This video skipped...a *lot* of limit breaks from 8. Almost all of Quistis', Selphie's Rapture, Rinoa's Invincible Moon, even the last hit of Squall's Lionheart. It showed so much more of 7's (even had a mod to break the damage limit there) and skipped a lot of the ones to follow. I feel like whoever made the video they're reacting to is a bit biased.
The vast majority of Quistis limit breaks are just monster attacks with the same visual. Video is long enough with spamming regular attacks for the sake of technical completion. But yeah otherwise, surprising there are so many missing. And how quickly the later ones transitioned was a bit jarring. Yea. Didn't even show the Limit Breaks from the optional Aeons from FFX like Yojimbo, Anima and Magus Sisters. For FF13 they could have also shown the Eidolons and their ultimate attacks instead of showing those generic moves used in battle like Army of One.

25:19 Yeah, the video went from Crisis Core FF7 Reunion (which came out in late 2022) to FF 12 (which initially came out in 2006). The uploader probably just wanted to use the best looking versions of each Limit Break, so they used the remake of Crisis Core in place of the original (came out in 2007).

No name for wha Red XIII is. He’s the last of his kind and your talking dog best friend. “Graphics got better but the moves got worse”. Looks like the video you’re using is going in release order but using the best visuals they can. So you were looking at a PS4 remaster of a PSP game, hence the less flashy moves. Outside of that Ken’s dead right. The series moved away from turn-based moves so limit breaks in general got a downgrade in spectacle as the fight had to keep going as they did. 36:30 As someone else has said, I would attribute that to later Final Fantasy games wanting to keep Limit Breaks quicker for the sake of not interrupting the flow of real time/action focused combat as the series began to turn away from being turn based. What's more is that Limit Breaks are no longer the only "big damage" moves that the developers have to account for. The battle system of earlier games mainly boil down to attack, item, and magic. FF16 on the other hand uses it's Limit Break as more of a power up instead of a single attack because the variety and spectacle has gone into the 40+ Eikonic abilities and Eikon battles that have you stringing all these different animations together in quick succession.
Each Final Fantasy has had its own kind of Ultimate move (generally called Limit Breaks as a whole though they often had their own names in each game). They're generally stand alone super attacks but not always. Tifa's Limit Break for instance was designed to chain off its different levels hence why she only got one in this video while everyone else in FF7 had multiple. Another example would be FF12's Quickenings are designed to be short because the goal is to link as many of all the party's Quickening attacks together within a time limit to trigger larger damage effects. As for the latter ones in this video those games are more action focused (or is an MMO in the case of FF14) so usually the Limit Breaks are going to be shorter and less showy so they don't interrupt the gameplay too much. In the later games often the really showy and cinematic attacks are going to come in the form of the summons more then the Limit Breaks. @RomnilWater maybe a hot take, but my favorite Limitbreak style system is Quickening from 12. Shorter but extremely flashy and cool. 12 just has such a visceral "Raw Devastation" feel to the attacks
For FF14, its an MMO so taking a ton of time is not really the best thing, gameplay does not pause for them. Most later games are Action RPGs so roughly the same issue.
Part of the reason you see changes in the complexity, quality and impact (aka damage) from game to game is that they come up with different mechanics for each game. While Limit Breaks could be devastating in one game, in another they're more minor and the emphasis might be on using Summons, for example. Clive's Limit Break in 16 isn't even a particular attack, it's just a buff that improves or changes your usual attacks and keeps you from dying while it lasts. Regarding 14 having very short animations, as an MMO you don't get to pause the enemy so it's actually dangerous to be standing there unable to dodge for those few seconds. The boss doesn't even flinch and will happily mow you down if you chose your time and position poorly. In addition, there are a lot of jobs and that video didn't include many of the newer ones.
