I am not a flying instructor so my video content is for pleasure only and not to be used for training as editing removes context. My passengers are always briefed on all the main things they need to know before starting the engine. Be aware some flight critical checks and radio telephony may have not made the final edit but are always completed on the actual flight. All video content is my own and music used has been downloaded from either the RUclips music library or Epidemic Sound where I have a RUclips subscription!
Check out Flight Sport Aviation for more details on microlight experience flights and NPPL license instruction: www.flightspor...
I had my first ever flight in one of these around Brașov (România). It was a gift from my wife and now I'm hooked and planning to get some lessons. Thanks for the videos
No problem, glad you had fun!!
The visibility of this aircraft is insane!
Looked like a good conversion Tom. I'd say you're 'converted' in more than one sense of the word.
The Flying Reporter thanks! Not quite sure what you mean?
Ha ha! Another C42 pilot ‘lost’ to the Eurostar crew. I went the other way- Eurostar > Ikarus.
The EV97 is a brilliant aircraft. I miss flying it.
Really interesting to learn more about the difference between how the C42 and the Eurostar handle differently! Can't wait to see more video in it.
Great video tom! My first three hours were on the eurostar...loved it. The sykranger was available more often in the diary though so good for me but my aim is to be type rated for all three (sky ranger, C42 and Eurostar) at Kemble Flying Club. So this video helped as a refresher. Nice to have your instructor in with you too.
i got to know something Ben , how did you talk your instructor into being on your vlogs ? My instructor is the most camera shy person i know! then again lets face it us vloggers are a law unto our own lol
Awesome, Tom. I do love the eurostar; I'm glad I'm learning to fly in one.
Nice Tom, you handled that pretty well. Thanks for bringing us along 😀✈️
JP Hughes more than welcome mate!
Great video. Very, very good instructor. Great 'bedside manner'. Would be happy to learn under Luke.
He really is, was a good flight!
Really excellent instructor !!! Kudos.
Nicely done checkout! Enjoy the Evektor. Greetings from a Sportstar owner in New Mexico, USA.
Great aircraft Tom well done, you handled that conversion very well. Excellent video :)
Love the video. I started my training in a C152 but have now moved to the ikarus c42 (don't ask) for my training (LAPL) I will definitely be doing a conversion to the eurostar ev97 as the views are outstanding...love the ikarus though... :)
Nice video! I flew with Luke in the Eurostar a week or so ago and he is a very very good instructor. The Eurostar is a pleasant aircraft to fly. Nice video.
Yes it is, glad you enjoyed it!
Really Enjoyed this one, conversions are always interesting and i think helpful to most Microlight pilots because I'm willing to bet most C42 pilots would love to fly the Eurostar. can't wait to see the next one, also let us know what your thoughts as a pilot are since you have flown both? (differences , likes dislikes, and one day when you can afford your own aircraft , what would you buy ?) :)
Great video , I fly a club C42 but always do my 2 yearly refresher ride in the Eurostar that way it's a bit of a challenge/learning curve. Prefer the C42 due to my short legs making it a bit of a chore getting on that low wing, also find the controls a bit back to front as the C42 seems natural now . Well done !
Great video
Nice landing, greaser!
Strange how Microlights have gotten so much larger than when I flew them back in the day i.e Thruster etc. So is that aircraft defined as a Micro just because of the fuel pump then? The bloke you were flying with seem to think if it had a fuel pump on board it would be a Class A aircraft I found that a bit strange surely it would be the MAUM that would define it. Can you just confirm that your medical was just a simple CAA online declaration? Bloody good video though mate, bloody good!
Hey mate and thanks! Glad you enjoyed. We are not too sure the difference between this and a class A version but he seems to think that is the only difference he has noticed about it. Yes, I did a medical self declaration as required for my license.
The MicroPilot I've read that the only difference on the EV97 microlight and LSA/Grp A etc is the electric fuel pump. I've also read that the cross wind tolerance is also higher than stated for the microlight version (in other words both types are better than stated - thus the aircraft has higher tolerances as standard). Don't hold me to that though ;-)
@@musoseven8218 That's interesting mate would love to fly one.
David Cornwell Hi, lots of people like them, good aeroplane. :-)
Nice video. I’m about to make my long awaited decision on flying lessons. I have the choice between c42 & ev97. Wot would you do now you’ve flown both of you were starting again?
Hey Jed. I am definitely more of a fan of the EV97. But then again the c42 is nice to train in and then it was fun to go over to the ev97. I should imagine the conversion from ev97 to c42 would be less enjoyable.
Really helpful video, thanks!
Can you tell me what mnemonic you use for landing/approach in the EV97 please.
Thanks.
Twas Fun:
Trim - set ok
Wind - Strength & direction
Activity - Positions of airfield traffic
Security - Hatches, Harnesses and lose articles
Fuel - Pump on, quantity sufficient
Undercarriage - Down, locked & breaks off
Needles - Gauge needles, engine T's & P's
The MicroPilot Thanks! That's very helpful - is that standard for most fixed wing microlights may I ask?
I''m more familiar with Group A BUMFITCHH+Wind (the abbreviated version of OBUMMMPFFITCHH), which my dad and others used to use. Microlights have different requirements and features of course, but I'd not seen such checks written down anywhere.
Interesting too to hear your instructor comment about the vernier etc on the hand throttle. IIRC, I read a fairly early review of the EV97 and the reviewer made the suggestion that the issue/arrangement should be modified/amended so as to rectify the issue.
Thanks again, enjoy your flying!
The BIG question which is your preference the C42 or Eurostar moving forwards?
At the moment it is a Eurostar. Just because it's different and a little more fun to fly.
I think this video may have helped me choose my plane :-) it's one of a few I need to have a taster in to finally decide!
Thanks again
Gaz Colfer haha well at least I may have helped hahaha
