 nautical miles to the west of Folkestone and about the same distance to the east of Ashford in Kent. It has a single grass runway 380 meters long by 10 meters wide oriented 01 / 19 it’s set in open farmland but with noise sensitive areas all around and a model flying club close to the 19 threshold, it is also home to the Kent Microlight Club.
The two strips I visit in this episode both require, PPR you can find details below:

My name is Terry Kent and I am a General Aviation PPL private pilot operating out of North Weald EGSX about 12 miles to the north east of London in the UK. Short Field is my channel focused on the lighter side of General Aviation including flight and airfield reviews, equipment unboxing and review plus all things private pilot related. I use various cameras to record my videos including GoPro and Insta 360 and stills and edit them in Adobe Premiere Pro, I am an animator as well and often use animations to describe situations more clearly I use Blender and Adobe After Effects for these. I always attempt to post my videos in the highest possible quality, normally 4k.
I fly a 2011 Pipersport two seat single engine aircraft that is also known as the PS28 or SportCruiser in the USA (America) it is know under the FAA as an LSA or Light Sport Aircraft and can be flown on a very basic license. In the UK it is a Part 21 airplane which requires a full licence but it's generally cheap to run, affordable maintenance and great value for money. It cruises at 100 to 105 knots and has superb short take off and landing or STOL capabilities. I visit farm strips, back country and short airfields, some of them dangerous and I try not to crash :-), as well as international airports and try to learn something new every time I fly.
I fly VFR and IFR as well as visual and instrument approaches.
My videos may give helpful information to pilots but please remember these are just for entertainment, I am not an instructor nor should anything shown in my videos be used for real world aviation, also the airfields I visit may have totally changed or even closed since the making of the video so always consult the latest information for your country.
If you enjoyed this video, please give it a ‘thumbs up’ and leave me a comment in the box below, I love to read them and I also like to hear what you like or dislike about my video. The fact that you can just walk in and make a coffee and sign the guest book when nobody’s about, and that how you talk about it is like it’s how all the little grass strip fields are… I never would have expected that! Very cool!
Some are better than others, must have a kettle.
Awesome. Well done
This is the best type of flying
You are living the dream my friend, what beautiful country side you have access to spending time around.
Fantastic video! I hope you know that you are inspiring the next generation of pilots and keeping GA alive. You may have sparked aviation curiosity in those children.
Thank you so much for your kind comment, so appreciated.
Hi Terry, nice video and glad you enjoyed the visit to our Farm. Next time you approach 02 from the West, extend your base until you are clear of the village and then approach final over the open farm land which means you have a slight dog leg turn to the right just before the campsite and then touch down. This avoids overflying properties in Ripple. Look forward to seeing you an your next visit.
Thank you so much for letting me visit and on such a busy afternoon, it was a really great day. I realise I got a few things wrong in the video, like the approach for which I apologise. I would love to come back and do it properly and to say "hi", it was such an honour. Hopefully I did a good job of showing how wonderful your farm is and what great ice-cream you make. I didn't get the guys name who cleared the runway, I thought it was you first of all but then realised it wasn't, he was very nice and so helpful, please pass on my thanks. Thanks again Richard really appreciated.
Wow, this channel is gold.
Cheers.
My hat off to you sir nice landing thanks for taking us along for the flight from USA,Ohio 👍🇺🇸 😎
Awesome, thank you sir for the wonderful comment, so appreciate this. Ohio is an amazing place to fly you are so lucky.
You sure earned that icecream at Solley's , Terry!...offset approach, caravans, cars, kids, cornfields... Glad there were no tearaways!
The ones that messed around got the stones Kyle :-)
@@ShortField I'm sure you were ready to shut her down real quick. The owners should have had that strip taped off hey. The gore and legal implications should a kid run into a prop are scary.
They looked like very interesting small strips Terry. Excellently produced as always and a joy to watch. I feature ice cream in mine tomorrow!
Thanks Tim, I'll be settling down around 8:45am to watch with a coffee.
I think you had the same flavour as me as well :-)
You are certainly producing a detailed list of the UKs farm strips. Loving the inclusion of checks. Haha, yes the "You can always go around song", brilliant.
Thank you Giles.
Pretty handy as a recce to what's operating.
Great bit of flying
Thank you.