I dont think you really watched the best version of the limit breaks/latest version if there is one. There are several ones they're missing (like the secret 10 summons, several 14 limit breaks, and I could be misremembering but I believe ff11 has limit breaks as well as well as some spin offs) not to mention, they seem to mainly focus on the original games with the except of ff6 what uses the pixel remaster, and while i get people have fondness for the original games and not the "hd" versions, its a lot harder on the eyes. Plus there are several moves in ff16 that you can consider limit breaks as well. Hell, they didnt even do some of the Endwalker job limit breaks and it was out BEFORE crisis core.
The reason it was called Highwind and you saw missiles rain down was because the name of his Airship is The Highwind. So it was his ship shooting missiles at them.
I had left a comment at last weeks poll that what I believed to be this video was rather bad, too bad that you still went with this one. You really did not get the best expierience watching this. Most games other than ff7 had problems with the limits. FF9 and FF10 skipped half the characters and ff14 missed a lot of jobs.
The Limit Breaks of Final Fantasy XIV are short since the game is a MMORPG. As such, if the moves took too long, the players would probably end up stuck in it and take hits from enemies mechanics. Also, those Limit Breaks are role oriented : tank LBs are meant to soak damage, healer LBs are meant to heal (and at Lv.3, full raise the party), melee DPS LB are single target nukes, ranged DPS are line Area of Effect that hit everyone in it and caster DPS are a large, circular Area of Effect. Limit Breaks in FFXIV are also a shared resource : it is a gauge that builds for the entire party and any member can activate the limit break when they wish and it'll use whichever is related to the role the person who activates it has. If the party has 4 people, then they have access to Lv.2 Limit Breaks against bosses; if the party has 8 people, then they have access to Lv.3 Limit Breaks (which are unique to each job). Only in FFXIV PvP do every player get their own Limit Break gauge and they're usually more like using a signature ability for the job they're currently using. For example, using the Black Mage LB in PvP makes it able to move and cast fully powered spells 6 times and have one use of a spell called Foul; the Paladin gets Guardian which makes them invulnerable for a time; the Samurai gets a dashing slash that, if properly set up with another ability, deals 100% HP damage to enemies between them and their target, etc. Still, the showcase in that compilation was shortened too. I'd suggest watching a proper compilation of FFXIV limit breaks which also includes those from Dawntrail (the latest expansion) which would have those of the Viper and Pictomancer.
Yeah, early Limit breaks were quite more stylish. Like others have pointed out it is because the series has gradually moved to real-time action combat over turn-based battles. On the Final Fantasy XIV version, those were shorts because the game is an MMO so it make sense the limit breaks are quick.
For context Final Fantasy kind of jumps game gernes a lot. Like FF1-10 are more turn based so they need to do what is basically a little movie to show off the move. In Final Fantasy 13 and 15 it's more action based so you can't just stop the game anymore and have the player watch a 30 second movie. In FF14, it's an online mmo so when you do a limit break in a party, you have a bunch of other people that have to watch that. Plus, after it's over they have to be moving because the fights not over. So, the animations need to be snappy. FF7 Remake is more like Asura's Wrath so these limit breaks are being done mid combo while 2 other characters are also doing their thing. In that case, a move like Finishing Touch would break the pacing of the fight. Like one of the big combos in FF7 (it wasn't in this video) was to do this thing where you can cast Knights of the Round 4x. It's the most damaging spell in the game. But it's also 1 minute and 23 seconds long. So, imagine if you're playing Asura's Wrath and every like 2 minutes you have to watch the same 5 minute move play out over an hour. That works in a strategy setting because it's more like chess and you're thinking about your moves but in a more action-packed game it just breaks the pacing.
33:02 yeah ff15 really didnt have limit breaks as it was realtime with a few special moves. Arminger gives u a few seconds of invincibility and lets u spam teleport while throwing up to 13 weapons all over the place. Even the unshown secret Arminger unleashed mode just replaced the flight and invincibility with more stylish combos a small list of special attacks u can do. One of many reasons the fandom is practically begging square to go back to turn based
From FF6 to 13 games where more turn based and 7 remake, rebirth, 14, 15 and 16 are more action based, Ken is on the dot with why their less impressive or epic then the older games. I hope they will bring more of the epic feeling to limit breaks in the next games.
