    Thank you to Sigma for allowing me to borrow the fp L! Quick correction to my video though... the fp L can capture 14-bit Raw files, not 16-bit as I said in the video. The files are amazing though!

      They didn't include any log mode or hdr. Either 8bit internal or raw. Strange because L mount Panasonic has been doing 10bit 422 420 for so long. Still wise, scan time seems to be very slow the sensor. Very tempted by the color fidelity and clarity.

    Epic review of the SIGMA fp-L camera body. I've enjoyed SIGMA lens optical quality and ease of use maybe 5 years now. I just realized, this is the first solid tech review of a camera I've seen led by a noted lady photographer. I appreciated your honesty and sincerity. More power to you and your viewers.

    Great video, and I appreciate that you're coming to the review as a creator and not a specs wizard. I like where the fp L is going, but I think the original fp will be a better choice for me as I do primarily video. It certainly solves many shooting issues I've encountered on my own projects.

    Thanks for the review Leigh! Your thoughts mirror mine for my fp. I love the modularity of the camera. I tend to use mine with a Smallrig cage with a handle, a wrist strap, and smaller vintage lenses and absolutely love it. I carry it with me everywhere. I leave the fp in my hand almost always, whereas my DSLR I often put back in my backpack to give my hand a rest. I take so many more photos with the fp than a DSLR because it's always with me and often it's in my hand. I also love the colors straight out of the camera.

    The fp line has a creative core imbedded in it's design and manufacture. An ability to produce rich deep and beautiful images surprises and delights so much so that any perceived limitations one has of the camera quickly dissipate into nothingness.

    Excellent review. I don't think many have given this system much thought - it looks like a A7C, but gimmickier - but your thorough video shows the incredible power of the modular system. Personally I would want more dials but the overall versatility (completely putting aside the great IQ) is amazing.

    As an sdQuattro user, I find it really nice that the same build quality and what seems like some of the tooling and also that dial design have been retained in the fp series. The build quality of the sdQuattro (I don't have experience with the fp) is just fantastic and is say second to none amidst the APS-C and FF market. Medium format might be better though.

      With the fp (not the L) I've only seen issues when shooting in particular lighting, which gives light banding. I don't think I've seen rolling shutter in any of my stills besides that.

    Your assessment is diametrically opposite that of many professional photographers who say that the camera without the grips and EVF is hard to work with and not worth the price. It should have been offered with EVF and grips as a part of the basic package! Also, do they have in camera compression yet? That was another problem people mentioned.

Note these things she said in the video: “check out the body”, “put it right there”, “which while small is still deceptively useful”, “there’s also a larger hand grip if this one doesn’t work for you”, “there’s also a large amount of brackets that you can use with this tiny little body, ....If come to think of it all her videos have those sorts of tones. Right? *also her shirt says “dirty sweaty happy”. I mean c’mon. Maybe it’s just me..

      @WOLFTICKVIDEOS 3 года назад

      @@frankluo230 Yes. I believe it is overpriced for all of the things you don't get with it. You pretty much still have to build it because it's almost unusable for most initially.

    • @frankluo230
      @frankluo230 3 года назад

      @@WOLFTICKVIDEOS it depends. Leica M10 has even less convenience features and only 24mp, no af no ibis no high fps. Yet Leica charges 4x the price. You can't really think fp as a competitor to Canon Sony Nikon's offering. It is something different, high quality image capable, but offers a combination of tactile build, small size, nostalgia shooting experience with contemporary modularity. Being different alone is a selling point. There are enough people willing to sacrifice convenience for being different. Coach build cars, classic restoration, vintage motorbikes. People are happy to pay over $1k for skin mods in online game to look different. I think fp-L will find its success beyond itself being quite capable as a video making tool.

    • @WOLFTICKVIDEOS
      @WOLFTICKVIDEOS 3 года назад

      @@frankluo230 Well man I'm not sure what to say if you want to compare Sigma to Leica. Leica has a long history of being a status symbol for the upper class, along with being known for it's German precision and attention to detail. Sigma is known for less expensive third party lenses that up until recently have a very checkered history. If Sigma wants people to start considering them for their camera bodies, I think a price that is perceived as a undeniable great value would be beneficial to their future. Currently the price of this body with the addition of the viewfinder and you are in Canon R5 and various Sony models territory, Nope not me. Sigma bodies have never sold well and if you think that I'm wrong and you are right about this one at this price is going to change that, I will gladly come back here and tell you that you were right and I was wrong. Will you be willing to do the same if I'm right?

      Do you have a Leica SL with a few lenses? If you did, maybe you'd like a little back-up camera for hiking, which you could use your lenses on. Maybe you'd see the fp-L as the perfect option, either with or without the optional viewfinder. Are you looking for the lightest high-resolution full-frame kit to hike or go climbing with? Sigma's fl-L with their new 24mm f3.5 lens or their new 35mm f2 lens is probably it. You say there are far too many better cameras for less money, but there is NO camera with a sensor over 50 MP for less money. If that's your criteria (price and resolution), then the fp-L is your ONLY choice. Oh, and then there's the tiny size and weight of the fp-L too.

The list goes on but I think you get the point, most of all why would someone buy this over the Sony A7r4? which has a better 62mp sensor and an overall better camera But only cost a few hundred bucks more!