Love your friendly laid back way of presenting portrays a fun way to fly
Thank you but I hate my accent and I'm always uming and arghing :-)
Nice to have an audience.
Great flight tutorial and a marvelous sense of humor.
Great, fun and different video!! Cool to see the country-side!
Sure is Doug. Thanks for watching and your valued comment.
Wow, I love this one!
I’m training to be a Sport Pilot, in a Czech SportCruiser! I live in a very large crowded city with lots of air traffic, far away from any farms with ice cream!
Flying and ice cream, my two favorite things 😊
What a flex😂. Amazing video man!!!
😀 Thanks for the watch and comment Miguel, hope I earnt your sub 👍
@@ShortField you sure did, enjoying your content, it motivates me to do the nppl :D
Greetings from Edinburgh!!
What an incredible adventure. Exceptional piloting skills! Thank you for sharing. Jeff (senior citizen, can no longer fly.)
What a wonderful comment so appreciated. Thank you
Another great video Terry. well done and thanks for sharing with us. 👍🏻
Great video Terry! Think I'd have to go for rum and raisin though....!
Thanks Rob, that's my wife's fav :-)
Great video again, thanks Terry! I feel your pain as well - decent coffee and then a pee is always my first thought when landing away! 😂
Thank you for your great comment and support. I have to admit, as I've got older I've had to decline coffee sometimes when visiting airfields (not because I don't want one) but mainly because I'm getting the bladder of a little girl :-)
Nice Video - thank you for making it - it is a joy landing on grass strips, especially if you can find a creamery - well played, Sir. Cheers! Mike in New Mexico USA '47 Stinson 108-1
Hi Terry, lovely video just seeing the smile on your face said it all. Love seeing the small airfields, basic but simply beautiful and as a Kent Lad I can't argue really enjoyed it, looking forward to your next offering.
Cheers Steve, I don't normally show much of my ugly mug but feel I need to add a bit more of my personality to these videos. Thank you so much for the kind comments buddy.
That was way cool and the ice cream looked amazing.
One of my favourite flights ever.
Brilliant video Terry, yet again demonstrating both you and the PS28s remarkable capabilities.
Cheers Chris for your always appreciated support. My next video is all about the Sport Cruiser :-)
@@ShortField well it just so happens I managed to blag a few hours in the righthand seat of a Sportcruiser........ and I am in love 😍, if only my lack of flying ability could do the aircraft justice !!! It will be interesting to watch the video compare it against your one, with all the "Bells & Whistles"
Love these farm strip videos Terry, really useful and interesting with lots of great info on visiting, cheers!
Thank you so much comments like this are so appreciated. Top man.
That was brilliant - really showing off the best of Britain! Did my PPL in '89 and Compton Abbas near Shaftesbury was my favourite x/c destination. Beautiful countryside, some interesting fly-ins and a restaurant too!
Amazing! I love the west country. Are you still flying?
@@ShortField Yes still at it! On 320s helping alleviate the US pilot shortage!
Both interesting strips, the former very pleasant, the latter, very interesting. Did I notice overhead wires near to those two trees on finals? Thanks for sharing, love that you take your own coffee! I'd take a flask😆😆😆
Thank you, yes good spot, I didn't see those wires until I watched the video back, they are always my biggest concern. I have actually thrown up before when I drank a coffee with off-milk in it at a strip once, since then I always have a few sachet's of decent stuff in my flight bag. Flask is a good idea too especially when they don't even have a kettle.
Hi Terry, thanks for the reply, as always youre welcome - thanks for posting.
Yeah I did wonder about those wires, they were almost invisible! Bit hairy that. That would always be my concern. If they can't be buried, in the past they could have brightly coloured sleeving put on them, do they still do that near to small airfields? 🤔🤔
Off milk? Yuk! Been there done that too. Some strips the toilets etc were pretty grim back in the day - at least we didn't have SARS2 to contend with though 🙄🙄🤡😆☹️😆 - that first bog looked mint, so did the kitchen😉👍👍
That second strip? Remarkable never seen owt like it!
@@musoseven8218 yes amazed with the quality of the toilet at Harringe :-)
👍👍😉😆😆😆👍👍
What a lovely place 😀 the toilet…❤️😆😆 brilliant! Thank‘s for sharing
Thanks for watching
Awesome trip there. Thanks for the ride along.
Brilliant. Thanks Terry. That final in to Solley's looked pretty scary to me. Nice one.