a lot of newer FF games have their "big finishing moves" not in the limit breaks but in the summons. it showed so much of X and VII Im pretty sure the uploader was pretty bias in favour of those 2
It missed a bunch of the summons in 10 though if it was including those, so I’m not sure quite how biased they were to it… Either way, if this was supposed to be all, then they missed a fair few…
I think you guys should watch all of the final fantasy 7 rebirth team attacks those are really good and probably gives you what you are looking for as in an end for the attacks also some of them are pretty funny
In FF6, you couldn't control the desperation attacks. They would randomly happen when you're at low health. Angelo, the dog from FF8, believe it or not is just a normal dog. I imagine she has special training but all of those things are apparently things normal dogs can do in that world. There are a LOT of spoilers in this video. Saw two really big ones for 7 and 8. Wow they left out almost everybody from 9! What in the world?! "That baby cactus is doing a lot of damage!" Yeeeeeah thats what cactuar does...ow. Just be glad Lulu's is on our side. The bunny eared woman is a species called Viera. Aaah you're hitting on what so many gamers have yet to learn--that advanced graphics doesn't mean better content, and lesser graphics doesn't make a game bad (on that subject, you mentioned you'll be playing Pokémon SV soon? Be prepared for a LOT of comments about the graphics). My favorite game shown here, in fact my favorite game of all time, is Final Fantasy 6, and frankly I dont😢like the "graphical upgrade" the pixel remaster gave it. It looks jarring and unfitting to have everyone in pastels. "GIANT CHICKEN?!!!" Those are chocobos! They don't usually look like that.
28:01 I remember vastly disliking the limit breaks of FF12 to me they list some of their uniqueness as there are no set weapons in FF12 plus the summons and limit break shared a single meter. I also didn't like FF12 in general as I felt the main character was so out of place it was like he was on the sidelines watching the true main character Ashe, the only thing I liked was the playboy bunny I thought her design was extremely sexy and badass.
I am so excited for this! I would recommend looking into FF summons next, but be ready to make it multi part. The summons tend to add up s9me time from FF7 on, especially10 amd 12 since they have their own Limit Breaks.
11:30 the Highwind is the name of the airship that Cid (the character using the spear) pilots. He’s basically calling in an air strike from the party’s flying machine.
The little green monster wearing a robe that you saw during the FF8 portion is called a Tonberry. Those things have an incredibly high health pool, and every turn in battle they creep closer to the party. When one gets close enough, it unleashes an attack that can instantly kill a party member. Also, if you kill 20 Tonberries in a row in FF8, you get to fight the Tonberry King, which, if you manage to defeat it, becomes one of your Gaurdian Forces, FF8's version of summons
Yeah, modern Limit Breaks aren’t as stylish due to Square Enix shifting the franchise from turned based to real-time combat, most people were not a fan of that change I was fine with it because I didn’t grow up with Final Fantasy I got into right around FF 15 came out which is when they made the change for the franchise.
The green penguin was a monster called a tonberry. They are one of the worst enemies in the franchise. They have a powerful chef’s knife attack. In some games its power is based on how many enemies you killed while others are just how many tonberries. The bad breath move causes every status effect in the game. It is from a monster called the Malboro, which actually is from Marlboro cigarettes
That 'green penguin' as you put it, is called a Tonberry. They make look cute, but any long time player knows just how terrifying those little guys are.
