What if you disconnect the battery first? Then the computer will have no idea the camera has been disconnected and re-connected. Unless you put in a different cam.
I know on my subaru that if you disconnect the battery then the side windows need to be reprogrammed 🤷🏽♂️
@@MrSleepProductionsInc well that’s kinda dumb. So once every 3 years you gotta reprogram your windows? Or do you just mean rolling them up and down a few times so they can memorize the all the way up and all the way down positions? I don’t call that reprogramming ;)
@@CartoonWeasel that's normal, I had to do the same when replacing my battery, as it took me a while to scrub out the battery tray.

My trucks have been pulling Subarus out of ditches and mud puddles for years
Why don’t these truck manufactures make a line of trucks that is purely mechanical instead of electronic and call it a “vintage line” or something like that? I’m tired of all these electronic bells and whistles. Just let me purchase a truck that runs as simple as my old craftsman lawnmower and I will be happy.
Better get born again 30 yrs ago......🤷♂️
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod haha that’s right lol
I agree 100% and some companies allow for really base model car(no a/c, power windows, power locks, etc) but some things are legally required like a backup camera
It is still possible to buy a new Super Duty with manual locks and windows, only having the features mandated by the gov like backup camera. Still costs over $60k tho.
Backup cameras are actually legally mandated in the US which is kind of annoying
How about disconnecting the negative battery cable, remove the tailgate, spray the liner, reinstall the tailgate, then reconnect the battery cable.
👌👌
Such a hassle when it could have been all avoided in the first place
Hi,with all the technology Ford can do automatic recalibration of many components like this one...if they want it...blessings.
Wow. Didn't know that was a problem!
Si
Good job Ford make it harder for the everyday working man
the shop we use doesn't take the tailgates off
Yeah I spray bedliner at a ford dealership, and we never have had this problem at all. I put the tailgates back on and plug the camera in, it works, no reprogramming, it wouldn’t just stop working after that and suddenly require a reprogram after working so this is just false, at least for 2022-23 Ford Mavericks, rangers, F-150’s, F-250’s, and Chevy 1500’s.
....yeah.....i wldnt waste ur time making a BS video. Read the bio cheeeftian
I had Linex done and he took care of this so it was not a problem.
What about with a flatbed? Like if you put a flatbed on an f-250 or f-350 with a camera do you have to use the factory camera or what?
There's a Ford camera for that
You can use factory FDRS software to turn that camera off!
I'm wondering to avoid a camera reset just remove the battery, would that work?
In the Ford body shop I work in I haven't had this issue happen on the last 10-15 trucks I've had the tailgates off of. I wonder what the error that comes up is. Wonder if it's been patched on some of the vehicles?
Good question
So every time tou take off your tailgate so the fork lift doesn't hit it you need to re program the camera?how does it know you took it off?
This is why i own a 1993 F-150 302
What’s the difference for spray or drop in? I know one is sprayed but is it thinner?
My king ranch 250 came with the sprayed in liner from the factory.
I do emergency vehicle upfitting and take the tailgate off on every F-150 I do. Never had any issues with the camera or MIL/CEL's. If you don't plug it in, you'll have a problem.
Just letting u guys know what happened to me
Have done hundreds of fords..I’ve never had this issue. Have always made sure it works(plugged in) before it leave the shop..🤷♂️
🤷♂️
I thought you were gonna say make sure they prep the bed before they sprayed, seen a video where they literally pilled a whole entire piece off ! The dealership is not prepping in the bed therefore the liner is not sticking!!!!
Great info. What do you charge to reconfigure the 360 and where are you?
I have a video showing you all the procedure. I sometimes can take an hr, depending on how finicky the system is going to be
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Please tell me how to find that video. My camera is definitely off as is my collision avoidance, etc. I did the spray in bed liner and also upped my tire diameter.
It is my video catalog. It's titled 360 camera
I take these tailgates off everyday on 2022 model ford's, never had an issue. Does it happen awhile after driving?
Would this still happen if you disconnect the batteries and then remove the tail gate?
I didn't understand why that would matter until you mentioned needing to calibrate the 360 view. I'm not cool enough to have one of those
Nice job good info.😎
My 2016 does not have this issue. They took mine off at Line X and no issues.
Dinosaur compared to these new ones
This is why people should just fix their older vehicles and keep driving them. There's too many features and sensors and computers and not a single one is needed. Maybe heated seats but that's about it.
How long is the cable? Is there any play after loosing the fasteners? Can you unbolt the tailgate and swing it away and put on stands while the bed is sprayed?
Umm no
What does disconnecting the camera have to do with what bed liner you have? Looks like the drop in will need to be recalibrated as well???
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I’ve got a 22 platinum f150 that I sprayed myself through the shop I own and I’ve done probably roughly 200 trucks this year alone and haven’t had this issue and or a customer whose came back with an issue at all especially with camera issues 😂 unless the guy really messed with taking the plugs apart
Unplug your battery. Before you remove the tailgate.
Here's a nugget of advice, if you have a Mopar vehicle with a uconnect speaker don't update it it'll brick your radio
My f-150 is as old as I am and I like it that way
Would it help if you disconnected the battery? It sounds like it would work
That’s a hassle! I know when you unplug the Tundras camera to take the tailgate off, nothing happens. Just plug it back in and you’re good to go. Maybe it’s because of the 360 camera?
Trucks are meant for work I remove my tailgate at least 5 times a year for loading pallets with a forklift. This is stupid but then I guess most folks don’t work with their truck anymore. Guess I’ll keep my 2003 f150
So if you disconnect the battery first (although a pain in the @$$) does it still require recalibration? So long as the tailgate is put back on before the battery is reconnected. Also out of warranty how much does the calibration cost by ford
The fact that you have an entire channel dedicated to the issues that Fords encounter makes me hesitant to buy one.
Real good
wait... so if i put a gooseneck ball in the bed and have to remove the tail gate because i dont normally have mine in anyways. the camera will have to be reprogrammed everytime?... ill just go to walmart buy a camera and the screen and put in myself and prolly save a few hundred bucks.
Ford needs to figure out something else for that, because that’s ridiculous to have to make an appointment if the tailgate is removed
Cameras by design do not need "configuration". Cameras are Plug n play. If this is the case, Ford went out of the way to force a reconfiguration requirement after disconnection. Meaning ford is just reaching for extra cash from the unsuspecting consumer.
I don't think so Tim
It’s because of all of the thefts. Makes resale pain in the ass. Won’t stop it but you can thank all the thieves for all of these issues with buying property.
Back up till it sounds expensive!
This is why you disconnect the battery first
So you don't trip codes
DUR!
That is very helpful
Who would have thought adding a shit ton of stupid electronics to a truck was a bad idea?
Ford is playing you all!
Does the spray on bed liner mess with the heated bumper package? I mean I wouldn't want your buddy's hands to get cold when he is pushing you in the winter.
Yea I'm sorry it does
I worked for roushe automotive in michigan on these f 150s and they are trash. 50 miles put on trucks just in 1 parking lot…porters crash them and seats and ccms are not put in properly and they pass them through to customers who only get a discount on the massive parking lot mileage. Crashes and anything else is left to the customers to find out. I used to love fords but 70-115 gs for a p.o.s. Is insane. Also dozens of key fabs get stolen often which means all of these trucks are open season for anyone who has the stolen/default key fabs.
Roush ehhh, ha good luck with that nonsense........
