Subtle undertones of their religious beliefs popping up in their music, without so much preachiness, which makes it palatable to a larger audience..... so while they may be referencing their own god and their own beliefs, it doesn't mean that others can't listen to it and relate to it on other levels.

Throughout her career, she is absolutely entranced by the fire that burns within her spirit. Such passion. So uplifting and empowering. This band has held a constant spot on my playlist at work since they exploded in 2005. Given my personal lack of belief, they get high praise from me. Pun intended. That is a singular voice that converted millions!
Flyleaf isn't the same without her. The new singer is still an incredible talent, but Lacey MADE the band, she was Flyleaf. The songs just don't have the same weight to them now.

I got to go see them at a small venue maybe 20 feet from the stage if not closer shortly after they switched their name from Passerby to Flyleaf. The concert was great and her voice gave me chills live and her stories had people crying. Give Fully Alive and I'm so Sick a listen.
I saw them in concert in like 05 or 06 and before they played this song she took a minute and spoke about the inspiration for this song. Its based on the Christian testimony of a burn survivor. Give it another listen with that in mind

My absolute favorite LP ! This song woke me up out of my sleep 10 years ago just days before I had my daughter. I was 34 at the time . Song was amazing I ran out to purchase the CD and fell in love with the whole thing ! The 2 Cds that came out afterward were amazing as well. Flyleaf is great!! But if you haven't heard of Evanescence.....you HAVE to check them out. Amy Lee on vovals is out of this world. Not too many female vocals in the rock genre ever in my opinion. **Music is my expression**
@Adead I was mainly speaking of Evanescence because of Amy Lee. I know of all the bands you named. All are great also. No need to take it personal because we don't have the same opinion of who is better. Wasn't competing. Was suggesting new music
Amy Lee had a couple good songs yes. But I can't stand that opera metal crap. Just can't get into it. Some great vocals tho.

I love flyleaf! You know after listening to this video with you it occurred to me that you don't have any Metal with female vocalists! So here are a couple of my favorites: Epica (unleashed, cry for the moon, sensorium) are 3 of their best songs. Also Coronatus (screem of the butterfly, my rose desire, cast my spell) are 3 of their best songs! Must watch live, I think you will be impressed!!