That was a memorable strip Ralph. Thank you for the kind comment, really appreciated.
Just found your channel after developing a lock-down fascination with US back-country flying videos. What a joy to see it alive and well in the UK. Green strips in our green and pleasant land certainly are tough to spot! Great content of an area I cycled in my youth- thanks.
Thank you Julian most appreciated comment sir.
Great flying Terry, those crops and the turn on short final had me nervous! Something to look forward to thanks again
Thank you so much
Beautiful Views. Cheers From Pelion, South Carolina. USA.
Thank you so much for the kind comment, US is the best place to fly GA.
What a very pleasing piece of viewing this was. Many thanks indeed. Once a pilot and then a dad, now I have a 13yo son who is flying mad and an 11yo daughter who shows some interest, and can't wait to show them this tonight. One day I'll get back up there - too busy at the moment. However, in the meantime it's lovely to have good people with great production skills and an entertaining story, just like you, to live vicariously through! Cheers from Sydney, David
What a wonderful comment so appreciated. Thank you David.
I really enjoy your videos Terry and of course your pictures. May have to get checked back out in the 152 and visit some smaller strips.
Thank you Murray, if you fly in anything that can't get into sub 500m strips you're missing alot of airfields.
Now, that's a fun day in sport aviation! Nice video, as always. Thanks for sharing.
I loved that day. Thank you
I came to RUclips to fix our Garage door and Stumbling over your chanel and loved it, excellent and interesting watch thank you.....just to add Garage door still not fixed !!!
Welcome aboard! That is so funny, thank you so much great amusing comment.
Great Video, I really enjoyed the Tour around Kent, thanks for sharing
Great video Terry 👌🏻 I’ve been into Ripple a few times now and ice cream was a great incentive to get Karen to come along for her first land away! Great little airfield and Steve is a smashing chap. Keep the videos coming, they’re great 👍🏻
Thanks Trev, certainly a great experience and thank you again for your kind comments and support.
Really enjoying your videos. Nice challenging strip. Keep it up!
Hi Terry. Loved you parking in the car park!
Thanks so much
This made me so happy, and incredibly, incredibly jealous hahaha
Thanks for the kind comments.
Good lord it looks tight at Ripple, especially with the high crops! Incredible fun though. If only I could manage it in the PA28 😬
Thanks for watching Noel. Yes bit near the limit for a PA28-140 but I reckon a light 180 could do it.
Hello
@@ShortField I agree. I’m sure a 180 could! 🙂
Hardly, plenty of room!
Really enjoy your videos Terry. Thanks for sharing your adventures. I’ve not flown real world for nigh on 25 years now but enjoy PC flight sims these days. I’m starting to visit some of the strips you fly in MSFS. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you, I love MSFS most of the little strips are on there although until they sort out that big tree scale issue some are not realistic. Thank you for the lovely comments.
I am hoping they do in MSFRS 2024.
@@ShortField
Those looked like two great fields to visit during what looked like a great day for flying. Thanks for sharing.
It was! Thanks Rob.
Wow...Brilliant...I want to be a pilots mate...Looks great fun...
Great clip! Love dropping into small strips, and how well you use VFR to make sure you have the field lined up for a nice safe landing! Keep it in the air.
❤ great video Terry, your pleasure of flying into those strips clearly comes over in the video. I’ve done Harringe a few times and you had it easy - you didn’t have to do a low pass to clear the sheep off the runway and then hope that they don’t wander back on when you’re landing … definitely adds to the challenge factor!
Ripple is on my to-do list, even more so after watching your flight there.
Thanks Geoff, hopefully bump into you soon.
Haha.. I did have to wait for Elk to clear the field at CYJA this summer. However, with a paramotor I wasn't concerned about them getting in the way upon landing.
Great video Terry, nice to see how well these strips are set up, tidy mindset aids safe operations.
I thought you'd have to have Raspberry ripple.
Thank you Gordan, I did wonder if they named the farm after a Raspberry RIPPLE. The field was immaculate, there was no where to leave a landing fee or a donation but to be fair they were mega busy so I don't think they needed my fiver. I agree, keep relaxed and always have a way out.
Very Enjoyable. 😀
I visited Solley’s this summer for an ice cream. I didn’t know there was a landing strip until I saw the hangar.
I had a chat with the owner who is a super friendly gentleman. I hope to land there someday.