Giant Rooster = Cockatrice, a standard part of FF beastiary. *FF7:* Tifa's Classic weapon set (Gloves) includes simple gauntlets, knuckledusters, and what you saw, claws...not knives. Cait Sith's "idle" animation is him dancing. Aerith's umbrella is actually her weapon, a "joke weapon". Every character has one. Cid's Dynamite was the last time anyone will ever see a FF character with a cigarette in their mouth. *FF8:* Blue Magic (enemy's techniques) as a Limit Break has up to a dozen or two collected techniques, so it's understandable why the video OP limited themself to just one example each with Quistis and FFX's Kimahri, the blue furry. Yes, "Bad Breath" (multi status attack) is one of them. *There are entire videos dedicated to listing Blue Magic, maybe look at one?* "Who's SHE?!". Edea. Friendly when seen, but former enemy, hence badass costume. *FF9:* The colorfulness of the character signifies Trance status, which is when Limit Breaks in FF9 can then occur. *FFX:* Achieving "Overkill" does have a tangible benefit, it enables a better set of loot drops from the creature. The "unicorn" is the lightning Aeon, Ixion, replacing the usual bearded man Ramuh from previous games in that role. "Calypso" is Shiva, the ice Aeon, a standard throughout. The "Grenade" Rikku tosses is perhaps the least impressive option of her "Mix" Overdrive (aka Limit Break), there's a literal wall chart detailing all the possibilities, going through all of them, like Blue Magic, could take up an entire video of its own.
I have no idea who created this video of the Limit Breaks, but towards the end it felt rushed without giving you a moment to process what you saw with the Limit Breaks. Hell even with the 14 Limit Breaks it ran through them without giving you a chance to admire the Beauty some of the Limits have. Like with Astrologian and Dancer
Huh, i was wondering which Final Fantasy, but i guess it was all of them so far. Say, have you done all the Summons already? Also, how about doing all Metaphor Awakenings at some point, if you haven’t already?
For FF14, the limit breaks have to be faster than other games, because it’s an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game), meaning that there can’t be too big of a pause, otherwise it wastes the time of other players. No matter how cool a long attack would look, seeing it a hundred times would make it a slog fest, and given that Limit Breaks are essential for high-end content, having an long animation for one player would bore everyone (or even worse, get them all killed)
This is unexpected for sure. I'd love to see your reaction to Dissidia Duodecim's Limit Breaks if at all possible. I don't even know if there's a video for all of them
@zacatkinson3926 yes, "SRW" or in this case Super Robot Wars, this is a turn-based strategy game, in this game you can use various robots or mechs from anime series.
The creativity is fine they cant have anything too nuts all the time as we need to see the animations fluid within the fight and we see them a million times. They also left out team attacks and other things from the newer games . Yes they arnet the same as limit breaks, but this is only a small piece of the move sets characters have
Final Fantasy X is such. a. good. game. If you make it through the story without getting teary eyed, you might be broken. And yeah, I think the later games rely too much of special effects and speed and lose the creativity.
This isn't even close to ALL the limit breaks in FF. I haven't played most FF games but the ones I know most I can say there's still a lot missing. FFX for example; it missed 4 of the Aeon overdrives (Valefore's 2nd overdrive Energy Blast, Anima's Oblivion, The Magus Sisters Delta Attack and Yojimbos Zanmato) as well as several unique moves for both Kimarhi (who has several versions of breathing poison, fire, petrification, water, some healing and buff moves and a massive damage dealing finisher called Nova) and Rikku, who has *sixty four* (yes you read that right) different individual moves, though many of them share animations, but there are some pretty unique effects in there too. There's also a guest star party member Seymour who turns up for only 1 fight but still has a unique overdrive, Requiem. I can only imagine how many others are missing from the rest of the series. Also, clarification, Highwind (Cids overdrive from FF7) is named such because it's the name of his airship. *That's* what's raining down the missiles during the attack. Don't concern yourself for the strange green frog like creature. That's a Tonberry, a series staple, and it deserves every ounce of pain and punishments it's getting. Fuckers deserve it! No but seriously they're some of the most dangerous things in these games. You see one, you overkill the shit out of it!
ff14's is understandably quick but flashy, as its a mmo and it'd be kinda annoying to have to wait throug a long animation when youre just trying to speed through your grinding in dungeons
Some to most of these went by quite fast indeed, which ruins their visual and awesomeness somewhat. LBs were a good add-on to our strategies when playing, using them when needed. :)
Ahhh, why is the video skipped almopst all FF9's character's Trance? Many of other installments too. Maybe a revisit in future? I'd wish someday you guys would do a all Final Fantasy Summon series, preferably with all hidden ones too.