Nice video!
Thank you Rogerio 👍
Grass field hopping is one of my favorite flying activities, and your videos do an excellent job portraying the fun and challenges involved.
I always enjoy watching them when I'm away flying the Airbus but missing flying the Citabria off a grass strip.
Cheers John and always appreciate a comment from a pro pilot. Thanks again Captain.
@@ShortField judging by the caliber of your videos and your attention to safety, I would say you’re as much a professional as any of us who cash a paycheck for flying. Looking forward to more of your adventures!
Love your vids… personal, honest, entertaining and educating!!
Thank you Manu but I'm no instructor.
This is so cool! Propa flying!🛫
Haha loved Solley's Farm, what a cool place with the corn. Asking you to put the plane in the car park as well... 😂😂
😁 that was a great day :-)
Living up to your channel name,,mint choc chip for me or just plain old vanilla, it never tires.
Thank you Mikey :-)
This is fascinating, I never knew there was this niche in piloting as nobody ever talks about flying to and from farm strips in the US. Glad I could take a peak into this wonderful different world, I never even knew they would have facilities at such strips- even if a little barebones!
Great vid, I was at Solleys yesterday. The ice cream is the best, Easy strip for a Quik
Corn must be high or has it been cut Gary?
Enjoyable, careful aviation.
Certainly fun.
Thanks, a very interesting video. Lots of fun. Camera angles had me gripping the seat a couple of times though! 🤣
20+ years ago I used to fly from White Waltham up to a disused tarmac strip in Bucks. It was privately owned and needed a phone call for permission and instructions as it was also a model aircraft strip. Approach with lights on and overfly at 300ft above giving modellers the warning that the next approach would be a full stop. Overfly was always interesting as the modellers would fly alongside so keeping straight was a necessity. Sunday would see a market at the end of the strip to visit and get snacks. Take off with an immediate right turn to avoid overflying the market. Loved it.
Great comment. There's quit a few model clubs on these strips and our engines are not the nosiest so we normally do as you did at 500ft. Thanks again Rick.
A very entertaining video, Terry. Great to see the short-field capabilities of the SportCruiser you appear to handle so well 👌 👏
Cheers Kev, it is amazing little aircraft 105 knots cruise, 500nm range, 19lph and can get in and out of 300m rough strips. You give up a bit with such a light aircraft but you do gain a lot. They're not for everyone but I am a total convert after flying for years in Commanders and Arrows. Thanks again for the kind comments.
@@ShortField Thank you for the spec info. I love the look of them, I believe one of the best looking 2-seaters around today! I've flown the usual Pipers, and now currently have a share in a Rockwell Commander. When I can move to my own plane, this is exactly what I'll be looking for, so your info was very useful indeed, thank you. I shall view all your vids when time allows, and look forward to your new ones coming out, now I've subscribed and hit the bell 👌🙏
@@kevchilton908 cheers Kev, what's the registration of the Commander, I had a Commander 112TCA for 13 years before getting the Pipersport?
@@ShortField Spooky! N1350J a 112b, based at Tatenhill, Staffs. My kids live near Canterbury and I flew it into Maypole before it closed (such a shame about that!) and Pent Farm earlier this year (which I had difficulty finding) 😆 I daren't chance Clipgate which is just up the road from my daughter!! So your strip flying is of real interest to me. Little Mongeham would be ideal! I shall be moving down to be near my kids at some point.. which is when I'll be looking for something of my own.
@@kevchilton908 is that the one that Andy the guy who runs the GA Facebook group had a share in? Ours was G-CNCN.
Hi Terry, really enjoyed watching this episode. Great work 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Lee
Thank you so much Lee. It was an enjoyable vid to make. Your support is just awesome.
Love your videos man! You should get a logo printed on some cups and leave one at these fields for when you return.
Cheers Joseph lovely and appreciated comment sir.
nice one! its interesting to see harringe court farm from above. Im part of the model flying club, and I always enjoy watching the aircraft coming in to land on the airstrip. its cool to finally see it from the pilots perspective.
Oh cool I heard Harringe was possibly going to close?
@@ShortField I'm not entirely sure. I think the site has moved a few times but I dont know whether that's only the model flying club. I think there's word of housing being built in the surrounding fields which would make the area more noise sensitive and kick us out of the site. its already bad enough with just the bike track and a handful of houses down the Vally, but we,ll see. I dont know why they would want to build there but I guess its cheap land to buy up. there's going to be no country side left soon in Kent! 😂
Great videos. Informative and fun and really look forward to them.