Ok, see, this is just making me want you to do a lets play of one of the classic final fantasies. (6 or 7 would be my top picks, but anything from 1 *to* 7 for a first time playing. Not 7 Remake...not for the first game.

Wow, none of the disidia limits this list is definitely incomplete 😑
I'd suggest watching a proper compilation of FFXIV limit breaks which also includes those from Dawntrail (the latest expansion) which would have those of the Viper and Pictomancer.
would love to see a reaction on all Final Fantasy Dissidia openings and the ending fight
13:30 That little penguin is a demon. Purge it on sight with extreme prejudice.
It's Doinking Time
Yeah, early Limit breaks were quite more stylish. Like others have pointed out it is because the series has gradually moved to real-time action combat over turn-based battles.
On the Final Fantasy XIV version, those were shorts because the game is an MMO so it make sense the limit breaks are quick.
Even as short as they are, sometimes the whole party can die before it can finish, so any longer and they wouldn't be worth it.
@@catwhowalksbyhimself Fair enough
You guys should watch all shin Megami Tensei 5 combo moves and unique demon conversations
I'll recommend the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius CGI Limit Breaks too. They are for a mobile game, but look excellent.
24:41 to be fair, that is a remaster of a psp game released on all current consoles, and that footage is from either ps4 or ps5.
Screw FF9, I guess. They only showed like 4 of those.
I know, I was so upset. I wanted them to see Steiner/Beatrix's Swort Arts/Seiken, at least.
I think you guys should watch all of the final fantasy 7 rebirth team attacks those are really good and probably gives you what you are looking for as in an end for the attacks also some of them are pretty funny
Should watch all the summonings. That would be a good time.
Lost not list...
FF12 best creative attacks and easy to play, worth a try
you should do all the summons next!
It's weird that 9 and 12 had the best ones visually even better than FF7 Remake. Both those games are almost 20 years old.
9 is OVER twenty
I am so excited for this! I would recommend looking into FF summons next, but be ready to make it multi part. The summons tend to add up s9me time from FF7 on, especially10 amd 12 since they have their own Limit Breaks.
I still need to finish a Final Fantasy
Completely agree about there being too much going on in the newer versions
11:30 the Highwind is the name of the airship that Cid (the character using the spear) pilots. He’s basically calling in an air strike from the party’s flying machine.
So yeah they left out quite a few of 8 and the last 3 of Yuna's aeon's from X and all those are sweet you should look them up and react later
I have a request for you two guys to do. THE KING OF FIGHTERS ALLSTAR | ALL SUPERS (FINAL UPDATE).
On my channel
The little green monster wearing a robe that you saw during the FF8 portion is called a Tonberry. Those things have an incredibly high health pool, and every turn in battle they creep closer to the party. When one gets close enough, it unleashes an attack that can instantly kill a party member. Also, if you kill 20 Tonberries in a row in FF8, you get to fight the Tonberry King, which, if you manage to defeat it, becomes one of your Gaurdian Forces, FF8's version of summons
*BREAK THE LIMIT!!!* too excited for this 🍺😆
they skipped so many great limit breaks and there is some really breathtaking ones in ff16 which is not shown here
Yeah, modern Limit Breaks aren’t as stylish due to Square Enix shifting the franchise from turned based to real-time combat, most people were not a fan of that change I was fine with it because I didn’t grow up with Final Fantasy I got into right around FF 15 came out which is when they made the change for the franchise.
"Every one?" Wow! Can't wait! ❤
So these definitely were not all Limit Breaks lol
Well this aged.me lol thanks alot guys lmao . great reaction as always
Oh my God, this brings back elementary school memories
All FF Summons?
The green penguin was a monster called a tonberry. They are one of the worst enemies in the franchise. They have a powerful chef’s knife attack. In some games its power is based on how many enemies you killed while others are just how many tonberries.
The bad breath move causes every status effect in the game. It is from a monster called the Malboro, which actually is from Marlboro cigarettes
Whoever made this video you're watching skipped so many of the limit breaks it's crazy.
Why are there so many missing? Especially from FFX
Jecht Shot for one
@SnipingIsFun
Jecht Shot isn't a Limit Break 😐
That 'green penguin' as you put it, is called a Tonberry. They make look cute, but any long time player knows just how terrifying those little guys are.
You guys should checkout Sephiroth vs Vergil Death battle.
11:17 The Highwind is Cid's airship you use to navigate the world of FFVII.
This video left out so many
wow whoever made this skipped A LOT
Huh, i was wondering which Final Fantasy, but i guess it was all of them so far.
Say, have you done all the Summons already?
Also, how about doing all Metaphor Awakenings at some point, if you haven’t already?
Cuzzo, you can't speak about Tyranids and NOT show us some minis or even a gray shame-pile
Wait you're playing FF14 how can you not know that instance at 32:00 ? i saw you guys complete shadowbringer and stuff
FF7, FF10, X2, and FF15 will always have a soft spot for me whenever I see them get mentioned
This "green penguin" is the most dangerous thing in FF series. You see this- RUUNNNNNN xddd
24:41 welcome to modern gaming in nutshell
This is unexpected for sure. I'd love to see your reaction to Dissidia Duodecim's Limit Breaks if at all possible. I don't even know if there's a video for all of them
Do the summons!!
The more familiarity with the series the better the understanding of what on earth is going with the battles.
i was so excited for this video but it seems like not the best video to react to. there were so many missing.
If you liked watching this from the Final Fantasy franchise, I guarantee that when you see the SRW animations you will be surprised and excited.
SRW?
@zacatkinson3926 yes, "SRW" or in this case Super Robot Wars, this is a turn-based strategy game, in this game you can use various robots or mechs from anime series.
@@AnimefantasyX Alright never heard of that before, no problems
The creativity is fine they cant have anything too nuts all the time as we need to see the animations fluid within the fight and we see them a million times. They also left out team attacks and other things from the newer games . Yes they arnet the same as limit breaks, but this is only a small piece of the move sets characters have
I hope u guys play Final Fantasy 16 🙏
Final Fantasy X is such. a. good. game. If you make it through the story without getting teary eyed, you might be broken. And yeah, I think the later games rely too much of special effects and speed and lose the creativity.
Will the final fantasy brave exvius cg be in here?
Also later FF is more about summons then the limit breaks.
Totally should watch all final fantasy X cutscenes lol
You guys should watch final fantasy dissidia: duo decim all limit breaks.
Plays out the FFX limit breaks (at least some of them). Skips out on the entirety of the Esper deathblows in FFXII. What the heck is this list?
Ok, see, this is just making me want you to do a lets play of one of the classic final fantasies. (6 or 7 would be my top picks, but anything from 1 *to* 7 for a first time playing.
Not 7 Remake...not for the first game.
You guys should play the 7 remake or 16, its also harder a bit to see it on YT
You two need to play final fantasy 7 it was one of the best games I ever played
Difficulte Explain
Finale Fantasy 7 Remake Part 1 and Part 2 PS5 Very Well
Finale Fantasy 7 Story Cloud vs Sephiroth Biggest Ennemie of Vidéo Games .
Cloud Team : Tifa, Barret, Red 13 , Vincent , Aeristh , Youfi and more.
Finale Fantasy 8 Squall with Love Linoa , rival Sneiffer , Friend Zell and more Characters and Ennemies Ultimesia and more Very Well Games my Favorite.
And Finale Fantasy 9 Very Good
I recommanded Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 1 and 2
FINAL FANTASY VII is my the most lovely GAME. I would easy waste all of my time to watch 5 minutes cutscene of 1 attack from summons in every fight xd
Absolutely no FFXI LBs? Shame.
Yeah…the Video they chose to view has A lot of Bias towards the Other FF games besides FF7. Our Hosts have no Idea what the Other Limit Breaks that majority of the Characters After FF7 (mainly FF8, FF9, FF10, etc.) are able to do.
So the guy is made this video is biased towards FF7

You…. Did you even comprehend my post?
@@danielramsey6141 yes I did dude