Thank you Martin really appreciate the kind comments.
@ShortField I’ve just come across your channel, really great stuff. Just nearing the end of my PPL training with cross country and skills left. Already developing my bucket list of places to go. Both of these strips are now on there. Thanks, look forward to watching more.
Love your version of the $100 Hamburger ... I honestly can say I have never heard of someone landing in a farm where the ice cream is sourced and made. Absolutely brilliant video! Thanks for allowing us to tag along ...
And I echo the comment by @Droladnap about inspiring the next generation of GA pilots. Thanks for what you are doing.👍
Sorry for the late reply and thank you so much sir.
I really enjoyed watching your video fantastic.
16:57 The kid must have been getting attacked with rocks lol. Great video, hoping either this summer or next I can land there.
Deffo go it's a great one to get in your logbook. I blame the kid :-)
Great one Terry!! He he!! I've got to do this one ....
Definitely give them a go Mike, perfect for honing those short field skills. Thank you buddy.
Spent twenty years ... essentially ... doing this everyday! As an ag-driveer daily working off 'unimproved' strips in the middle of nowhere, was a daily challenge, and thrill ... some of the time. More than once, did it where there was no "strip"! Just open ground. In a Bull Stearman no less!! Super Cubs made it a piece of cake. Sooo much fun ... !! Happy for you that you are 1) good enough ... and 2) can get away with it!! Usually some jackass looking over your shoulder telling you, "you can't do that"!!! LOL Best wishes for many more of these 'happy landings'!!!
Sorry for the late reply. Wow I think that's the difference between you pro's and us armatures, this is unusual for us but for you it's a piece of cake. Thank you captain.
Flying in the sky & above the fields where the Battle of Britain was fought must be an amazing experience.
Used to find all grass runways in the Minneapolis MN surrounding area much fun!!
Done this at night on a undulating grass runway at the farm in Minnesota USA much fun!!!
Wow!
That first landing was a long long final, could have landed a 747 from that far out, good fun flying.
I know, 9 miles ILS established :-)
Fantastic, weirdly coincidental I am visiting the exact same two strips tomorrow in a C42! Thanks for video!
Great post some pictures on the microlight Facebook page Rob! Oh and take your own coffee :-)
@@ShortField Yeah, I'll capture a video and share, however, it won't be anything like the quality of yours!!! I'm just using my iPhone at moment, maybe treat myself to a gopro for Xmas!!!! Cheers Rob
@@robstarksflyingdiary7475 looking forward to that be interesting to see the approach from a C42, think you may have a southerly wind though.
@@ShortField windy app was saying easterly so I was thinking I would be on 02, I am but if a novice and I always worry about getting in on the right direction! The C42 with full flap is great on these small strips no problem! (I hope!)
@@robstarksflyingdiary7475 maybe a bit turbulent as it comes in from the sea and drops down to the field but those crops should dampen it down at the touch-down point. You'll be fine just go-around if you're not happy, but you already knew that. Looking forward to your vid Rob!
Just came across your channel Terry. Great video, farm strips are definitely so much fun and you made it look easy. The likes of Mike Patey and Trent Palmer couldn’t do any better 😁. Subscribed.
What a wonderful comment so appreciated. Thank you
@@ShortField Thank you Terry 🙂👍
So nice. When I was flying my ultralight in the US in South Florida back in the 1980's, I would drop in at a farm strip that was also a berry farm. They sold the best strawberry milkshakes around and I and others would fly back while sipping our wonderful shakes and a basket of berries on our laps. I wonder if Burrs Berry Farm is still there. If so then drop on in and have a treat. 😀
Cheers Mark
@@ShortField Thanks, I have many fond memories from those flying days. I keep my feet on the ground now ( health/age) but it is wonderful to remember back to those warm afternoon adventures 40 years ago. Cheers to you as well 😀
Great video
Thanks!
Hi Man, I think you should bring a Check-List aboard, in order not to forget setting up the Flaps before takeoff. You almost had a close encounter with those trees the other vídeo. Good vibes! Thank You!
Great advice, thanks Alfredo
Enjoyed your video a lot! Still training for PPL, I'm on solo 4 now, hope to be able to join into these kind of adventures soon. Following you to see more! Keep it up!
Heard of people going for a "£100 burger" before but never a £100 ice-cream. Good tip with the coffee.
I actually threw up once when I made a coffee from the on site stuff and used curdled milk, it's a tip I learnt through a bad experience :-) Thanks for the watch and support. I'm hoping to pop into your field soon, I'll let you know when I'm coming.
@@ShortField I'm up for that. Maybe quick meal at the pub. Or walk round the woods at the back (it's actually an old mustard gas depot but nature has taken over and it's nice woodland now)
Really useful video and a cracking idea to add it to SkyDemon
Thank you very much 👍
I shall add Solley's to my note pad as a place to visit.
Im sure the R22 would get an audience too.
Can you fly inverted and cut the crops down a bit while you're there :-)
Great video! Probably a bit too far for you, but I noticed on a recent walk that there is a short field at Newnham in Hertfordshire. Looks like an interesting strip! All the best and thanks for the vids. Rob
Thanks Rob. I had a look on the charts for that area and there's nothing listed, I can see on Google Maps there's what looks like a prepared area of a field with two short runways on it less than 1km to the north of Newnham here 52.02917101374315, -0.18703135352709027 probably a farmers private ad-hoc strip. Have you seen the strip at Graverley?
@@ShortField I’ve tried to reply with the location of Newnham but the comment won’t show - yes, I had a look at graveley after watching one of your vids 👍
For the takeoff at 17:00, instead of parking at the end of the runway then release brakes from a standstill for takeoff, you can use the open grassy area for a rolling turn while adding full power , you won't blast the crowd with gravel and you'll be airborne significantly earlier than from a fully stationary takeoff roll.
Those crops!!
Need a heli to chop them down :-)
I LOVE short fields! The thing I fly is off the ground in 80 metres! NICE FACILITIES I'll have to fly down there for a bomb dump. The second field a bloke probably staggered back from the local looking for his caravan and thinks " crikey I have had too many my van has grown wings!"🤣😂🤣 WHAT A GREAT CHANNEL!! Pop up to Popham! There's often Spitfires around as they are are restored nearby
Thank you so much, I do visit Popham quite a bit.
when you sandblasted them, they had the glimpse of a feeling of being at Princess Juliana airport ;)
I mean, people go on holidays to Saint Martin for that exact purpose :)
Fabulous watching you flying. I’m only really into Microsoft flight simulator. I use to live down south but now I am up at Tees valley airport almost where there is a wonderful little airtrip called fishburn. It gets quite popular as there is a bistro there called the aviator. If ever you visit let me know and I will make an effort to come up and meet you. Look forward to your next video
I've been to Fishburn great little strip. Thank you
First time seeing your channel. Very well done! Great job being good at going into and out of short strips. Tip my hat to you, sir. Ps; you guys in England have funny accents🤪 Dave, former airline pilot.
Thanks David. Glad you like the Dick van Dyke accent :-)
Very nice 👍
Cheers Jeff
Just found your channel. I live the Victorian high country in Australia. Lots of little country farm strips around. Where I live there is a public grass strip 600m beside a lake with a 5 minute walk into town, plus a private 1200m bitumen strip for ag work and fire fighting ops. Surrounded by mountains, the scenery is beautiful. If you're ever down under, come pay us a flying visit. Would like to catch up. 👍
great video!
I assume this is you Mark :-)
Grass runways are great as long as they are well maintained, A friend took his Miles Messenger to an airstrip in Wales, and taxiing off the runway, dropped a wheel into a hole that should not have been there, and shock loaded the prop, and broke the main spar, the end of the aircraft.
Yes some are pretty rough.
I've viewed a number of your videos now and I have found them most interesting and enjoyable. Just wondering if you've visited Herefordshire or Worcestershire, there's a number of stripes around Defford is one, Pound Green is another and there's one near Staplow, Herefordshire.
Not yet Nigel and I missed your lovely comment, so sorry sir. I need to check out that area thank you.
It's fantastic to see this sort of flying in the UK, even with our very restricted airspace !! I'd love to give this a try, I wonder if the PA-38 I currently instruct in could handle it ? Not with its flimsy landing struts, I suspect 😅
Flying paradise England! I would like to join you with my Cessna 180 *55 some day!
That would be fantastic!
